Two October 2026 reviews offer a useful, limited guide. PC Gamer’s headline praises the shooting but calls the campaign sluggish. TechRadar likewise speaks positively about the old-school action while saying the campaign can feel drawn out between set pieces. What is E-Day about?
Xbox presents Gears of War: E-Day as an origin story set fourteen years before the original Gears of War. It follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde erupts onto the surface of Sera. The setup shifts the series’ familiar heroes to the beginning of the catastrophe rather than continuing their later story.
Xbox Wire’s campaign preview describes an ambush in Kalona, a city created for the game. That gives the invasion a new setting while keeping the conflict’s scale grounded in a specific place and immediate danger. The premise also puts Marcus and Dom’s partnership near the center of the story, though the available material does not establish how the campaign develops their relationship.

When did Gears of War: E-Day come out?
