If a Good Lock module stopped working after a One UI upgrade, first update Good Lock and the affected module from the Galaxy Store, restart the phone, and clear only that module’s cache. If the problem remains, reinstall the module and verify that it supports your Galaxy model, region, and One UI version. Samsung releases Good Lock modules separately from One UI, so a major system update can temporarily leave a module incompatible while its own update is pending.
The safest approach is to identify exactly what failed before changing settings. A missing module, an installation error, a crash, and a control that no longer responds can have different causes. Avoid jumping straight to clearing app data, resetting One UI Home, or performing a factory reset: those steps are broader and can erase customizations without fixing a compatibility gap.
Why Good Lock can fail after a One UI update
Good Lock is a suite of Samsung customization apps rather than one monolithic feature. Its modules are distributed and updated independently of the main One UI software package. When One UI changes system interfaces, permissions, or framework behavior, a module may need a compatibility release before all of its controls work again.

A Samsung Community manager explained on May 14, 2026, that Good Lock modules are updated separately from the main One UI update and that temporary compatibility problems can occur while those module updates are pending. That explains why the phone itself may update successfully while LockStar, Home Up, Theme Park, or another module is missing, crashes, or appears installed but has no effect.

Availability is not identical on every Galaxy device. Samsung says Good Lock features and module support vary by device and software version, and some devices may not be supported at all. Region, carrier configuration, Android version, One UI release, and the individual module can all affect what appears in the Galaxy Store.

Record the exact failure before changing anything
Write down the information Samsung support or a module developer will need. This also prevents you from installing an update intended for a different device or One UI branch.
- Galaxy model and, where relevant, the carrier or regional variant.
- Android version and One UI version. On many phones these are shown under Settings > About phone > Software information; menu wording can vary by model.
- Name of the affected Good Lock module.
- Installed version of Good Lock and the affected module.
- Whether the module is absent, refuses to install, crashes, or installs without applying its setting.
- The exact setting that fails, such as a lock-screen clock, home-screen layout, gesture, theme, or quick-panel control.
- When the problem began and whether it started immediately after the One UI update.
A screenshot of the module’s version page and the error message is useful, but do not include personal information in a public support post.
Fix Good Lock modules in the safest order
Work through these steps in order. Updating and restarting are low-risk; cache clearing is narrower than deleting app data; reinstalling is more disruptive and should come later.

1. Update Good Lock and the affected module
- Open the Galaxy Store and search for Good Lock. Install any available update.
- Search for the specific module separately, such as LockStar or another module that is failing, and install its update if one is offered.
- Open Good Lock and check its module list for update indicators. A current main app does not guarantee that every installed module is current.
- After the updates finish, open the module and test the exact feature that failed.
Samsung’s One UI troubleshooting guidance also recommends checking the Galaxy Store or Play Store for app updates when an app malfunctions after an operating-system upgrade. Good Lock modules are normally obtained through Samsung’s Galaxy Store, so check there first.
If no update appears, do not assume that the phone is permanently incompatible. Samsung may be releasing the module update separately or in stages. Check the module’s current listing, release notes, and compatibility statement later rather than repeatedly deleting system apps.
Check both update locations because the main Good Lock shell and each module can have separate version numbers. An update badge in Good Lock does not prove that a module’s Galaxy Store package has finished installing. Let each download complete, then reopen the module before judging whether the update worked.

Samsung has documented one specific Android 16 and One UI 8 problem: Adaptive Clock, also called Stretch Clock, may not work correctly with LockStar version 7.0.00.14. Samsung’s stated fix is LockStar 7.0.1.10.
To check this case, open the LockStar listing in the Galaxy Store, compare the installed version with the available version, and update if version 7.0.1.10 is offered for your device. Samsung’s support wording is specific to this Adaptive Clock problem; it is not a general instruction to install that version for every Good Lock module or every failure. Rollout timing and displayed versions can change by device and region.
If your symptom is unrelated to Adaptive Clock, do not treat the LockStar numbers as a universal compatibility target. Use the version shown for your own module and device, and rely on that module’s listing for its current package.
3. Restart the phone after updating
Restart the Galaxy phone once the Good Lock and module updates are complete. The restart reloads system services and applies module components that may not have been reattached to the new One UI framework. Test the module before making any deeper change.

A restart is also a useful checkpoint. If the feature works immediately afterward, no cache or reinstall step is needed. If it fails again only after a particular action, record that sequence for Samsung Members because it may identify a feature interaction rather than a damaged installation.
4. Clear only the affected module’s cache
Samsung Community guidance recommends clearing the cache of Good Lock or the module that is malfunctioning. Cache removal does not intentionally erase the module’s configuration, but labels can differ by model and country.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps.
- Select the affected Good Lock module. If the failure appears to involve the main Good Lock app, select Good Lock instead.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
- Open the module again and test the failed setting.
Do not choose Clear data at this stage. Cache clearing and data deletion are different operations, and the available guidance does not establish identical data-retention behavior for every Good Lock module.
If you cannot find the module under Apps, use the Settings search field for its exact name. Do not clear the cache for One UI Home merely because the affected customization changes the home or lock screen. The narrowest matching package is the safer target.

