There is no evidence-backed universal winner between Gboard and Microsoft SwiftKey. Choose based on the languages you type, how you use voice input, whether you want alternate keyboard layouts and toolbar tools, and which privacy settings suit you. Official feature pages describe what each keyboard offers; they do not establish that either is faster or more accurate.
Which Android keyboard should you try?
Try Gboard first if you already use Google’s keyboard or value its documented glide typing, voice typing, and multilingual suggestions. If you depend on an advanced voice feature, check that your device and language are supported before making it part of your routine.
Try SwiftKey if you want documented options such as keyboard resizing, one-handed, floating, or split layouts, or if its Flow gesture typing and toolbar tools match how you work. These are feature-based starting points, not performance rankings.

Check language and voice support before switching
Typing in more than one language
SwiftKey says it supports up to five active languages, with automatic detection available for selected combinations that share an alphabet and layout. Google describes suggestions and autocorrection across enabled languages. Neither description proves which keyboard will recognize your particular mix of languages more accurately, so test the languages and layouts you actually use.

Using voice typing
Google lists English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish for its advanced voice-typing features, and identifies Pixel 9 devices except Pixel 9a, plus later models, for voice-command writing tools. Requirements can change, so consult Google’s current Gboard Help page and confirm support on your device before relying on a specific feature.
SwiftKey’s support page says multimodal voice typing is enabled by default and lets you type while dictating. You can switch to Google’s Android voice-input method; SwiftKey also documents voice-data-sharing controls in its settings. See SwiftKey’s voice-typing instructions for the current options.

Review privacy settings before enabling sync or personalization
Keyboard privacy depends on the features and settings you choose, not just the app name. Google says that when the relevant personalization setting is on, transcripts of what you say and type are saved on the device, with deletion controls available. Google Gboard Help

How to make a practical choice
- List the languages and keyboard layouts you use most. Check whether SwiftKey’s language detection or Gboard’s enabled-language suggestions suit that combination.
- Decide whether voice typing is essential. Confirm the feature, language, and device requirements for the exact voice tools you want.
- Consider how you hold and use your phone. SwiftKey documents one-handed, floating, and split modes; check Gboard’s current settings for the layout you want.
- Try the keyboard with your ordinary messages and longer text. Compare your own corrections, comfort, and voice workflow rather than relying on an unsupported claim that one app is objectively faster or more accurate.
- Review personalization, cloud backup, and data-sharing controls before enabling them.
What the feature counts do—and do not—tell you
Microsoft advertises support for “700+ supported languages” on its product page and says SwiftKey can have up to five languages active at once. These are vendor-reported capability figures, not independent measurements of typing speed or accuracy; check Microsoft’s current supported-language information for your needs. Microsoft SwiftKey
