Grand Theft Auto VI has two named game editions: Standard and Ultimate. Standard includes the game itself. Ultimate includes the game plus the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade, which adds in-game vehicles, weapons, character customisation and locations. In the US PlayStation Store, Standard is listed at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99. A physical Standard package is a download code in a box, not a disc; there is no physical Ultimate Edition.
Rockstar’s separate The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is merchandise for collectors, not a third game edition or a bundle containing GTA VI.
At a glance: every GTA 6 option
| Option | What you receive | Format and price information |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | The complete Grand Theft Auto VI game. | Digital purchase or physical code-in-box package. The US PlayStation Store lists $79.99; local prices can differ. |
| Ultimate Edition | Grand Theft Auto VI plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and its listed in-game bonuses. | Digital edition. The US PlayStation Store lists $99.99; local prices can differ. |
| Ultimate Edition Upgrade | The Ultimate bonus content without buying the base game again. | Separate digital add-on for Standard owners after code redemption. Rockstar’s cited support details do not state its price. |
| The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection | A Rockstar collector box and related physical merchandise. | Sold separately as merchandise, not as a game edition or game bundle. Availability and regional pricing must be checked in the official store. |
Rockstar’s official editions page and platform and editions support article are the controlling references for contents and format. The announced launch date is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement.
What comes with the Standard Edition?
Standard is the straightforward choice: it contains Grand Theft Auto VI, with no Ultimate-only bonus package included at purchase. You can buy it digitally through your console storefront or as a boxed retail package.
#1 Best Overall
Digital Standard
A digital purchase is tied to the platform account and storefront where you buy it. The US PlayStation Store lists the PS5 Standard Edition at $79.99. That is a US storefront price, not a worldwide MSRP guarantee; check your local PlayStation or Xbox store for taxes, currency conversion and regional pricing.
Physical Standard is a code in a box
Rockstar says the physical Standard package contains a code for a digital download and no game disc. Treat it as a retail code-in-box product: you redeem the code on the eligible platform, download the game and then launch it from your console library. A boxed copy therefore does not provide the advantages of a disc, such as installing from physical media or lending a disc to another account.
Rockstar expects the physical code-in-box version to be available for shipping or pickup from November 12, 2026, so buyers can begin preload. The announced game launch remains November 19, 2026.

- Will take full advantage of the power of new generation systems and PC to deliver across-the-board enhancements including increased resolution and graphical detail, denser traffic, greater draw distances, upgraded AI, new wildlife, and advanced weather and damage effects for the ultimate open world experience.

- Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story.
- Includes Grand Theft Auto Online, the ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe.
- All new content and gameplay created and released since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online including new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations
What the Ultimate Edition adds
Ultimate contains the same base game as Standard and adds the Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Rockstar describes it as “An exclusive collection of items threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.” The upgrade is bonus content, not a second game, a separate campaign or a replacement for the base game.
Ultimate bonus categories
Rockstar’s support details list these additions:
- Additional vehicles.
- Additional weapons and weapon variants.
- Character styles for Jason and Lucia.
- Safehouse vehicles.
- A vehicle build.
- Access to mod shops.
- Access to a salon.
- Access to a clothing store.
- Access to a tattoo parlor.
- An illegal-goods location or compound.
- A Classic Car Collection.
The official pages use slightly different names for some items. The editions page calls one location the “PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store” and lists a “Classic Car Collection”; the support page refers to the “PTT Youngin$ Compound” and also specifies the buggy and garage. The editions page identifies a “’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy.” These wording differences reflect the labels on each official page, not evidence of separate editions. See the editions comparison and support listing for the current names.
Who should pay for Ultimate?
Ultimate makes sense if you already want the listed vehicles, customisation options and extra locations at launch and prefer one digital purchase. Standard is the lower-cost route if you primarily want the game and are undecided about cosmetic or in-world additions. The official US price difference shown on PlayStation is $20, but the separate upgrade’s price is not stated in Rockstar’s cited support information, so do not assume that buying Standard now and upgrading later will cost exactly the same as buying Ultimate upfront.

- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
Can Standard owners upgrade later?
Yes. After redeeming a Standard code, Rockstar says you can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade digitally through PlayStation or Microsoft. The upgrade adds the Ultimate content without requiring you to purchase Grand Theft Auto VI again.
- Redeem your digital purchase or the code from the physical Standard box on the platform account you intend to use.
- Install or add Grand Theft Auto VI to that account’s library.
- Open the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store while signed in to the same account.
- Find the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and confirm that it is listed as an add-on for your owned copy.
- Buy and download the upgrade, then restart the game if the new items do not appear immediately.
Rockstar does not publish the upgrade price in the cited support details. Store listings, taxes and regional pricing can change, so verify the amount on your platform before confirming payment.
Pre-order bonuses and the GTA+ month
Rockstar Support says digital preorders and digital purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. Take-Two’s June 24 announcement also describes this offer.
Rank #4
- Grand Theft Auto III: It all starts in Liberty City
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Welcome to the 1980s
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Five years ago, Carl 'CJ' Johnson escaped the haze of Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption.
Vintage Vice City Pack contents
- A ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan.
- A garage.
- Outfits and hairstyles.
- An exclusive weapon pattern.
These items are tied to the stated digital preorder or purchase window, not automatically to every copy bought after launch.
GTA+ redemption conditions
The US PlayStation Store says the one-month GTA+ offer auto-renews unless you cancel it. It also gives redemption instructions and a March 31, 2027 redemption deadline. Platform terms can differ, so read the live terms on the storefront where you buy and cancel recurring billing if you do not want a paid subscription to continue after the promotional month. Rockstar’s current preorder details are in its platform and editions article; the PlayStation offer language appears on the US PlayStation listing.
Digital versus physical: what changes?
| Consideration | Digital edition | Physical Standard package |
|---|---|---|
| What is delivered? | Game download through the console storefront. | A retail box containing a download code; Rockstar says there is no disc. |
| Ultimate availability | Standard or Ultimate can be purchased digitally. | No physical Ultimate Edition is offered. Redeem Standard, then buy the digital upgrade if wanted. |
| Preload timing | Rockstar says digital preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. | The expected November 12 shipping or pickup date is intended to support preload after code redemption. |
| Account dependency | Bound to the purchasing platform account. | The code must activate on a compatible platform account and region. |
Because the boxed version is only a code, check whether your console has enough storage and reliable download access before choosing it. A physical box does not remove the need to download the game.

Region and code-activation rules
Rockstar warns that code redemption depends on the platform-account region. PlayStation codes are grouped by purchase regions. Xbox codes are not region-locked according to Rockstar’s support article, but retailer and account rules can still affect a transaction.
- Buy from a retailer in the country associated with your PlayStation or Xbox account whenever possible.
- Read the retailer’s region wording before opening the box or revealing the code.
- Do not assume a code bought abroad will activate on a different country’s PlayStation account.
- If activation fails, contact the retailer and platform support with proof of purchase rather than repeatedly attempting unrelated accounts.
For the current country and storefront guidance, consult Rockstar’s pre-order details article and the platform, editions and versions article.
What the Vice City Collection is—and is not
The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a Rockstar collector’s box and related physical merchandise. Rockstar presents it separately from the Standard and Ultimate game editions on its official store and GTA VI game page.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
It is therefore not a third game edition, not the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and not a bundle that automatically supplies Grand Theft Auto VI. If you want to play the game, buy Standard or Ultimate (or Standard plus the later digital upgrade). If you want physical collectibles, check the collection’s current stock, contents and regional price separately.
Which GTA 6 option should you choose?
Choose Standard when:
- You want the base game at the lowest listed US price.
- You prefer to decide later whether the Ultimate bonuses are worth paying for.
- You are comfortable redeeming a digital code even when buying a boxed product.
Choose Ultimate when:
- You already want the listed bonus vehicles, weapons, styles and locations.
- You prefer to secure the Ultimate content in one digital transaction.
- You do not need a physical box, since Rockstar does not offer Ultimate on disc or as a physical code-in-box edition.
Buy the Vice City Collection only when:
- You are specifically looking for Rockstar merchandise and collectibles.
- You have separately secured a game edition if you intend to play GTA VI.
For either game edition, verify the storefront’s current price, preorder eligibility, subscription terms and regional activation rules immediately before checkout. Rockstar and platform listings can change before the November 19, 2026 launch.
