To stop Gemini from browsing for you in Chrome on Android, open Chrome → More → Settings → Gemini in Chrome and switch off Let Gemini browse for you. You can also revoke individual website sign-in permissions in that settings area. These steps disable specific Gemini features; they do not uninstall Gemini or automatically delete Gemini activity.
Turn off Gemini auto-browse in Chrome
- Open Chrome on your Android device and tap More (the three-dot menu).
- Tap Settings, then Gemini in Chrome.
- Switch off Let Gemini browse for you.
This setting controls the auto-browse feature. Google describes that feature as experimental and says it may share personal information with websites while completing tasks. Google’s auto-browse help explains the feature and its controls.
Revoke Gemini’s permission to sign in to specific sites
If you want to remove a website permission rather than change auto-browse, return to Chrome → More → Settings → Gemini in Chrome, then open Sites Gemini can sign you in to. Review the listed sites and tap Delete beside any permission you want to revoke. This removes that site’s sign-in permission; it is a separate control from switching off auto-browse. Google’s Chrome instructions cover both settings.
Choose the privacy control that matches your concern
| Concern | Control | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini browsing for you | Chrome → More → Settings → Gemini in Chrome → switch off Let Gemini browse for you | Turns off the auto-browse feature. |
| A particular site has sign-in access | Chrome → More → Settings → Gemini in Chrome → Sites Gemini can sign you in to → Delete beside the site | Revokes that site’s individual sign-in permission. |
| You do not want the current page shared in a Gemini chat | Tap Stop sharing in the chat | Stops sharing the current page with that chat. Google says the current page is shared by default when using Gemini in Chrome. Google’s Chrome help describes this behavior. |
| You want to manage saved Gemini activity | Gemini app → profile menu → Gemini Apps Activity | Lets you turn activity off or turn it off and delete activity; this is separate from Chrome’s auto-browse setting. Google’s Android activity instructions explain the options. |
Manage Gemini Apps Activity separately
- Open the Gemini app and tap your profile menu.
- Tap Gemini Apps Activity.
- Choose Turn off to stop saving activity going forward, or Turn off and delete activity to also delete activity covered by the deletion control.
Turning off activity is not the same as immediately erasing every conversation. Google says conversations may be saved with your account for up to 72 hours when Keep Activity is off, to provide the service and process feedback. Work or school account activity settings may be managed by an administrator. See Google’s Gemini Apps activity guidance for Android.

What Gemini in Chrome can process
Google says Gemini in Chrome processes the content and URL of the current tab, along with content and URLs from other tabs you share. When Keep Activity is on, information from websites visited using the feature is stored in Gemini Apps Activity. Google also says page content may be logged temporarily to your Google Account without appearing in Gemini Apps Activity. You can review Gemini in Chrome chats in Gemini Apps Activity and sites visited by Gemini in Chrome in Chrome history. Details are in Google’s Chrome documentation and Gemini Apps activity help.

Google says Gemini in Chrome is rolling out gradually, so the setting may not be available to every account or device. Its listed eligibility includes being at least 18, being in a supported region, using Android 12 or later with at least 4 GB of RAM, having the latest Chrome version, being signed in to Chrome, and having English set as the device language. Work or school accounts require administrator enablement. Update Chrome and check those requirements; if the option remains absent, it may not yet be available for your account.
