Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a PC release date in the official sources reviewed as of October 7, 2026. The game is described by publisher Take-Two as a single-player experience; no multiplayer mode or new GTA Online plan has been confirmed in those sources.
When does GTA 6 come out?
Rockstar and Take-Two announced a November 19, 2026 release date. The announcement also said preorders would begin June 25, 2026. Because release plans and retailer availability can change, check the live PlayStation, Xbox, or Rockstar listing before purchasing.
Which platforms will GTA 6 be on?
The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation says GTA VI is not playable on PS4. The official sources reviewed for this guide had not announced a PC release date as of October 7, 2026; that means PC availability is unannounced, not that a later PC version has been ruled out.

The platform choice is therefore between the current-generation consoles you already own, rather than a confirmed performance comparison. PlayStation advertises Tempest 3D audio, fast loading, DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers, and effects through the controller’s integrated speaker. Those are PlayStation’s advertised features, not independently tested comparisons with Xbox.

What is the story and setting?
Rockstar’s official synopsis places Jason and Lucia in Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. A failed score draws them into a criminal conspiracy. Rockstar introduces the pair with the line, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” The synopsis establishes the premise, but not the story’s eventual outcome; theories about what happens next are not confirmed plot details.
What editions are available, and how much do they cost?
Rockstar lists Standard and Ultimate editions. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement gave the following US prices. They are announcement prices for the United States, not a guarantee of today’s price or of pricing in other countries.

Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement describes GTA VI as “a single-player experience.” The official sources reviewed do not confirm a multiplayer mode or a new GTA Online plan for this game. GTA V’s online model is not evidence that GTA VI will use the same approach.

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
Does the physical edition include a disc?
No. Rockstar Support says retail physical packaging contains a download code, not a game disc. Its guidance expected retailer shipping and pickup to begin November 12, 2026, one week before the scheduled launch, to allow preload. Check the retailer’s listing and collection or delivery arrangements: “physical” describes the packaging, not disc-based installation.
Code redemption can depend on region. Rockstar advises PlayStation buyers to use a retailer in the same country as the account on their platform to avoid activation issues; it says Xbox codes are not region-locked. Check the applicable account and retailer terms before purchasing a code.

What preorder offers were announced?
Take-Two and Rockstar’s June 2026 announcement said preorders and purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack. Digital preorders also include one month of GTA+. The one-month subscription offer is not the same as a permanent game feature.
PlayStation’s US offer page explains how to claim the subscription, notes that it auto-renews, lists exclusions, and gives a later claim deadline. Read the live terms for your region and platform before preordering, especially the billing and cancellation conditions. Offer eligibility and terms may differ by storefront or change.

Rockstar Support says digital preorder preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. Its physical code-in-box guidance also expected retail copies to be available for shipping or pickup from that date for preload. Availability and timing depend on the retailer and platform.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI site includes an extended look and two trailers. It also announced a GTA VI album featuring 34 original tracks in 2026. Separately, Rockstar announced a limited-edition Vice City Collection. That collection is merchandise and collectibles, not another edition of the game; check Rockstar’s current listing for availability.
Rockstar has not supplied a verified numeric ranking establishing GTA VI as the most anticipated game ever. Treat that phrase as a headline description, not a measured statistic. Likewise, details such as map size, activities, animals, and weather should not be treated as confirmed here unless Rockstar publishes supporting information.

How to choose between the announced options
- Choose a platform: Start with whether you own a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S; neither PS4 nor a PC release date is confirmed in the official sources reviewed.
- Compare the edition: The announced US prices are $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. Decide whether Ultimate’s described in-game collection is worth the difference, and check your local storefront price.
- Check the purchase format: A retail physical package contains a download code rather than a disc. If you choose a code, confirm it is compatible with your platform account’s region.
- Read offer terms: Verify preorder eligibility, deadlines, and any subscription auto-renewal terms on the live storefront before placing an order.
