Gears of War: E-Day ranked second among the 2026 Xbox Game Pass game debuts in TrueAchievements’ October 12 report. It attracted 8.6% more Xbox players at launch than Halo: Campaign Evolved, but reached 67.3% of Forza Horizon 6’s debut player count. These are player-engagement comparisons, not sales totals.

Where E-Day placed in the Xbox debut ranking

TrueAchievements’ October 12, 2026 report ranks Gears of War: E-Day second among the 2026 Xbox Game Pass debuts it covered. Forza Horizon 6 placed first, and Halo: Campaign Evolved placed third. The comparison is about those games’ debuts in 2026; it does not mean E-Day outranked every Halo game or every game in Xbox’s library.

Game Position among covered 2026 Game Pass debuts Launch-player comparison
Forza Horizon 6 #1 E-Day recorded 67.3% of Forza’s debut player count.
Gears of War: E-Day #2 8.6% more launch players than Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Halo: Campaign Evolved #3 E-Day’s launch player count was 8.6% higher.

The figures and ranking come from TrueAchievements’ October 12 report. Its chart uses gameplay data from Game Trends, which the report says draws on more than 3.1 million active Xbox accounts. TrueAchievements does not publish the exact player totals behind the reported percentages, so the comparison establishes relative scale, not how many people played each game.

What the percentages measure—and what they do not

The 8.6% and 67.3% figures compare Xbox players during the games’ launch periods, as presented in TrueAchievements’ report. They are not sales figures, all-platform player counts, or a count of Game Pass subscriptions. The report does not provide raw totals for the three debuts.

  • FOUR GENERATIONS OF GAMES — Play thousands of games from XBOX Series X|S, XBOX One, XBOX 360, and Original XBOX, with many titles enhanced for better visuals and performance on XBOX Series X.

That distinction matters because E-Day launched on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, and was available day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. A player accessing a title through a subscription is not necessarily a customer who otherwise would have bought it. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, quoted by GamesRadar, put it this way: “Not every person who plays a game via a sub service would buy that game were it not included in that service,”.

Why other E-Day numbers should be treated as estimates

GamesRadar reported separate estimates from Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliott: approximately 62,000 Xbox purchases, 168,000 Steam purchases, 1.7 million Game Pass players, and more than 722,000 premium upgrades. GamesRadar said Microsoft had not confirmed the estimates. They should not be presented as official sales or player totals, and they are not the raw figures underlying TrueAchievements’ launch comparison.

A separate weekly chart gives a different snapshot

TrueAchievements also placed E-Day first in its Top 40 Xbox chart for the week ending October 12, with Forza Horizon 6 sixth and Halo: Campaign Evolved thirty-third. That is a weekly popularity ranking, not the launch-debut comparison. The different placements reflect different chart views and time frames, not a contradiction.

What E-Day is and where it launched

Gears of War: E-Day is an origin story set fourteen years before the original Gears of War. Its campaign follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in Kalona during Emergence Day, across three days. The Coalition said it centered the global catastrophe on one city to make its human impact more immediate.

The game launched October 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, with day-one access through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Premium Edition early access began October 1. These dates describe the 2026 launch, not a current release schedule. Xbox’s official feature describes a four-character campaign playable from the start, four-player online co-op, and two-player split-screen on console. Its June feature described Horde Siege as a new 12-player PvE mode; the current Xbox product listing also advertises campaign, Horde Siege PvE, and Versus PvP.
