The KEF LS LUXE is a premium active wireless stereo system: each speaker has built-in amplification, network streaming and a range of physical inputs. Its larger 6.5-inch Uni-Q array and sculptural cabinet set it apart from KEF’s LS50 Wireless II, while independent reviewers praise its controlled, detailed sound but stress that placement can matter. The main buying question is whether its design and integrated setup justify a premium price—and whether you need the optional dedicated stands.

What the KEF LS LUXE is

KEF describes the LS LUXE as a premium wireless bookshelf speaker system designed with Ross Lovegrove. It is an active stereo system, so amplification is built in rather than supplied by a separate receiver or power amplifier. KEF’s official specifications list a 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q array in each speaker, comprising a 165 mm aluminium low/mid-frequency cone and a 25 mm vented aluminium dome tweeter with MAT. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. KEF LS LUXE specifications.

KEF specifies 280 W of Class D amplification for low frequencies and 100 W of Class AB amplification for high frequencies. Its stated frequency response is 42 Hz–28 kHz (±3 dB), measured at 85 dB/1 m and dependent on EQ settings. The company says its Music Integrity Engine, VECO motion-sensing feedback and current-drive amplification contribute to the system’s operation; those are descriptions of KEF’s own technologies, not independently established performance findings.

How it compares with the LS50 Wireless II

The clearest hardware distinction is the driver size: KEF lists a 6.5-inch 12th-generation Uni-Q array for the LS LUXE and a 5.25-inch Uni-Q driver for the LS50 Wireless II. KEF also identifies VECO and current-drive amplification as features of the LS LUXE, and positions its curved, Lovegrove-designed cabinet as a more sculptural alternative to the LS50 Wireless II’s conventional engineered appearance. • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Those differences do not settle which system will suit a particular room or listener. Consider the LS LUXE if the larger array and distinctive cabinet appeal to you, and compare current local prices rather than relying on launch-period figures. If the speakers will serve a television, check whether you need HDMI eARC; if you stream through a particular service, confirm that it is available in your country.

Connections, streaming and format limits

KEF lists HDMI eARC, optical, digital coaxial and analogue 3.5 mm inputs, plus network Ethernet and an Ethernet connection between the speakers. Wireless and network options include AirPlay, Google Chromecast, Bluetooth 5.3, UPnP and services including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music and Deezer. Service availability varies by country, so confirm support for your location and preferred service on KEF’s product information. KEF’s connectivity and playback specifications.

It says sources are resampled to 96 kHz/24-bit when the speakers use a wireless interspeaker connection, and to 192 kHz/24-bit when connected to each other by wire. Roon Ready is marked by KEF as “Expected release in 2027”; it should be treated as planned, not as a feature currently available.

What independent reviewers say about the sound

TechRadar calls the LS LUXE a “deftly accomplished listen” and describes detail and an energetic presentation. Its review also recommends careful positioning and notes a somewhat restricted soundstage. These are that reviewer’s listening impressions, not a promise that every room or setup will produce the same result. TechRadar’s LS LUXE review.

What Hi-Fi? describes a mature, even-handed and authoritative presentation in its listening test. The publication used the dedicated S-LUXE stands and a wired interspeaker connection, and reports trying different placements and app calibration. That context matters: the review’s impressions reflect its setup and listening, rather than a universal placement prescription. What Hi-Fi?’s LS LUXE review.

What Hi-Fi? also quotes KEF Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Dr Jack Oclee-Brown explaining the active design: “One of the huge advantages of an active speaker is that there is one dedicated amplifier for each driver.” His description of KEF’s use of Class D for low frequencies and Class A/B for high frequencies is the manufacturer’s explanation of its design, not an independent conclusion about sound quality.

It reports launch-period S-LUXE stand prices of $799, £799 and AU$1,199, respectively. TechRadar’s reported launch prices.

Who should consider the LS LUXE?

  • It may fit your needs if you want a self-contained stereo system with built-in amplification, streaming and both television and audio inputs, and you value its sculptural design.
  • Think carefully about room placement if you have limited flexibility. TechRadar specifically notes positioning and soundstage considerations, while What Hi-Fi? reports experimenting with placement in its own setup.
