The Gigaset GS6 Pro is a credible Fairphone 6 alternative if you want a removable 5,300 mAh battery, IP68-rated protection and wireless charging in one phone. It is not the stronger choice for every buyer: Notebookcheck’s review identifies Fairphone’s advantages in repair modularity and supply-chain transparency, while criticizing the Gigaset’s cameras and performance.
What makes the GS6 Pro different?
The GS6 Pro combines a user-removable 5,300 mAh battery with an IP68 rating and wireless charging. Notebookcheck describes that feature mix as unusual in its mid-range segment. A removable battery makes battery replacement more straightforward, but it does not by itself make the whole phone easier to repair than a modular design.
The review also notes a glass back and microSD expansion. These practical conveniences may appeal if you want expandable storage or wireless charging alongside a battery you can remove.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Fairphone’s edge in this comparison is the breadth of its repair approach and the information it publishes about sourcing and recycled materials. Notebookcheck says users can order and replace individual modules such as the display, camera and charging port. That is a more granular repair path than relying on a removable battery alone.
#1 Best Overall
- [Compatibility] Specifically designed to fit and protect Fairphone 6 (2025) & Fairphone 6 Plus+ (2026) Only.
- [Dual Layer Protection] Certified with ToughRhino Technology, fusing a flexible shock-absorbing TPU inner layer to a heavy-duty PC back shell for reliable drop protection.
- [Raised Edge Protection] Elevated bezels safeguard your camera and screen from accidental damage.
- [Enhanced Grip] Non-slip textured ridges along both side borders and back panel provide a confident hold, significantly reducing accidental hand slips while texting or snapping photos.
- [Seamless Access] Precise cutouts and responsive buttons ensure easy access and smooth everyday use.
The GS6 Pro’s German development and production should not be read as proof that its components are all German or European. Notebookcheck says they are not. Nor does the review present the Gigaset as matching Fairphone’s supply-chain transparency.
How do performance, cameras and display compare?
Notebookcheck’s review criticizes the GS6 Pro’s chipset as slow, with recurring stutters, and describes its cameras as weak and uncompetitive. Its 64 MP main camera lacks optical image stabilization, so the megapixel count alone does not establish image quality.

The review also reports poor display color calibration. It measured screen flicker at 485 Hz and notes that some sensitive users may still notice it. For HDR brightness, the prose gives a peak of 922 cd/m²; the measurement table lists a center maximum of 810 cd/m² and an HDR peak of 922 cd/m². These are review measurements, not a guarantee of what every user will experience.
What does the software-update promise mean?
Notebookcheck reports Gigaset’s promise of seven years of Android updates, alongside only two major Android-version upgrades, up to Android 17. The seven-year figure should not be mistaken for seven major Android releases.

Which phone should you choose?
| What matters most | Stronger fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Removable battery, IP68 and wireless charging together | Gigaset GS6 Pro | Notebookcheck identifies this combination as the phone’s distinctive hardware proposition. |
| Replacing individual parts such as the display or charging port | Fairphone 6 | Notebookcheck describes Fairphone’s separately orderable, replaceable modules. |
| Published supply-chain and recycled-material information | Fairphone 6 | Notebookcheck highlights Fairphone’s transparency in these areas. |
| Camera quality and smooth everyday performance | Do not choose the GS6 Pro on the assumption it excels here | Notebookcheck criticizes its cameras and chipset performance. |
Choose the GS6 Pro if its removable battery, IP68 protection and wireless charging are the features you value most, and you can accept the reviewed performance and camera compromises. Choose Fairphone if repairability across multiple components and sourcing transparency carry more weight. Neither is an unconditional winner: the right fit depends on which trade-off you are willing to make.
