Go Basic is a travel insurance cover level, but the available policy documents do not support a definitive review of its current benefits or value. Go Insurance lists an Australian Leisure Travel Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) effective 1 August 2026; the detailed Go Basic wording available for review is from April 2022. The terms in force when a policy was issued govern that policy, so check your own documents before relying on any limit or inclusion.
Which Go Basic policy wording applies?
Go Insurance says the PDS sets out a policy’s terms, benefits, limits, conditions and exclusions. Its Australian PDS library lists a Leisure Travel PDS effective 1 August 2026, but the insurer cautions: “The PDS in force on the day your policy was issued — not necessarily the current version.” The issue date is shown on the Certificate of Insurance. That distinction matters: a newer PDS does not automatically change an existing policy. Use the Certificate of Insurance to identify the issue date, then check the corresponding PDS and schedule. A current library listing alone does not establish the benefits attached to an older policy or the exact Go Basic terms in the 2026 wording.
The Target Market Determination (TMD) has a different job. It describes the consumer class for whom the product was designed; it is not a substitute for the PDS when checking cover, limits or exclusions. Go Insurance’s TMD information

What did the older Go Basic wording include?
The April 2022 Australian policy wording is useful only as historical context. It lists these sections as standard for Go Basic:
- Sections 1, 2 and 3
- Sections 7, 8 and 9
- Sections 15 and 18
In that wording, the Disruption and Legal modules were not available with Go Basic. Some modules could be removed, while certain medical, liability and COVID-related sections were mandatory; optional extensions such as snow sports and water sports could be included. These details describe the 2022 wording and should not be assumed to apply to a policy issued under a later PDS. Go Insurance’s April 2022 policy wording

Historical schedule amounts—not current limits
The same 2022 wording listed the following Go Basic schedule figures. They are maximums under that dated wording, not verified limits for the PDS effective 1 August 2026.
| Benefit in the 2022 wording | Listed schedule amount |
|---|---|
| Overseas medical expenses | Unlimited |
| Emergency dental treatment | $500 |
| Cancellation or curtailment | $5,000 |
| Resumption of trip | $1,000 |
| Delay, loss or damage to property | $2,500 |

What did the older wording say about cancellation?
The 2022 cancellation section covered specified events subject to its conditions; it was not broad “cancel for any reason” cover. Examples included death, injury or illness affecting listed people; compulsory quarantine; certain transport disruption; specified damage to or burglary of the home; and qualifying official travel warnings issued after booking or policy purchase. Check the applicable PDS for the precise events, timing rules and evidence requirements. Go Insurance’s April 2022 cancellation terms
Is Go Basic enough for your trip?
The available information is not enough to make a current recommendation based on cover or price. The exact current Go Basic schedule, excesses, exclusions, eligibility wording and optional-cover terms have not been established here, and there is no live premium comparison or independent claims-outcome evidence. Compare the policy documents and quote for your own trip rather than relying on the Basic label or the historical figures.

What to verify before relying on a quote
An official quote-page result describes Australian-policy eligibility in terms of Australian residency, including residence in Australia within the prior three months and/or maintained Australian domicile. That is not enough to confirm an individual’s eligibility or the current rule: check the wording attached to the quote and policy before purchase. Go Insurance’s quote-page eligibility information
