Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is available on PS5 with the complete story campaign, Ghost of Yōtei Legends multiplayer, the new Most Wanted roguelike mode and the narrative expansion Echoes of Sekigahara. The expansion uses flashbacks to look past Atsu’s revenge mission, while new combat systems and a larger-feeling region broaden the game beyond its original campaign.
What is included in Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition?
Sony Interactive Entertainment describes Complete Edition as a PS5 package containing the original story campaign, Ghost of Yōtei Legends multiplayer and two major additions: Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara. It is a rerelease of the PS5 game first released in 2025, now presented with its substantial post-launch content in one edition.

The story is divided between Atsu’s present-day journey and flashbacks to her time on the mainland. That structure is central to the expansion rather than a cosmetic bonus: it supplies context for the person Atsu was before the revenge quest defined her.

How Echoes of Sekigahara changes Atsu’s story
Flashbacks show the person behind the mission
Parker Hamilton says the original game delivered the revenge story Sucker Punch wanted to tell, but the team wished it had more time to explore Atsu’s past. Echoes of Sekigahara is designed to provide that missing layer. Joanna Wang describes the original as a complete story, then says the expansion goes “one layer down” to show what changed Atsu and reveal another side of her personality.

Erika Ishii, who performs Atsu, describes working across “two periods of Atsu’s life.” She built enough of the character’s earlier experiences to move between those periods in the recording booth, so the flashbacks can illuminate her behavior in the present rather than simply interrupt it.
The Snake gets a second dramatic purpose
The Snake, one of the Yōtei Six, is killed within roughly the first 10 minutes of the base game. Wang says the team liked the character but introduced the Yōtei Six early, making him the first to die. Echoes of Sekigahara brings Atsu to a region where The Snake had a greater impact and follows outlaws competing to claim his title.

That premise does not resurrect the original antagonist. Instead, it uses the people fighting over his name to add context to his reputation and to the world Atsu is investigating.
Combat and world changes in the expansion
New tools are meant to work beyond the add-on
Hamilton says Echoes of Sekigahara introduces mechanics that players can take back into the wider game. The examples he discusses include massive weapons and an armored brute that requires players to use the tools already available to them rather than relying on one favored attack. The stated goal is to make the additions part of the broader combat system, not disposable abilities confined to the expansion.

A region built to feel open-ended
Wang calls the expansion’s setting the highest region in the Ghost games. She says the wind feels stronger, there is no mountain blocking the view and the landscape should feel endless because Mount Yōtei is no longer the central compass of the world. This is a different spatial idea from a map organized around one dominant landmark: the terrain is intended to encourage looking outward rather than constantly orienting toward a peak.
Hokkaido references and a wider color palette
The production-art process drew on research references from Hokkaido. The team also deliberately broadened the palette, asking what colors of flowers had not yet appeared in the game. That approach supports the expansion’s visual identity without treating historical or geographic reference as a promise of exact reconstruction.
What is Most Wanted?
Most Wanted is a separate roguelike mode with a more mystical tone than the main campaign. Ishii says it is non-canonical and therefore can take on a heightened feeling similar to the mythological qualities of Legends multiplayer. Its events should not be read as a definitive continuation of Atsu’s established story.
The mode does contain new dialogue. Jin also returns, and Daisaku Tsuji recorded new voice lines for him. Those appearances make Most Wanted a substantial character-driven mode even though its events sit outside canon.

How historical is Echoes of Sekigahara?
The title invokes the Battle of Sekigahara, one of Japan’s most famous conflicts, but Wang stresses that Sucker Punch is not making a historical document or recreating the battle one-to-one. The team is telling a story through Atsu’s perspective. In practice, that means the historical setting provides context and texture while the expansion remains a character-focused Ghost story rather than a military simulation or documentary reconstruction.
What the veterans’ comments reveal about Sucker Punch
VGC’s October 15, 2026 interview identifies Wang and Hamilton as having more than three decades of combined experience at Sucker Punch. Wang joined during development of the second Sly Cooper game, when artists painted characters instead of using the normal-map workflows common in later production. Her description—“I joined when everything was painted”—connects the studio’s early hand-crafted art practices with the visual ambition of its Ghost games.
That is a useful, limited history of the studio: veteran staff carried techniques and production memory from the Sly Cooper era into later open-world samurai games. The available interviews do not establish a complete founding chronology, ownership timeline or exhaustive game-by-game history, so those details should not be inferred from these comments.

Who should choose Complete Edition?
- New PS5 players: Complete Edition is the all-in-one way to get the campaign, Legends, Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.
- Players who already own the base game: Compare the edition’s regional upgrade path and current price with the standalone availability of the two additions; those terms differ by market and are not fixed by the developer comments.
- Players focused on canon: Echoes of Sekigahara expands Atsu’s story, while Most Wanted is explicitly non-canonical and more mystical.
- Players interested in combat variety: The expansion’s massive weapons, armored enemies and carry-over mechanics are the most relevant additions to ordinary play.
The official PlayStation interview was published October 2, 2026, and the VGC interview followed October 15, 2026. Neither source supplies sales, player-count, map-size or performance statistics, so those figures are not part of what can currently be established about the edition.
