Grand Theft Auto 6 reviews are expected to publish before the game launches on November 19, 2026. Insider Gaming reports that it has learned a preliminary review embargo, but is withholding the date because Rockstar or Take-Two could still change it. As a result, a pre-launch review period is supported, while the exact day and time remain unconfirmed.
What has been confirmed about GTA 6 reviews?
Insider Gaming reported on October 14, 2026, that “Grand Theft Auto 6’s review estate will go live before the release on November 19.” That is the clearest current answer to the question of whether reviews will be available before launch: according to that report, they will.

The same report says its preliminary embargo information is subject to change and will not be published. No exact embargo date or hour has been publicly confirmed in the cited reporting. That means any calendar date circulating online should be treated as an estimate unless Rockstar or Take-Two announces it directly.

What “before launch” does—and does not—tell us
- It indicates that at least some full reviews are expected ahead of the November 19 release.
- It does not establish whether reviews will appear one day early, several days early, or at a particular time zone.
- It does not confirm when Metacritic or other aggregate scores will open.
- It does not prove that every outlet will publish simultaneously; individual publications can follow different embargo and spoiler policies.
GTA 6 release date, platforms and price
Rockstar has announced November 19, 2026, as Grand Theft Auto VI’s release date, explaining that the additional development time is intended to deliver the level of polish expected from the game. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement says pre-orders began June 25 and lists the launch price at $79.99 for the console release.

| Launch platforms | PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S |
| Announced console price | $79.99 |
| Pre-load begins | November 12, 2026, according to Rockstar’s store listing |
The November 12 pre-load date is not a review date. Pre-loading only lets eligible buyers download game files before launch; it does not indicate that public reviews, scores or critic access will begin that day.
Could the embargo be November 18?
November 18 is sometimes suggested as a possible review date because publishers often allow reviews shortly before release. However, that is an inference rather than an announcement. The available reporting specifically withholds the preliminary embargo date and warns that it may change, so November 18 should not be presented as confirmed.

The same caution applies to November 12, the pre-load date. Nothing in the cited information says reviews will publish when pre-loading starts, and a download date is not evidence of a critic-access date.
When will GTA 6 Metacritic scores go live?
There is no confirmed public time for Metacritic or any other review aggregator to begin displaying GTA 6 scores. Aggregate scores generally depend on participating outlets publishing their reviews, but the timing can vary according to each outlet’s embargo compliance, publication schedule and whether it posts a complete review or an initial verdict.

- GTA 5 SUR PS3 / TAKE TWO - ROCKSTAR GAME
Even if individual reviews appear before November 19, an aggregate score could update in stages. Early numbers may reflect only a subset of critics, and scores can change as additional reviews are added. Readers should therefore distinguish between the first published reviews and a mature aggregate score.
What to check on review day
- Verify the date and time. Look for an explicit embargo announcement from Rockstar or a clearly sourced report rather than a social-media prediction.
- Check the review type. A hands-on preview, impressions piece or technical performance report is not the same as a full review based on unrestricted access.
- Read the outlet’s access disclosure. Review copies can involve limited play windows, review conditions or a restricted portion of the game.
- Watch spoiler labels. Story-heavy coverage may separate spoiler-free verdicts from detailed discussions of missions, characters and endings.
- Treat early aggregates as provisional. Metacritic and similar scores can move as more publications post their reviews.
What is still unknown?
- The exact review embargo date.
- The embargo release time and applicable time zones.
- Whether all major outlets will publish at once.
- When Metacritic and other aggregators will display scores.
- Whether any review access will be separated into previews, technical evaluations and full reviews.
For now, the reliable planning assumption is simple: expect reviews before November 19, but do not schedule around a specific hour or day until an official announcement or an updated, attributable report confirms it.
