To activate the Earth Mover in Grounded 2, repair all three breaks in its cable with three Sap Bandages, then press the button on the Funpit Works controller. The machine’s arm moves across a gap, creating a climbable route toward an entrance. The location and steps below come from a secondary walkthrough; because Grounded 2 is in Early Access, details may change.
Where to find the Earth Mover
Look west of Gnarly Bark’s base, near the toy car tracks, in Brookhollow Park. The location is also identified in the Grounded Wiki’s Sites & Wonders entry, though its page was not independently checked. The game remains in Early Access, so routes and mechanics may change; see Obsidian’s official Grounded 2 site for the game’s current context.
What you need to activate it
- Three Sap Bandages, made from Clover Leaf and Sap according to the walkthrough.
- Access to the Funpit Works controller after restoring the cable.
A mount may make one cable crossing easier, but the walkthrough does not say a mount is required to activate the machine.

How to repair the cable and activate the Earth Mover
- Find the exposed cable. Start near the Earth Mover and locate the black controller cable.
- Repair the first break. Follow the cable to its first damaged section and use one Sap Bandage.
- Cross the gap and repair the second break. Continue tracing the same cable and use a second bandage at the next damaged section.
- Follow the cable down to the third break. Keep going toward the central cavern area instead of returning after the second repair. Use your final Sap Bandage.
- Reach the controller. Return to the upper terrain and use the orange toy race-track structure to reach the Funpit Works controller above the Earth Mover area.
- Press the button. The walkthrough identifies it as a red button. Its indicator should turn green, and the Earth Mover’s arm should move across the gap.
The cable repairs restore power; pressing the controller button activates the machine. Climbing the arm and clearing the entrance are follow-on exploration, not activation requirements.

What the Earth Mover activation opens
The arm becomes a route across the gap and toward an entrance. The walkthrough says Dead Roots block the entrance and that an ant mount’s crunch attack can clear them. It also reports a Pincher Earwig nearby, so approach prepared. The account does not establish a separate quest payout, collectible, equipment reward, or permanent upgrade.
Climb toward the entrance
Return to the machine, use the stairs on its right side, then climb onto the Safety Matches box and the yellow hydraulic boom. Follow the arm toward the bucket and the blocked entrance.

If the controller does not activate
- Check all three breaks. Trace the cable from the machine, across the gap, and down into the central cavern to verify that every damaged section has been repaired.
- Check your bandage count. The walkthrough calls for three Sap Bandages, one for each break.
- Check the game version. Grounded 2 is an Early Access title, so progression issues are possible. The walkthrough does not identify a specific confirmed bug or official fix.
How reliable are these steps?
The detailed procedure and reported encounter come from Priya Singh’s Nerd’s Chalk walkthrough, updated August 26, 2026. The location is additionally supported by a Grounded Wiki search excerpt. Obsidian’s official site and Xbox Wire’s July 29, 2025 launch guide provide Early Access context, but do not verify the Earth Mover procedure. Xbox Wire quotes Grounded 2 Game Director Chris Parker describing the game as a chance to rebuild and expand the series with features such as mounts, biome structures, and a more narrative-driven experience. Treat the specific route as guide-reported rather than officially confirmed.
