Neither GFiber nor AT&T Fiber is the better choice everywhere. First check whether both serve your exact address. If they do, compare the final monthly price for a tier that fits your household, then look at upload needs, included Wi-Fi equipment and installation terms. Both advertise fiber service with symmetrical or equal upload and download capability, no annual contract, no data caps and included Wi-Fi equipment; actual availability, performance and billing depend on your address, setup and current offer.

Check availability before comparing plans

Fiber coverage is address-specific: a nearby home may qualify when yours does not. Enter the full service address in each provider’s availability tool before weighing prices or speeds. GFiber publishes its plans and availability; AT&T’s comparison page also directs customers to check eligibility. Neither provider’s citywide coverage claims can establish service at an individual address.

Compare the advertised plans and prices

The listed prices below are the providers’ current advertised figures on their official pages, accessed in 2026. They are not a guarantee of the price or plan offered at a particular address. Confirm the offer and any discount conditions in the order summary.

Provider Advertised fiber tiers Price information
GFiber Core 1 Gig; Home 3 Gig; Edge 8 Gig $70/month for 1 Gig; $100/month for 3 Gig; $150/month for 8 Gig. Confirm address eligibility and current offer.
AT&T Fiber Internet 300, Internet 500, Internet 1000, 2 GIG and 5 GIG AT&T says eligible fiber plans can receive a $10/month AutoPay and paperless billing discount. The applicable plan price and offer depend on address; check checkout for the discount and final amount.

AT&T says eligible plans do not have a price increase at 12 months. That claim does not establish your tax-inclusive bill, so use the order summary to compare the amount you will actually pay. GFiber’s listed plan prices should likewise be checked against the offer for your address.

Choose speed for the household, not the biggest number

Both providers advertise symmetrical or equal upload and download capability on their fiber plans. Higher tiers can be useful when multiple people work, stream, game or transfer large files at once, but the advertised maximum is not the speed every device will see. Your connection, router, wiring and device capabilities all matter.

When a lower tier may be enough

A household with ordinary browsing, video streaming and occasional video calls may not need a multi-gig plan. Compare the lower tiers available at your address and consider how many people use the connection at the same time.

When more upload or capacity may matter

Frequent large uploads, cloud backups, several simultaneous video calls, or many demanding users can make upload capacity and headroom more valuable. Compare like-for-like tiers rather than assuming a higher download headline alone will improve every task.

Understand wired speed limits

AT&T states that its 5 GIG plan’s maximum speed to a single wired device is 4.7 Gbps, and that its speed claims assume a wired connection; actual speeds may vary. A device connected over Wi-Fi, or one with slower network ports, will not necessarily reach the plan’s advertised maximum. See AT&T’s plan details.

Compare equipment and installation details

Both providers advertise Wi-Fi equipment with fiber service and say there is no equipment fee. The included setup is not identical across plans, so check the exact gateway, router and extender configuration for your address before deciding you need to buy anything extra.

  • GFiber: Its plan page describes included Wi-Fi, a mesh-ready router and installation; equipment configuration can vary by plan. GFiber says customers may use their own router connected to the Fiber Jack’s Ethernet port. It offers free self-install and professional installation, according to its plans page and FAQ.
  • AT&T: It includes a wireless gateway and says customers may use their own Wi-Fi equipment, subject to compatibility and feature support. Its comparison page describes self-install or technician installation at no cost. Check AT&T’s comparison details.

If you plan to use your own router, verify compatibility and port speeds against the tier you order. Since both providers include equipment, a separate router is an optional choice for a specific coverage or networking need, not a prerequisite.

Check contract, data and billing terms

Both providers advertise no annual contract and no data caps. GFiber says its plans have no early termination fee, equipment rental fee or data overage fee. AT&T says its fiber plans have no annual contract, data cap or equipment fee. Review the current terms and order summary for your address, especially any payment requirements tied to an advertised discount. Sources: GFiber FAQ and AT&T comparison.

Make the choice using your final order details

  1. Check both providers with the exact service address.
  2. Pick tiers that make sense for your household’s simultaneous use, upload activity and wired-device capabilities.
  3. Compare the current monthly price for those tiers, including any discount conditions and taxes shown at checkout.
  4. Confirm the included gateway, Wi-Fi equipment, extender arrangement and installation option.
  5. Review the order summary and service terms before placing the order.

Do not treat provider comparison pages as independent performance tests. GFiber reports that it received the JD Power residential wired internet award for the South Region in 2023, 2024 and 2025; that is a company-reported regional award claim, not proof of a universal service-quality advantage over AT&T. The provider pages do not establish a neutral head-to-head speed or reliability result for your home.
