GetMentions AI combines AI-answer monitoring with a service for pursuing digital placements, but its public evidence does not establish that buying a placement will improve AI visibility, traffic, or revenue. Its documented workflow can help a brand identify where competitors appear in cited sources and the brand does not, then request work such as an existing-page mention, new editorial content, or a YouTube mention. Treat that as a way to find and manage opportunities—not proof of results.

What GetMentions AI does

GetMentions AI is a web-based AI visibility platform aimed at brands and agencies. The company describes a two-part workflow: monitor brand appearances in AI answers and the sources those answers cite, then use those findings to pursue digital placements. Its public materials describe tracking across major answer engines and examining cited websites, pages, communities, and videos. GetMentions AI’s product site

The practical distinction is important: monitoring reports what the platform observes; placement services attempt to change a brand’s presence on third-party properties. A cited-source gap can suggest an opportunity, but it does not show that the source is open to influence or that a placement will be cited later.

How the citation-gap workflow is supposed to work

Inspect sources and brand coverage

The vendor’s Citation Intelligence documentation describes domain- and URL-level views, source classification, brand and competitor presence, citation share, and brand coverage. It also describes context about the prompt funnel, an influenceability status, rechecks, filters, and CSV export. These are product capabilities as described by the vendor, not independently verified performance claims. Citation Intelligence

Prioritize possible opportunities

GetMentions says its opportunity scoring uses signals such as citation strength and velocity, competitor presence, funnel stage, relevance, and influenceability. These signals can help organize a prospect list. They cannot by themselves establish that a publisher will accept a request, that an editorial mention will be appropriate, or that an answer engine will use the resulting page.

Request and manage placements

The vendor’s Brand Mentions page describes several execution options: adding a brand to an existing listicle, comparison, review, guide, or resource page; commissioning new editorial content; and arranging YouTube mentions in reviews, top lists, comparisons, tutorials, or explainers. The documented order flow includes requesting pricing or outreach, approving offers, tracking work through a live URL, messaging support within an order, and paying from a prepaid wallet with invoices. The company also advertises a network of “192,000+” publishers, creators, or partner websites. That number is a company claim, not an independently audited inventory count. Confirm what inventory is actually available for your market and category rather than treating the headline figure as a guarantee of suitable placements. GetMentions AI about page

What the evidence says—and does not say

Source changes make single snapshots unreliable

In a 2026 guide, GetMentions says it analyzed 530,875 citations from 2,398 real-world queries. The company says it asked those queries once daily for seven days across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, and Gemini, and found that 69% of sources in a typical answer changed from one day to the next. It reports daily source changes of 88% for Gemini and 44% for Perplexity. GetMentions characterizes this as directional evidence from one seven-day window, not a universal or stable churn rate. For a buyer, the useful implication is to measure a representative prompt set repeatedly rather than infer a durable trend from one capture. GetMentions AI visibility guide

Correlations do not show that placements cause visibility

The same company guide reports correlations across 75,000 brands: about 0.737 for YouTube mentions, 0.66–0.71 for branded web mentions, and about 0.22 for backlinks in relation to AI visibility. GetMentions explicitly notes that correlation is not causation. These figures do not prove that buying a mention or link will increase a brand’s visibility; other factors may contribute to both the mentions and the observed visibility. Independent public proof is limited

An AI Journal review published in 2026, with a pricing snapshot dated August, describes inspecting stored answer text and cited URLs. The reviewer also says public proof is thin for buyers seeking public case studies or independent benchmark tests. That is one reviewer’s assessment, not a broad independent study. The available evidence does not independently validate placement outcomes at scale. AI Journal’s GetMentions AI review

The company’s April 23, 2026 launch announcement quotes founder Anirudh Agarwal: “Most AI visibility tools stop at telling brands where they stand. We built GetMentions AI to help them change that.” It captures the product’s intended positioning, but remains a company launch statement rather than third-party validation. Costs and platform coverage need a plan-level check

The AI Journal review says standard subscription plans included any four of six standard platforms, rather than all six by default, and that placement quotes were charged per opportunity on top of the subscription. Its price information is an August 2026 snapshot, so it should not be treated as a current quote. Verify the plan’s included engines, prompt and refresh limits, subscription charge, and separate placement spend directly before budgeting. AI Journal’s GetMentions AI review

For a meaningful comparison, ask vendors to specify engine and market coverage, prompt volume and refresh cadence, whether saved answer text and cited URLs are inspectable, how opportunities are judged influenceable, the type and editorial terms of each placement, and what post-placement measurement is included. Subscription access and execution spend are separate decisions.

Questions to ask before placing an order

  • Which four platforms, if applicable, are included in the plan you are quoting, and can you change the mix?
  • How often are prompts refreshed, and can the setup reflect the relevant geography, language, and model or platform?
  • What exactly does the quoted placement include: an existing-page addition, new editorial content, or a video mention?
  • Can you reject a publisher or draft, and what editorial control remains with the publisher or creator?
  • What counts as completed work, and will you provide a live URL and any applicable sponsorship or link disclosures?
  • Can you show examples relevant to my category and explain what evidence connects delivery to later AI visibility or business outcomes?
  • How will we recheck the original prompts, source citations, and brand mentions after the placement, and over what period?

Who may find it useful

The platform may suit a brand or agency that wants source-level visibility data alongside a managed way to request mentions, and is prepared to evaluate each placement on editorial relevance, terms, and subsequent measurements. It is a weaker fit for a buyer who needs independently demonstrated results before spending on placements, expects every engine in a subscription by default, or treats a citation gap as proof that a publisher can be persuaded to fill it.
