For reliable information about Grand Theft Auto VI, start with Rockstar’s official game page, Rockstar Newswire, and the Rockstar Propaganda email newsletter. A leak site or social post is not official confirmation: trace its claim to a dated Rockstar source and check that the source says exactly what the post claims.
Which sources count as official?
Rockstar Support identifies the official Grand Theft Auto VI site, Rockstar Newswire, and the Rockstar Propaganda email newsletter as the best places to find information about GTA VI preorders. The official game page also gathers Rockstar videos, downloadable media, Newswire posts, social links, platform information, and current game details.
These channels are strongest for a specific reason: they establish what Rockstar itself has announced. A third-party article may accurately report an announcement, but for the original evidence, follow its link to Rockstar’s post or page.
How to judge a leak claim
- Identify the publisher. Is the item on a Rockstar-controlled page or a document Rockstar links to? A familiar account name, screenshot, or aggregator does not by itself establish who published the original.
- Open the original dated item. Prefer the official post or page over a repost, cropped image, or summary. Check its date so an old detail is not mistaken for current information.
- Match the evidence to the exact claim. If a post says Rockstar confirmed a feature, date, platform, or detail, look for that precise statement in the official source. If it is absent, call the claim unconfirmed rather than treating an inference as confirmation.
- Separate an event from the artifacts around it. Rockstar publicly addressed leaked GTA VI gameplay videos in August 2026. Game Informer reported the response on August 26, quoting Rockstar’s description of the leak as “heartbreaking.” That supports saying Rockstar responded to a leak event; it does not authenticate every clip, screenshot, build description, or accompanying story circulated with it.
- Distinguish leaks from authorized reveals. Official trailers, media, and announcements published through Rockstar channels are authorized material. A video described as leaked footage is not made official because it appears widely or is discussed by a reputable outlet.

What Rockstar’s footage policy says
Rockstar Games Customer Support’s policy on posting copyrighted Rockstar Games material, last updated January 10, 2025, says: “Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained.” The policy also says Rockstar welcomes fans uploading gameplay footage and may share some fan clips, but it expressly excludes leaked pre-release footage from its permitted examples. A leak is therefore not an authorized reveal simply because it is gameplay footage.

Current official GTA VI details to verify
When checked on October 9, 2026, Rockstar’s official GTA VI page listed a November 19, 2026 release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Those are the page’s listed details at that time, not a guarantee that they will never change. Check the official page again before relying on release, platform, or preorder information.
Rockstar Support’s preorder information article, last updated June 26, 2026, directs readers to the official GTA VI site, Newswire, and Rockstar Propaganda newsletter. For a claim about preorders, use those channels rather than a leak post or an undated listing.

A simple standard for sharing claims
- Confirmed: A dated official Rockstar source directly states the claim.
- Reported: An identifiable outlet reports it, but the claim is not directly established by an official source you can inspect.
- Unconfirmed: The claim rests on a leak, anonymous post, repost, or inference without direct attributable confirmation.
Use the label that fits the evidence, and link to the original official item whenever one exists. If no such item confirms the precise claim, do not describe it as Rockstar news.
