To evolve Applin into Flapple, you need 200 Applin Candy and 20 Tart Apples. For Appletun, you need 200 Applin Candy and 20 Sweet Apples. Find Applin through encounters available in the game, collect the matching resources, then evolve it from its Pokémon summary.
What you need for each evolution
| Evolution | Applin Candy | Apple item |
|---|---|---|
| Flapple | 200 | 20 Tart Apples |
| Appletun | 200 | 20 Sweet Apples |
These requirements were announced by the Pokémon GO team. The apple types are not interchangeable: Tart Apples are for Flapple, and Sweet Apples are for Appletun.
How to get Applin and evolve it
- Find Applin. Check the current in-game map and event listings for available encounters. During its April 2025 debut event, Applin was listed among wild encounters, and tapping a wild apple could also lead to an Applin encounter. That event has ended; its encounter details do not establish today’s spawn availability.
- Collect 200 Applin Candy. Catching Pokémon of the same species awards that species’ Candy. The Pokémon GO Help Center explains that the Evolve control remains unavailable until the required Candy is collected.
- Collect the apple item for your chosen evolution. Gather 20 Tart Apples for Flapple or 20 Sweet Apples for Appletun. The official debut announcement described tapping wild apples to receive an apple item or a Pokémon encounter, including Applin when lucky.
- Evolve Applin. Open your Pokémon list, select Applin, and tap Evolve on its summary once you have the required Candy and matching apples.
Where apples come from—and what is known now
The April 2025 Sweet Discoveries announcement said apples could be found in the wild and tapped for an item or Pokémon encounter. It also said apples appeared more often at Mossy Lure Modules during that event. The event ran April 24–29, 2025, local time, so its boosted appearance rate is not a current guarantee.

A later Harvest Festival announcement, for October 10–16, 2025, described apples appearing at PokéStops with an active Mossy Lure. Tapping could yield a Sweet, Tart, or Syrupy Apple, or a Pokémon encounter including Applin. Those event dates have also passed; the announcement does not confirm present-day spawn rates or live research tasks. Check the game’s current map and event/news listings for what is available now.

Why you may not see the Evolve option
- Not enough Candy: Applin needs 200 Applin Candy for either branch.
- Missing or mismatched apples: Flapple requires Tart Apples; Appletun requires Sweet Apples.
- Availability has changed: Past event boosts describe those event periods only, not ongoing spawns.
Pokémon GO’s Help Center notes that some Pokémon evolutions can require extra items, tasks, a Lure, or Buddy walking. For Applin, use the specific Candy and apple requirements shown in the official announcement and in the game’s evolution interface.
