Guns of Eschaton requires a 64-bit Windows 10-or-newer PC, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, and an SSD with 45 GB free. The official minimum graphics cards are a GeForce GTX 1070 8GB or Radeon RX Vega 56; the recommended tier rises to a GeForce RTX 3070 8GB or Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB. Those specifications indicate baseline compatibility versus substantially more performance headroom, but the developer has not published frame-rate targets or resolution-specific benchmarks.
The full game is planned for 2026 and is not yet available on Steam. A free, standalone demo released on October 5, 2026, so the practical way to check your system now is to install the demo and apply the settings guidance below.
Official Guns of Eschaton PC requirements
The Steam listing separates a minimum configuration from a recommended one. Both require 64-bit Windows 10 or later, 16 GB of memory, DirectX 12, 45 GB of free storage, and an SSD. The difference is primarily processor and graphics capacity.

These are the values published on Steam in 2026. The listing does not state a target resolution, a target frame rate, a ray-tracing requirement, or the performance cost of individual graphics options. Do not treat either column as a promise of a specific FPS result.

What the two hardware tiers mean
Minimum is a compatibility baseline
A PC around the Core i5-8600K or Ryzen 5 2600X with a GTX 1070 or RX Vega 56 meets the published floor. That tells you the game is intended to launch on that class of hardware when the rest of the requirements are satisfied. It does not establish whether the machine will hold a particular frame rate at 1080p, 1440p, or any other resolution, because no official benchmark table has been released.
Recommended provides more headroom
The Core i7-9700K or Ryzen 7 3700X paired with an RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT is a materially higher performance class. Use this tier as the safer target if you want room for heavier scenes, higher image quality, or background applications. The recommendation still carries the same 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, SSD, and 45 GB requirements; it is not a separate high-resolution certification.
VRAM and system memory checks
The listed GPUs have 8 GB or more of VRAM, and the game asks for 16 GB of system memory in both columns. A card with less VRAM or a computer with only 8 GB of RAM falls outside the published specification even if its other components appear fast enough. Close browsers, recording software, and launchers when testing, because available memory can be lower than the installed amount.

Can your PC run Guns of Eschaton?
Use this checklist before downloading. It is a requirements comparison, not an FPS calculator.
- Confirm Windows architecture. Open Settings → System → About and check that Windows is 64-bit. Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit meets the operating-system wording; a 32-bit installation does not.
- Identify the CPU. In Settings → System → About or Task Manager’s Performance → CPU page, compare the model with the i5-8600K/Ryzen 5 2600X minimum or the i7-9700K/Ryzen 7 3700X recommended tier.
- Identify the GPU and VRAM. Task Manager’s Performance → GPU page shows the model and dedicated memory. Compare the exact card family, not only the brand name. Laptop GPUs can perform differently from desktop versions with similar labels.
- Check DirectX 12 support. Press
Win+R, enterdxdiag, and inspect the System tab’s DirectX Version line. Your graphics driver must also support DirectX 12. - Verify memory. Task Manager → Performance → Memory should show at least 16 GB installed. Leave additional headroom for Windows and other programs.
- Check the installation drive. Make sure an SSD has at least 45 GB free before installation. Keep extra free space for shader caches, updates, and normal Windows operation rather than filling the drive to its limit.
If your machine meets only the minimum, start with the Low preset and test the demo. If it is near or above the recommended tier, begin with the game’s automatic choice, then adjust manually if frame pacing or image quality is unsatisfactory.
Fixing low FPS or an incorrect quality preset
Use the manual Low or Medium preset when auto-detection misfires
The developer reported that an earlier graphics auto-detection system could incorrectly classify many lower-end PCs as Epic, producing poor performance. The temporary fix was explicit: open Settings → Graphics and choose the Low or Medium preset. This is the first change to make if the game starts with unexpectedly low FPS, stutter, or a GPU that remains at full load while the image quality is far above what your hardware can handle.

