Its main buying questions are whether its 898 mm-wide canopy suits your island and ceiling, and whether your chosen installation needs separately sold recirculation parts. Haier’s Australian product page lists an RRP of AUD 1,099; that market-specific price and availability can change.
What the Haier HI90BLX1 offers
Haier describes the HI90BLX1 as a stainless-steel “90cm 500 Series Island Rangehood,” designed for a cooktop on a central island. It has push-button controls, three fan speeds, three mesh filters described as dishwasher safe, and four LED lights rated at 4 × 2 W. The official Australian product page lists a two-year parts-and-labour warranty.
Haier rates maximum air movement at 700 m³/hr. This is the manufacturer’s rating, not an independently measured result in a kitchen. Neither Haier’s product page nor its 17 April 2026 quick reference guide provides a decibel rating or independent extraction test, so the figures do not establish how well it will capture cooking fumes in a particular kitchen or how loud it will sound.

How much space does the HI90BLX1 need?
The canopy measures 898 mm wide by 600 mm deep, and its listed height range is 950–1100 mm. Check those dimensions against the island, ceiling and planned cooking position before buying. The height range is particularly relevant for a ceiling-mounted island hood, where the available ceiling structure and the installer’s required mounting position determine whether the hood will fit your layout.
The outlet is 150 mm, and Haier specifies top extraction for ducting. Confirm that a suitable duct route can run upward from the hood before choosing a ducted installation. The listed dimensions and outlet describe the appliance; they do not confirm that a particular ceiling, duct route or mounting arrangement is suitable.

Can the HI90BLX1 be recirculating rather than ducted?
Yes. Haier lists top-extraction recirculation as an option as well as ducted extraction. Recirculation is not simply the same setup without an exterior duct: Haier lists the carbon filter H0530061771 and recirculation kit H0530062211 as separate items. Confirm with Haier or your installer exactly which parts your chosen configuration requires and whether they are available locally.
Haier’s inclusion list names an aluminium filter, part H0530061772, a chimney extension, part H0530062213, and a light bulb, part H0530061789. These listed inclusions do not replace the separate-item notes for recirculation accessories. Check the product page and the package details for your market rather than assuming that the hood is ready for recirculation out of the box.

What should you check before installation?
- Confirm the canopy’s 898 × 600 mm footprint, 950–1100 mm height range and ceiling layout with your installer.
- For ducting, verify that the planned route accommodates the 150 mm outlet and top extraction.
- For recirculation, confirm the required filter and kit parts, their compatibility and their local availability.
- Ask a suitably qualified installer to assess the ceiling structure, mounting and mains connection against local requirements.
- Use the current local installation guide for final installation and warranty details.
A Haier/Fisher & Paykel installation and user guide hosted by Manualzz states that the hood weighs 27 kg and must be fixed to a solid wall, stud, beam or truss. Because that document is hosted by a third party, verify the weight and instructions against Haier’s current local guide. The same guide says installation and mains connection must be carried out by a suitably qualified person under local building and electrical requirements; it is not a substitute for an installer’s assessment.
The guide’s safety instruction is: “Always disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply before carrying out any maintenance or repairs.” Follow the current local instructions and use a qualified person for work requiring electrical or structural expertise.

Is the Haier HI90BLX1 worth buying?
It may suit buyers looking for a stainless-steel, 90 cm island hood with three speeds and a choice of ducted extraction or optional recirculation. The practical fit and configuration matter more than the airflow headline: measure the canopy against the island and ceiling, check the duct route, and account for any separately sold recirculation components.
The available specifications do not establish real-world capture, noise, reliability or comparative value. Haier’s Australian page shows a 3.2/5 customer rating, but does not expose a review count or enough context to judge how representative that undated snapshot is. Treat it as limited information, not a robust satisfaction measure. Compare alternatives using canopy dimensions, airflow rating, outlet and duct route, recirculation parts, published noise figures, filter design, warranty and total delivered and installed cost in your market.
