Gears of War: E-Day sold an estimated 230,000 copies between its October 1, 2026 advance-access launch and October 6 full release, according to Alinea Analytics. The figure is an estimate, not an official sales announcement, and it excludes people who accessed the game through Game Pass.
How Alinea breaks down the estimated sales
Alinea Analytics’ October 9, 2026 report estimates that 168,000 copies were sold on Steam and 62,000 on Xbox console and PC during the period. The report groups Xbox console and PC together, so it does not give a separate estimate for either platform.

The 230,000 total refers to estimated copies sold. It is not a count of everyone who played the game or a count of all people who paid for access.
Game Pass access and Premium upgrades are separate figures
Alinea also estimates that 1.7 million people accessed the game through Game Pass, rather than buying a copy. Separately, it estimates that 722,000 of those subscribers paid for a Premium early-access upgrade. Neither figure should be added to the 230,000 estimated copies sold: subscription access and an upgrade are different metrics from a game sale.

Estimated revenue does not equal copies sold
Alinea estimates total revenue at $37 million: approximately $26 million on Xbox and $11 million on Steam. These are reported revenue estimates, not additional sales counts. The report’s distinction matters because its copy estimate alone does not capture all the paid activity it describes, including Premium upgrades.
How certain is the 230,000 estimate?
The figures come from Rhys Elliott’s Alinea Insight article, published October 9, 2026. Alinea presents them as estimates, but the article does not provide a reproducible methodology or underlying sales data that would let readers independently verify the Xbox or total-sales figures. No separate confirmation from Microsoft, Xbox, or Steam is identified.

For comparisons with later reports, match the reporting window, platform coverage, and metric. A paid-copy estimate is not directly comparable to a player count that includes subscription access, and an Xbox figure combining console and PC should not be treated as a console-only number.
