Grand Theft Auto VI follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos after an easy score goes wrong, drawing them into a criminal conspiracy that spans the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar has confirmed Vice City and several other Leonida destinations, along with a supporting cast tied to crime, music and local business. The story’s full plot and the fate of Jason and Lucia’s relationship remain undisclosed. Rockstar currently lists the game for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What is the story of GTA 6?
Rockstar’s official premise begins with a score that goes wrong. Jason and Lucia become caught in a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida and have to rely on each other to survive. That establishes a story centered on shared danger and partnership, but it is not a full plot synopsis: Rockstar has not identified every conspirator, explained how the scheme unfolds, or revealed the ending.
Their relationship is central, though its outcome is open. Rockstar describes meeting Lucia as potentially the best or worst thing to happen to Jason, and says a life with Jason could be Lucia’s way out. Those character descriptions point to a consequential partnership without confirming whether it lasts or how it changes.
Rockstar’s description of Leonida as “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America” captures the contrast in the premise: a bright setting and a dangerous criminal story. Any more specific interpretation of the game’s themes remains analysis, not a confirmed plot detail.

Who are Jason and Lucia?
Jason Duval
Rockstar says Jason grew up around grifters and crooks, served in the Army while trying to move beyond a troubled adolescence, and later worked for local drug runners in the Keys. He wants an easy life, but his circumstances keep getting harder. His biography places him in Leonida’s criminal world before the central score goes wrong.
Lucia Caminos
Lucia’s father taught her to fight when she was young. Fighting for her family led to her imprisonment at Leonida Penitentiary; she has since been released and is focused on making smart moves. Rockstar says she wants the good life her mother dreamed of after their days in Liberty City. The official biography does not reveal the specific events that led to her imprisonment or what happens after her release.
