To fight the Giant Piranha in How to Fish, reach the second island, collect three leeches, and give them to the woman beside the lake. Use the bait she gives you to summon the boss. After defeating it, pick up the Giant Piranha Skeleton and return it to her to continue toward Island 3.
What you need before summoning the Giant Piranha
- Access to the second island, also called Forest Island or Island 2 in guides.
- Three leeches to exchange with the woman beside the lake.
- A ranged weapon and healing or food prepared before you start the encounter.
How to summon the boss
- Collect three leeches on the second island.
- Take them to the woman beside the lake and exchange them for the boss bait. Guides call the item either “Modified Leech” or “Leech Bait”; use the name shown in your inventory.
- Equip the bait and cast it into the lake. The Giant Piranha appears and combat begins, so finish preparing before you cast.
How to beat the Giant Piranha
Set up for movement
Choose open ground near the lake where you have room to move. Bring healing or food, and equip a ranged weapon before summoning the boss. Guides recommend a shotgun or pistol, but they do not establish one as a universally better choice. Use the weapon that lets you attack effectively at your preferred range while staying mobile.
Stay mobile and manage smaller piranhas
Keep moving instead of standing still to trade attacks. Focus on the Giant Piranha when you have a clear opportunity. If smaller piranhas block your route or make it difficult to aim, deal with them, then return your attention to the boss.

What to do after the fight
Pick up the Giant Piranha Skeleton after the boss is defeated and bring it back to the woman beside the lake. Guides describe this hand-in as providing coordinates or access needed to continue to Island 3, so the encounter is not complete for progression until you return the Skeleton.
