Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s dated Newswire announcement is the controlling source. The earlier May 26, 2026 date has been replaced. To check any new trailer, delay, platform or preorder claim, start with Rockstar’s own channels, then cross-check Take-Two’s investor-relations notices. Social posts, leak videos, retailer placeholders and anonymous “insider” reports are not confirmation.
The confirmed GTA 6 release date
Rockstar Games has announced November 19, 2026 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. The launch platforms officially listed so far are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC edition or PC release date is announced in the cited platform-support material, so a PC date should not be presented as confirmed.

The date is a scheduled launch date, not proof that the game has already shipped or that every regional store has final inventory. If you are reading this after November 19, 2026, check the latest dated post on the Rockstar Games site before relying on the date. Release timing, preorder availability, pricing and platform information can change.
Rockstar’s announcement supersedes the previous date of May 26, 2026. Older articles that still use the May date are historical references, not current release information.

Why older GTA 6 dates keep appearing
GTA 6’s schedule has changed more than once, which makes undated screenshots and recycled articles especially misleading. Use the publication date on each first-party announcement rather than assuming the first date you see is still valid.

In its November 6, 2025 announcement, Rockstar wrote: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” That statement explains the reason given for the delay; it does not create a separate guarantee that no further change is possible.
The official sources to monitor
A reliable verification chain has several layers. The first source should be the company that controls the announcement, followed by corporate material that confirms timing or business details.

Rockstar Newswire is the primary place to look for a dated release-date change, trailer announcement, gameplay reveal or other editorial update. Open the page directly rather than trusting a cropped screenshot. Check the headline, publication date, article text and the domain shown in your browser.

The official GTA VI hub
The GTA VI hub collects the game’s official materials, including trailers and “An Extended Look.” It is useful when you want to compare a new claim with the latest first-party assets. A new video appearing on an official Rockstar page is materially different from a video uploaded by an account using a similar logo.
Rockstar customer support
Rockstar customer support provides practical product information, including the currently listed platforms and the format of the physical version. Support documentation is particularly useful for checking whether a console, edition or preorder detail is actually supported by the publisher.
Rockstar Propaganda
Rockstar Propaganda is another official communication channel. Treat a post there as a lead to verify against a dated page on the main Rockstar site when the claim changes a release date, confirms a platform or introduces a preorder.

For corporate timing, launch-window language and release notices, cross-check Take-Two investor relations. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 notice supplied the preorder start date and the $79.99 console launch-edition price. Investor material can corroborate Rockstar’s announcement, but it should not be used to expand a statement beyond what it actually covers.

How to verify a new GTA 6 announcement
Use this process whenever you see a claimed delay, trailer, platform or preorder update.
- Open the source directly. Type the official Rockstar or Take-Two address yourself or use a bookmark. Do not treat a reposted image as the source.
- Record the publication date. A real announcement should have a date that can be compared with earlier statements. Undated posts cannot establish when a claim became official.
- Read the exact scope. Identify whether the item concerns a release date, a trailer, a platform, an edition, a preorder or a price. Do not convert a statement about one of those into a broader claim.
- Check the domain. Official pages should resolve to rockstargames.com, support.rockstargames.com or take2games.com/ir. Look for misspellings, extra words, unusual country domains and redirect chains.
- Cross-check corporate timing when needed. If the claim involves a launch schedule or investor language, look for matching Take-Two material.
- Preserve geography and edition details. A price may apply to a particular region and launch edition. A physical product may have different contents from a digital purchase.
- Label anything without a dated first-party page as unconfirmed. You can report that a source claims a date, but do not write “Rockstar confirmed” unless the official document exists.
- Recheck immediately before publishing or buying. Inventory, prices, platform listings and dates are volatile. A page that was accurate last week may no longer be the latest statement.
How to judge the source behind a claim
When two posts disagree, compare them on five axes rather than counting how many accounts repeated each one.

Common fake or misleading GTA 6 announcements
“Insider” posts without a primary document
An anonymous account may be correct, but anonymity is not confirmation. If the post does not point to a dated Rockstar or Take-Two page, describe it as a rumor and include the date you checked. Do not remove the qualification merely because other accounts repeat the same wording.
AI-generated or edited trailer clips
Fan-made and AI-generated footage can imitate Rockstar’s visual style, logos and typography. Check whether the video is embedded or linked from an official Rockstar page, whether its title and description match the publisher’s wording, and whether the upload date is consistent with the claimed event. A high production quality is not evidence of authenticity.

Cropped screenshots
A screenshot can hide the URL, publication date or surrounding qualification. Find the original page and compare the full text. If no original page can be located, the screenshot should not be used as proof.
Retailer placeholders
Retailers sometimes create product pages before final pricing, stock or release information is available. A placeholder date or price is not a publisher announcement. Confirm the product against Rockstar Support or Take-Two, then verify the live listing’s region, seller, edition and stock before linking to it.
Recycled articles
Search results often surface older stories about the 2025 window or the May 26, 2026 date. Read the article’s timestamp and compare it with Rockstar’s November 6, 2025 update. A page can remain online and accurately describe what was known at the time while still being outdated now.

The officially listed launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Do not infer a PC release from a job listing, database entry, trailer asset, retailer page or a general statement that the game may eventually reach additional platforms. No PC edition is announced in the cited platform-support document.

Platforms, editions and preorder details
Launch platforms
Rockstar Support lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for preorder. That is the scope of the current official platform information. It does not confirm PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo hardware, cloud availability or PC.
Physical edition format
The physical version contains a download code for the game. A disc-shaped package therefore does not necessarily mean that all game data is supplied on a playable disc. Check the code’s region requirements, redemption deadline if stated, and the account or network connection needed by the platform before purchasing.
Price
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 release notice listed $79.99 for the console launch edition. Treat that as the stated price for that notice, not a universal price for every country, tax treatment, retailer or special edition. A live store page may show a different local currency amount or a different product tier.
Preorders
The same notice said preorders began June 25, 2026. Before linking or ordering, check all of the following:
- the console version: PS5 or Xbox Series X|S;
- the edition name and whether it is physical or digital;
- the seller, region and currency;
- the currently displayed price and tax or shipping charges;
- whether stock is available rather than merely listed;
- the retailer’s cancellation, delivery and code-redemption terms.
What to do when official pages disagree
Occasional inconsistencies can arise when a page is cached, edited or published in different systems. Do not choose the date that fits a preferred story. Capture the title, URL and publication time of each page, then apply this order:
- Prefer the newest dated Rockstar release announcement for the game’s release date.
- Use Rockstar Support for product and platform details.
- Use Take-Two investor relations for corporate notices and financial launch language.
- Check whether one statement is regional, edition-specific or describing a preorder window rather than launch day.
- If the conflict remains unresolved, report the discrepancy and avoid presenting either detail as settled.
An older confirmed statement remains useful for a timeline, but it cannot overwrite a later first-party announcement. This is why the December 2023 2025 window and the May 26, 2026 date should be retained only as historical context.
A practical checklist for publishing or sharing an update
- Have you opened the first-party page rather than relying on a screenshot?
- Did you record its publication date and exact wording?
- Does the claim concern a date, platform, trailer, preorder, price or edition?
- Are geography, currency and edition stated alongside any price?
- Are you distinguishing PS5 and Xbox Series X|S from unannounced platforms?
- Have you checked Rockstar Support or Take-Two when the claim requires product or corporate confirmation?
- Have you labeled third-party reports as reports or rumors?
- Did you recheck the page, price and stock immediately before publication?
