Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is the simplest way for PS5 newcomers to get the main adventure and its paid additions together. If you already own the game, the separate upgrade costs less than the full edition and adds the new Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion and Most Wanted survival mode. Those additions broaden the package, but MeriStation’s Complete Edition review says they do not radically change the core experience.
One important distinction: the free October 1, 2026 patch also adds Beauty of Yōtei and Watanabe Mode tracks. They are not exclusive to Complete Edition buyers.

What does Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition include?
The edition is a PS5 bundle of the original open-world adventure, its new paid content, Legends, and specified Digital Deluxe items. Sucker Punch’s August 12, 2026 announcement names the main game, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, Digital Deluxe content, and Charm of Hokkyokusei.

The UK PlayStation Store listing gives a more specific item list:

Store contents and wording can vary by territory, so confirm the local listing before purchase. The UK listing describes Legends as supporting two to four players; Sucker Punch says it supports up to four. Downloading Legends requires a PlayStation internet connection and account, and the UK listing says PlayStation Plus is required for online play or multiplayer.
What the new paid additions do
Echoes of Sekigahara adds a new area of Ezo, new enemies, a new weapon type, and more of Atsu’s history during the Battle of Sekigahara. Most Wanted is a combat survival mode built around enemy waves, boss encounters, and unlockable rewards. Legends is the co-op mode included in the bundle.
What is free, and what is paid?
The Complete Edition and its upgrade package paid additions, but not every feature arriving around its release is paid. Sucker Punch’s announcement says the October 1, 2026 patch makes Watanabe Mode’s new music tracks available for free and adds Beauty of Yōtei, an environmental, screensaver-like mode. The PlayStation page describes other additions as well. These patch features should not be treated as Complete Edition exclusives.

- Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.
- Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu’s quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance. Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.
The announcement also mentioned an early unlock of Sakai Armor for digital purchasers by September 30, 2026. That deadline has passed, so it is not an active offer.

Check your current local listing before buying: prices and availability can differ by territory. The Complete Edition physical version was announced for October 1, 2026; the associated trailer description says the digital edition is available to purchase. Physical stock and formats may depend on the retailer and region.

Is the upgrade worth it if you already own the game?
The upgrade is the relevant option for existing owners: compare its local price with the full edition, which also includes the base game. Its main reasons to return are the new story and survival mode, rather than a wholesale redesign of the adventure you have already played.

MeriStation’s October 2, 2026 Complete Edition review awarded it 9 and described the package as particularly suited to players who had not yet bought Yōtei. The outlet also said the additions do not radically transform the core game. That score and assessment belong to MeriStation, not a review aggregate or firsthand testing here.
- Consider upgrading if you want more of Atsu’s story, enjoy wave-based combat, or plan to play Legends with others.
- Wait or skip if the base campaign already felt complete to you and the expansion and survival mode do not sound compelling. The free patch features do not require the paid upgrade.
What is the base game like?
Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone PS5 adventure set in 1600s rural Japan, roughly 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. It follows Atsu, a mercenary on a path involving vengeance and redemption, through northern Japan’s Ezo region. Sony’s October 2, 2025 launch announcement presents it as a new hero’s story, not a continuation requiring players to have completed the earlier game.

Reviewers of the base game praise its landscape, combat, cinematic presentation, and exploration, while noting familiar open-world activities that may become repetitive. TechRadar also identified accessibility gaps, including the absence of colorblind options. These are base-game review findings, not claims about new Complete Edition content. Tom’s Guide similarly describes a polished, cinematic open-world game with familiar underlying design.
Sony says the game uses DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and identifies PS5 Pro features including PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution and advanced ray tracing. The store marks Complete Edition as PS5 Pro Enhanced. TechRadar’s reviewer tested the original game on PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim for more than 55 hours; that is the reviewer’s testing time, not a completion-time estimate or a performance benchmark for Complete Edition.
Verdict: who should buy it?
For a newcomer who wants the full adventure and its paid additions, Complete Edition is the straightforward bundle. For someone who already owns the base game, the upgrade avoids buying that game again, but its value depends on wanting Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted enough to pay the local upgrade price. The original game’s strengths remain its cinematic exploration and combat; the new package adds more to do without fundamentally changing that formula.
