The GIGABYTE AORUS FO32U2P is a strong choice for high-end gaming if you want 4K resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and QD-OLED image quality. Its standout extra is DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, which can deliver 4K/240Hz without Display Stream Compression when paired with compatible graphics hardware. The tradeoffs are OLED burn-in risk, VRR flicker in some dark scenes, raised blacks in ambient light, demanding GPU requirements, and a premium price.
FO32U2P pros and cons at a glance
| Pros | Cons and caveats |
|---|---|
| 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh ceiling | Running demanding games at very high frame rates in native 4K requires a powerful graphics card |
| QD-OLED contrast, deep blacks in dark rooms, and vivid color | Ambient light can raise perceived black levels, and the display may struggle against strong glare |
| Very fast response and low input lag in RTINGS testing | VRR flicker can appear when frame rates change in dark scenes |
| DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 supports DSC-free 4K/240Hz with compatible hardware | That advantage depends on the graphics card and may have little practical value if your current setup cannot use it |
| USB-C up to 65W and KVM support for a multi-computer desk | 65W may not adequately charge some high-power laptops |
| HDMI 2.1 and console support | Repeated static content can cause permanent OLED burn-in |
What you get from the FO32U2P
GIGABYTE specifies a 32-inch-class QD-OLED panel with UHD/4K resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms stated response time, 10-bit color, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and a 1.5M:1 contrast ratio. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Its feature set also includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, HDMI 2.1, USB-C power delivery, KVM, OLED care features, and an adjustable stand. GIGABYTE advertises a three-year premium warranty; check the terms for your country, particularly how OLED burn-in is handled. GIGABYTE’s product page
Why the FO32U2P is compelling for gaming
QD-OLED image quality and motion
RTINGS reports deep blacks in dark rooms, vivid colors, crisp motion, very fast response, and low input lag on its tested unit. Tom’s Hardware also found strong color coverage and described motion processing as superb. OLED’s per-pixel light control is especially effective in dim settings, where dark scenes can look deep and high-contrast.

Tom’s Hardware measured 265 nits peak white in SDR and 457 nits in HDR. Those are measurements from its review unit and test conditions, not guaranteed brightness figures for every unit or setting. Its specification table separately lists GIGABYTE’s 1,000-nit HDR claim for a 3% window; that figure is a manufacturer specification, not Tom’s measured result. Tom’s Hardware review and test results

240Hz at 4K, if your PC can drive it
The 240Hz ceiling is most useful in games where your system can produce high frame rates. Demanding games at native 4K can tax even powerful graphics cards; Tom’s Hardware notes that approaching 200fps at 4K in demanding titles calls for a top-of-the-line GPU. The monitor can still be used below 240Hz, but buying it for consistently high 4K frame rates makes sense only if your hardware and games support that goal.
Does DisplayPort 2.1 matter?
It matters if your graphics card supports the relevant DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 mode and you specifically want to run 4K at 240Hz without Display Stream Compression (DSC). GIGABYTE describes UHBR20 as providing 80Gbps bandwidth and says it can carry uncompressed 4K/240Hz. RTINGS likewise conditions DSC-free maximum refresh on a compatible graphics card. For buyers without compatible source hardware, DP 2.1 may not provide an immediate benefit. TechRadar’s 2024 review called the monitor very expensive and judged that most users in its review context would see little near-term value from DP 2.1. Consider your GPU’s actual output support rather than treating the port label alone as a reason to pay more. TechRadar’s review

Burn-in risk with persistent static elements
RTINGS warns that permanent burn-in is possible when static content remains on screen repeatedly. This is relevant to desks used for long work sessions with persistent taskbars, application panels, or other fixed interface elements. The monitor includes OLED care features, but their presence does not eliminate the underlying risk. Consider how much of your daily use involves static screens before choosing an OLED display.

VRR flicker and ambient light
RTINGS reports VRR flicker when frame rates change in darker scenes. If you are sensitive to flicker, that behavior may be distracting in games with fluctuating performance; the review says the MSI MPG 321URX may suit users who are more sensitive to it. RTINGS also reports raised black levels under ambient light, while TechRadar notes that the display is not bright enough to overcome strong glare. A dimmer room is a better fit for its strongest contrast performance.
Is the FO32U2P good for console gaming?
It is a capable console option if you want HDMI 2.1, VRR, fast response, and OLED image quality. RTINGS describes compatibility with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as excellent and reports lower input lag than the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM at both 60Hz and 120Hz in its comparison. Console buyers should not pay extra for DP 2.1 unless they also expect to use a compatible PC source.

USB-C and KVM for a work-and-play setup
The FO32U2P’s USB-C supports up to 65W power delivery, and its KVM feature can help switch between connected computers using a shared keyboard and mouse. That can simplify a desk with a laptop and gaming PC, but check your laptop’s charging requirements: 65W may be insufficient for some high-power models. RTINGS reports up to 90W USB-C power delivery for the MSI MPG 321URX, which may be a better match if higher charging capacity is a priority.

Do not assume the FO32U2 and FO32U2P have identical connectivity. RTINGS says its tested FO32U2P has DisplayPort 2.1, Mini DisplayPort, and USB-C power up to 65W. The FO32U2 lacks DisplayPort 2.1 and Mini DisplayPort and has 18W USB-C power. Verify the exact model designation and regional product listing before buying. RTINGS’ FO32U2P review
Who should buy the FO32U2P?
It is a good fit if
- You want 4K detail, a 240Hz maximum refresh rate, and QD-OLED contrast and color.
- Your PC has a powerful GPU, and you have checked whether it supports the DisplayPort 2.1 mode you want.
- You play on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and value HDMI 2.1, VRR, and OLED image quality.
- You want to share a monitor across computers and 65W USB-C charging meets your laptop’s needs.
Consider another type of display if
- Your workday is dominated by persistent static interfaces and you are not comfortable managing OLED burn-in risk.
- Your room is bright or has strong glare, or you need consistently deep blacks with ambient light present.
- You are particularly sensitive to VRR flicker in dark, variable-frame-rate scenes.
- You are price-sensitive and do not have a compatible source device or a specific need for DSC-free 4K/240Hz.
What to compare before choosing
RTINGS compares the FO32U2P with the MSI MPG 321URX, ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM, and LG 32GS95UE-B. Focus on the differences that affect your setup: DP 2.1 support, USB-C charging wattage, VRR flicker behavior, Dolby Vision support, console input lag, and current regional price and warranty. RTINGS says the ASUS received Dolby Vision support after a firmware update; verify current firmware and feature availability before relying on it. Prices, inventory, warranty terms, and firmware can vary by market and over time, so older review prices are not current quotes. RTINGS’ comparison information
