Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

First check which program is failing: current Logitech G HUB and legacy Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) are different apps, and Logitech’s service-restart instructions apply to G HUB—not LGS. If G HUB opens to a spinning logo, restart its service before reinstalling. If it never appears, or the service restart does not help, reboot and then try Logitech’s reinstall steps.
Identify the app and the kind of launch failure
Look at the app name in the Start menu, taskbar, or installed-app list. If it says Logitech G HUB, use the G HUB steps below. If it says Logitech Gaming Software, it is the older LGS program; skip the G HUB service procedure and use the LGS guidance near the end.
Also note what happens when you try to open it: no window appears, an error message appears, or G HUB shows a spinning G logo indefinitely. Record the exact error, your Windows version, and whether the problem began after an update. These details help distinguish a stuck service from an installation problem.
Fix G HUB when the logo keeps spinning
Logitech says G HUB relies on a service for important operations and that a stuck service can cause the spinning-logo symptom. Its suggested first attempt is to stop the app processes, restart the service, and then relaunch G HUB.

- Quit G HUB. If it is running in the notification area beside the clock, right-click its icon and choose the quit or exit option.
- End the G HUB processes. Open Task Manager, find and end
LGHUB Agentand the other processes namedLGHUB. LeaveLGHUB Updaterrunning. - Restart the service. In Task Manager, open the Services tab, find
LGHUBUpdaterService, and restart it. Wait 10–15 seconds and confirm its status is Running. - Open G HUB again. Launch it from Start or its shortcut and see whether it gets past the logo.
If the service is not listed, will not restart, or G HUB still hangs, restart Windows and try launching G HUB once more. These steps are for G HUB; they are not confirmed fixes for LGS.
Reinstall G HUB if restarting Windows does not help
Use reinstall as the next escalation if the service restart and reboot fail, particularly if the launch problem began after an update or the installation appears damaged. Start with Logitech’s installer before deleting app data.

- Get the current G HUB installer from Logitech. Run it and choose its reinstall option if one is offered.
- If automatic reinstall fails, close G HUB and end its processes. In Task Manager, end
LGHUB.exe,lghub_agent.exe, andlghub_updater.exe, if present. - Remove the specified app-data folders. Delete the
LGHUBfolder under your user’sAppDataRoamingdirectory. Also deleteLGHUBandold.LGHUB, if present, underC:ProgramData. - Restart Windows, then install G HUB again using the installer downloaded from Logitech.
Manual cleanup is more disruptive than an ordinary reinstall: those folders contain app data, and Logitech does not promise that profiles or settings stored there will be preserved. Back up anything you need before deleting them. AppData may be hidden in File Explorer; if you cannot find the folder, use Windows’ hidden-items display option or enter the path in File Explorer’s address bar.

- If Windows reports Access Denied, Logitech advises using an account with Administrator permissions.
- If a folder will not delete, restart Windows and try the cleanup again.
- If installation trouble continues, check Windows Updates and install available updates.
- Logitech’s installation troubleshooting also suggests temporarily disabling antivirus for a failed installation attempt. Do this only if needed, restore protection immediately afterward, and do not leave the computer unprotected.
- If G HUB still will not open, contact Logitech support with the exact error, Windows version, and the steps you have already tried.
What to do if the app is legacy Logitech Gaming Software
Do not apply the G HUB service instructions to LGS. Logitech’s legacy guide instead directs users to launch LGS from Windows Start search or the Start menu, or from its taskbar icon, and check whether it is running. If the software or relevant device drivers were not installed, the guide calls for a full installation with the applicable software and drivers.

That guide refers to Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP SP2. Those are historical operating-system references, not evidence that current Windows versions are supported. Before changing Windows versions or reinstalling LGS, check current Logitech support information for your specific device and operating system. If Start search finds no LGS entry and its taskbar icon is absent, verify that LGS is installed rather than assuming G HUB’s troubleshooting applies.
