There is no confirmed PC release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar’s June 24, 2026 announcement schedules the game for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but does not name PC as a launch platform. Reports that the PC version could arrive sooner than expected describe a possibility of a shorter wait after the console release—not a confirmed PC launch or release window.
When is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar and Take-Two have not announced a PC release date in the materials available for this article. The confirmed date is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official announcement does not list a PC edition or say that PC players can play on launch day. Rockstar’s announcement is the relevant release-date confirmation.
That means “sooner than expected” should be read as an unconfirmed suggestion that the console-to-PC gap might be shorter than in some previous Rockstar releases. It does not establish a month, quarter, or year for the PC version. The phrase “than anyone expected” is also not a measurable forecast: no supported consensus or specific expected date is established here.

A report has raised the possibility of a shorter wait for PC players, but it is secondary coverage, not a Rockstar or Take-Two announcement. The account does not provide a specific PC release window. Until the publisher confirms a platform and date, treat the timing claim as speculation rather than a schedule. The report discussing the possibility does not change the platforms and date in Rockstar’s announcement.

Executive comments about PC’s growing importance at Take-Two offer context, not a GTA VI port announcement. At the company’s annual meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company generally aims to release for platforms with a meaningful audience and that “the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time,” as reported by PC Gamer on September 18, 2026. He did not give a GTA VI PC date in those remarks.
In a separate interview, Zelnick described console-first releases as a way to serve a title’s core audience. GameSpot reported him saying that for a big title, PC can account for “45, 50% of the sales.” That is a broad characterization, not a forecast for GTA VI. He also recalled that PC represented around 5% of NBA 2K sales volumes when he joined Take-Two in 2007; that historical NBA 2K figure is not about GTA. GameSpot’s May 4, 2026 coverage reports the comments.

What Rockstar’s past PC releases can—and cannot—tell you
Rockstar has released major games on PC after their console versions. PC Gamer’s release-history coverage notes that GTA V arrived on consoles in September 2013 and on PC in 2015, after the PC date was announced and delayed. Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC version followed its console release by about a year. Those examples provide historical context, but they do not establish GTA VI’s PC timetable. A past gap is not a dependable prediction for a different game.
Likewise, a reported comment from Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball that GTA VI would not be “streaming exclusively or to PC” arose in a discussion about Xbox streaming. It should not be read as confirmation of a native PC version, or as a date for one. The Verge’s report covers that context.

Should you wait for the PC version or play on console?
The choice depends on whether you want to play on the confirmed launch date or are comfortable waiting an unknown amount of time. There is no announced PC date to compare against November 19, 2026, so a precise wait-time calculation is not possible.
| Choice | What is confirmed | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Play at launch on console | PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are scheduled for November 19, 2026. | You already own a supported console and prefer a confirmed platform and date. |
| Wait for PC | No PC edition or release date is confirmed in the cited announcement. | You prefer PC and accept that the wait could be substantial or the schedule could change. |
A console purchase does not provide PC access. Rockstar said the physical retail version would contain a download code inside the box, so the announcement does not support describing it as a disc edition. Check the product listing for the specific platform before buying.

What to watch for before making plans
- Look for an explicit PC platform listing and release date from Rockstar or Take-Two; general comments about PC’s importance are not enough.
- Keep the November 19, 2026 date attached to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the platforms named in the announcement.
- Do not rely on guessed PC hardware requirements. No official PC specifications are established here.
- If considering the physical console version, note Rockstar’s statement that the retail box contains a download code, not confirmation of a game disc.