If updating, restarting, and clearing the cache do not help, uninstall and reinstall only the module that is failing.
- Open the Galaxy Store and go to the affected module’s listing.
- Choose the uninstall or remove option, if available.
- Restart the phone if the store or module requests it.
- Return to the listing and install the current version offered for your device.
- Re-enable the module’s settings and test the feature.
Reinstallation can remove the module’s local configuration. Record any important customizations first. Samsung’s guidance lists reinstallation as a next step, but it does not promise that every module preserves its settings during removal.
Reinstall only the affected package rather than removing Good Lock and every module at once. A broad uninstall makes it harder to tell which component caused the problem and increases the amount of customization you must set up again.
6. Verify device and software compatibility
Open the module’s Galaxy Store page and read its current device or software limitations. Good Lock’s listing states that some devices may not be supported, while Samsung’s regional Good Lock information also warns that features vary by device and software version.
Compatibility can change after a major One UI release. A module that worked on an older One UI build may temporarily disappear or stop installing until its developer publishes a compatible package. If the listing does not offer the module for your model or region, repeated cache clearing will not create support that Samsung has not released.
Compare the exact One UI branch, not just the Android number. Two Galaxy phones running the same Android generation can have different One UI builds, regional packages, or carrier software. Keep the listing’s supported-device text and your Software information screen together when contacting support.
Use the symptom-specific branch that matches your phone
The module disappeared
Search for the module directly in the Galaxy Store rather than relying only on the Good Lock home screen. If it is absent there as well, compare your model and One UI version with the listing’s supported-device information. A missing module can indicate availability restrictions or a pending compatibility release, not necessarily a damaged installation.

Do not sideload an old package simply to make the icon reappear. The documented path is to use the version Samsung offers for the device and region. An older package may be the very version that conflicts with the new One UI build.

Confirm that the phone has enough free storage, that the Galaxy Store is signed in normally, and that the device can install other Galaxy Store updates. If only this module fails, its package may not yet support your One UI build. Save the exact installation error and report it with the model and software version rather than attempting a factory reset.
Check again later if the listing says the module is unavailable. A separate module rollout can lag behind the operating-system update. The absence of an immediate update is not a published release date, so support cannot promise a universal waiting period.
The module crashes when opened
Complete the update and restart steps, then clear the module’s cache. If the crash continues, reinstall that module. Avoid clearing data for unrelated modules or One UI Home, because those actions broaden the disruption without addressing the identified package.
If the crash occurs only after selecting one particular option, capture that sequence. A module that launches normally but fails on one screen is a narrower report than a complete startup crash and may correspond to a specific compatibility defect.
The module opens, but the setting has no effect
First test whether the setting is enabled in the module and whether another customization is overriding it. Then check for a module update and any Samsung notice for your One UI version. A feature-level defect can remain even when the main Good Lock app launches normally.
Disable only the competing customization temporarily, if you know which one it is, and test again. Do not reset unrelated apps merely because the visible result appears on the home, lock, or quick panel. Keep the test reproducible so support can distinguish an override from an unsupported feature.
Only Adaptive Clock or Stretch Clock is affected
Treat this as the documented LockStar case before trying general resets. Check whether LockStar is version 7.0.00.14 and whether version 7.0.1.10 is available. The Samsung fix applies to the Android 16 and One UI 8 Adaptive Clock issue specifically.
Do not reset One UI Home as a routine Good Lock fix
Samsung documents that clearing One UI Home data resets the home-screen layout, settings, and apps to their defaults. That warning concerns the launcher and does not show that every Good Lock module’s data behaves the same way. Clearing launcher data is therefore not an ordinary first-line remedy for a broken Good Lock module.
Similarly, a factory reset is disproportionate for a module compatibility problem. The supported troubleshooting path is software-based: update the relevant apps, restart, clear the affected module’s cache, reinstall it if necessary, and confirm compatibility.
Do not confuse clearing cache with clearing data. Cache is temporary stored material; data deletion can remove local settings, layouts, or other state depending on the package. Because module behavior differs, preserve screenshots or notes of custom settings before any removal step.

How long should you wait for a module update?
There is no universal Samsung timetable for Good Lock module updates after a One UI release. Community reports about One UI 8.0 describe modules not working, but those reports are anecdotal and do not establish that every module has the same defect or that all users will receive a fix on the same day.
Use the module’s current Galaxy Store listing and Samsung support notices as the authoritative indicators for your device. Continue checking for the module update after the main One UI installation, especially when the module is present but a single feature is broken. If Samsung has not listed your model or software version as supported, waiting alone may not resolve the limitation.

The practical distinction is between a pending package and an unsupported combination. A pending package appears when the module is expected for your device but no update has reached the listing yet. An unsupported combination is indicated when Samsung’s listing excludes the model, region, or software branch. The first may be resolved by a later release; the second requires Samsung to add support.

Contact Samsung Support or submit a report through Samsung Members when the module remains broken after the complete sequence. Include:
- Galaxy model and country or carrier variant.
- Android and One UI versions.
- Good Lock and affected-module versions.
- Whether the module is missing, fails to install, crashes, or ignores a setting.
- Exact reproduction steps and the time the problem began.
- Screenshots or screen recordings showing the failure, with personal details removed.
Ask specifically whether the module supports your current One UI build and whether a compatibility release is pending. This gives support enough detail to distinguish a local installation problem from a release-wide defect.
Include the version numbers even if they look ordinary. Samsung’s documented LockStar fix demonstrates why a small version difference can matter: version 7.0.1.10 addresses the Adaptive Clock issue that affected 7.0.00.14.
