Neither Groza nor M416 is universally better. The answer depends on which PUBG game and mode you play, the current balance version, and which rifle you can control and use effectively. The figures available here are for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS only—not PUBG Mobile—and are third-party database listings, not results from gameplay testing.
First, identify which PUBG you mean
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and PUBG Mobile are separate games, so weapon stats should not be carried from one to the other. The PUBG Mobile Help Center lists both Groza and M416 as assault rifles, but it does not provide a performance comparison. The numeric comparison below therefore applies only to PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS.
For PUBG Mobile, use current information for the specific version and mode you play. The evidence cited here establishes the weapons’ class in Mobile, not their current damage, firing rate, recoil, availability, or which one performs better.

PUBG Database, a third-party game-data database accessed in 2026, lists these figures. Its table does not clearly identify the game-data version, so treat them as database listings rather than guaranteed current values.

On these listed values, Groza fires faster, while M416 has higher damage per shot. Neither number alone determines which weapon is better in a match: a weapon’s practical effectiveness also depends on whether you can land shots, the engagement, the mode and patch, and the weapon’s available attachments.
Why the numbers do not establish a winner
Damage and firing rate are only part of the comparison
Damage per shot and rounds per minute describe different properties. They do not, by themselves, establish time to kill or overall damage output in real play. The cited figures also do not account for a player’s accuracy or ability to manage the rifle.

Recoil and control matter in your hands
The figures above are not recoil measurements, and the sources do not establish that one rifle is easier to control. Your practical choice should reflect the weapon you can keep on target in the situations you encounter, rather than a presumed recoil advantage.

Mode, patch, availability, and attachments can change the decision
Weapon access and attachments may vary by game, mode, and balance update. Check the rules and current version for your specific match before treating a general stat listing as decisive.

What the M416 patch history can—and cannot—tell you
In PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Update 22.2, the developers reduced M416 damage from 41 to 40 and slightly increased its horizontal recoil. The patch notes described the rifle as “widely favored among ARs due to its excellent balance of firepower and stability.” That is the development team’s explanation for that update, not a current ranking or evidence about PUBG Mobile. The patch also stated a goal of letting players choose weapons that fit their playstyle rather than feeling forced to use one particular weapon to compete.
Because a later balance change may supersede an older patch, Update 22.2 is useful as historical context, not as proof of today’s stats. It also does not reconcile the current 39-damage database listing with the earlier 40-damage value: the database table does not clearly state its data version.

How to choose between them in your match
- Confirm the game and mode. Do not apply PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS database numbers to PUBG Mobile.
- Check the current version. Look for game- and mode-specific balance information; an older patch note may no longer describe the weapon.
- Compare your actual setup. Consider the attachments available to you and the ranges at which you expect to fight.
- Choose the rifle you can use reliably. If you cannot control a faster firing rate or consistently land shots, its listed advantage may not help you. The same principle applies to higher listed damage per shot.
Verdict: choose by game, patch, and control
For PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, the cited database gives Groza the higher listed rate of fire and M416 the higher listed damage per shot, but those figures do not prove an overall winner. For PUBG Mobile, the available official support information confirms both are assault rifles but does not settle the comparison. Pick based on current, game-specific conditions and the rifle you can control—not on stats transferred across games.
