GuardianKane’s second build shifted the project from generating test work to coordinating verification around claims a person or a later Stop hook selected. In Abhinav Pangaria’s account, much of the expansion was wiring: surfacing Kane CLI capabilities and reusing data GuardianKane already collected. The change made verification’s target more deliberate; it did not prove that a test run was thorough or that an application was correct.
How GuardianKane moved through three eras
In a September 22, 2026 DEV Community article, project author Abhinav Pangaria describes GuardianKane’s development in three stages. The stages reflect a change in responsibility: first organizing implementation work, then gating it with verification, and finally orchestrating a broader workflow.
- Planning tool: GuardianKane turned a product requirements document (PRD) into a task tracker with task IDs, titles, PRD references, and dependencies. It did not check whether completed tasks were actually done.
- Stop-hook verification gate: The project added Stop and PostToolUse hooks, followed by scripted replay, defect sweeps, bug memory, an installer, and four paired experiments. Pangaria also reports that this earlier version placed second in the TestMuAI Kane CLI hackathon.
- Broader orchestration system: A dashboard marked the start of a rebuild organized into twelve numbered phases, including scope controls and review features.
The hackathon placement and experiment count are Pangaria’s reported project history, not independently confirmed measurements.

The rebuilt architecture separates orchestration from analysis. GuardianKane owns tasks, phases, the verification gate, and the dashboard. Kane CLI owns the claim graph, coverage, reconcile output, and explanations. Pangaria says an audit found that GuardianKane sometimes duplicated functionality or failed to call capabilities already available in Kane CLI.

That audit informs the title’s “wiring” idea: instead of rebuilding every capability or collector, the project connected existing functions and records to workflow steps and dashboard views. Pangaria sums up the design lesson this way: “before adding collection, grep for what is already collected and never read.”
What the twelve phases added
Pangaria describes the phases as a progression from safer test design to broader review and inspection. The list below follows the features he reports, rather than implying that each item was a separate product or an independently verified release.

- Use-case review gate: Added an approval step before test generation. This addressed a fresh-install failure Pangaria describes: test design failed when a use case had not yet been approved.
- Acceptance-criterion evidence: Added evidence for each criterion and tamper detection.
- Phase model: Added phases to structure the workflow.
- Context injection: Added relevant context to the process.
- Live scope guard: Made scope visible and guarded while work was in progress.
- Gaps panel: Surfaced coverage gaps in the dashboard.
- Review card: Added a review-oriented dashboard card.
- Reconcile-powered sync: Used Kane CLI reconcile output in place of a hand-written PRD-diff implementation.
- Trace panel: Added a dashboard view of activity records.
- Stuck-task panel: Added visibility into tasks that appeared stuck.
- File-level task lock: Added a warning when task work overlapped at the file level.
- Combined final phase: Brought together browser review, a PRD graph, quick generation, an evidence viewer, and Playwright export.
Why the author calls much of it wiring
Several features relied on information or commands that already existed in the system, according to Pangaria’s account:
- Existing file-touch records were reused for the scope guard, trace panel, and task-lock feature.
- A coverage-gaps command was brought into the dashboard; Pangaria says it had not previously been called elsewhere.
- Kane CLI’s reconcile capability replaced a hand-written implementation for detecting PRD changes.
- A context-review approval command addressed the fresh-install path where an unreviewed use case could prevent test design.
These examples show what “wiring” means here: making existing capabilities usable at the right point in an orchestrated workflow, rather than treating every new panel or control as a new data-collection system.

What pull-based verification changes—and what it does not
The v2 approach changes test targeting from a push model, in which the workflow generates tests broadly, to a pull model: a person, or later the Stop hook, selects code-graph nodes whose claims are to be tested. That gives the verification process a more explicit target and can narrow its scope.
Target selection is not a measure of depth. A run aimed at a deliberately chosen claim can still use weak tests, miss relevant behavior, or fail to establish that the application works correctly. As Pangaria puts it: “What v2 guarantees is that verification is aimed at something a person deliberately pointed at, not that any given run is rigorous.”

What the reported test run establishes
Pangaria reports that his rerun for the article had 36 test files and 460 of 460 tests passing. Those are author-reported figures, not independently confirmed measurements. More importantly, the article says the tests cover GuardianKane’s own code; they do not establish that applications built through GuardianKane’s workflow are correct.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe count is evidence of a passing test run for the project itself, within the scope of those tests. It is not a quantified measure of test quality, proof of exhaustive coverage, or a verdict on downstream applications.
Limitations and defects Pangaria reports
The article also describes implementation limits encountered during use. These details matter because they show where dashboard visibility or a named safeguard did not amount to complete enforcement.
- Scope state could be overwritten: The live scope flag was stored separately from graph status because graph rebuilds could overwrite it before dashboard polling caught it.
- The trace was incomplete: Read, Grep, Glob, and Bash events were not recorded because the hook exited for tools other than Edit and Write.
- The task lock warned rather than blocked: Pangaria says there was no PreToolUse hook to prevent an edit before it happened.
After running the system against an ecommerce demo, Pangaria says he found and fixed several issues: an evidence check used the wrong field, a runner trusted a CLI exit code instead of a structured verdict, dashboard chat did not respond, and dashboard rendering had stored cross-site scripting (XSS). These are the author’s reported findings and fixes; the article’s account does not independently establish their scope or verify the fixes.