Reset auto-detection after the hotfix
A later hotfix announcement said auto-detection was working correctly again. You can therefore reset to auto-detect and let the updated game select a baseline, or choose the preset that best matches your PC. If the automatic result still feels too demanding, manual Low or Medium remains the predictable fallback; the developer’s guidance does not require you to use Epic.
Change one class of setting at a time
Because the official listing does not publish the cost of individual options, use a controlled process instead of assuming a particular slider has a known impact. Record the starting preset, change one setting group, play the same area for several minutes, and watch average FPS and frame-time consistency. If performance improves but the image becomes too soft or unstable, restore the previous value and reduce a different option. This approach also reveals whether your limit is the GPU, CPU, memory, or background software.
Rule out system-side causes
- Update the graphics driver and restart Windows before retesting.
- Close overlays, browsers, capture tools, and other GPU-heavy applications.
- Use the laptop manufacturer’s performance mode and connect AC power when playing on a notebook.
- Check that the game is running on the discrete GPU rather than an integrated graphics adapter.
- Install the demo on an SSD with adequate free space and allow shader or asset preparation to finish after updates.
These steps address common causes of inconsistent performance, but they cannot turn hardware below the minimum into a supported configuration. No official FPS guarantee exists for any preset.

Choosing the field of view
Guns of Eschaton exposes an experimental FOV control from 75, the default, to 90. The developer says the game was designed and balanced around the default FOV. FOV is therefore a gameplay choice, not a free performance upgrade.
Keep 75 for the intended balance
At 75, the camera matches the layouts, encounters, and enemy placement used during design and balancing. Start here if you want the authored presentation or if you are troubleshooting visual oddities.
Use a higher value only for comfort or visibility
Increasing FOV can show more of the scene at once and may feel better on an ultrawide monitor or at close viewing distance. However, the developer warns that changing it can affect visual issues, level layouts, encounters, enemy placement, and difficulty. If enemies appear unusually positioned or a room feels visually wrong after changing FOV, return to 75 before diagnosing a graphics problem.

SSD, DirectX 12, and installation planning
Why the SSD requirement matters
An SSD is explicitly required, not merely suggested. Reserve 45 GB for the installation and leave operating-system breathing room. Installing on a hard disk when the listing requires an SSD can contribute to long loading or streaming problems and puts the system outside the stated specification.
DirectX 12 is mandatory
The minimum and recommended entries both name DirectX 12. Updating Windows and the GPU driver can resolve missing-runtime or launch errors, but a card without DirectX 12 support cannot be made compliant through a graphics preset.
Audio compatibility
The only audio requirement given is a Windows Compatible Audio Device. The listing does not identify a special headset, surround format, or proprietary controller, so ordinary Windows audio hardware is the relevant check.
What is available now
The official Steam page identifies Eschatology Entertainment as developer and 4Divinity as publisher, with a planned 2026 release for the full game. As of the current listing, the full release is not available on Steam. The free demo released on October 5, 2026, and is described as a standalone taste of the project rather than the opening chapter of the campaign.
The game’s advertised systems include solo and co-op progression, player-versus-player play, more than 20 weapons, build customization, consumables, and an enemy-study codex. Those features explain why stable frame pacing and a comfortable FOV matter, but they do not change the published hardware requirements.
What the official specifications do not tell you
- No FPS target is published for minimum or recommended hardware.
- No resolution-specific guidance is provided for 1080p, 1440p, or 4K.
- No ray-tracing requirement or recommendation is listed.
- No per-option graphics cost is documented.
- No benchmark results by GPU, CPU, preset, or resolution are available in the official requirements.
Accordingly, the most defensible expectation is categorical: minimum hardware is the supported baseline, while the recommended tier offers substantially more headroom. Actual FPS will depend on resolution, scene complexity, drivers, background load, and the final game’s optimization. The demo is useful for a firsthand check, but its performance should not be presented as a guaranteed result for the unreleased full campaign.
