Yes. The Garmin Tacx NEO 2T works with Zwift as a controllable smart trainer. It is a direct-drive design: remove the bike’s rear wheel and mount the frame on the trainer. Before setting up, identify whether you have the standard NEO 2T, which needs a separately purchased cassette, or the distinct NEO 2T with Zwift Cog and Click, which is designed for virtual shifting in Zwift.
Choose the right NEO 2T configuration
Garmin lists a standard Tacx NEO 2T Smart Trainer and a separate NEO 2T with Zwift Cog and Click. The difference affects what you install and how you shift. Garmin’s product listings describe trainer hardware and compatibility; they do not establish that a Zwift subscription is included.
| Configuration | Rear-wheel setup | Shifting and compatibility |
|---|---|---|
| Standard NEO 2T | Remove the rear wheel and fit a cassette matched to the bike. Garmin says a cassette is not included. The included Shimano/SRAM cassette body supports 8–11-speed Shimano or SRAM cassettes. | Use the bike’s conventional mechanical drivetrain and shifting. Confirm drivetrain and cassette-body compatibility before buying a cassette. |
| NEO 2T with Zwift Cog and Click | The preinstalled Cog replaces a conventional cassette. | Garmin says the Cog supports almost any 8–13-speed drivetrain for use with Zwift and ROUVY. Click attaches to the handlebar for virtual shifting and other Zwift controls. |

For the standard NEO 2T
- Check the drivetrain. Identify the cassette type and number of speeds on the bike. The standard trainer’s included Shimano/SRAM body supports 8–11-speed Shimano or SRAM cassettes; other drivetrain standards may require a different cassette body.
- Get a matching cassette. Garmin says a cassette is not included and recommends a new cassette, preferably paired with a new chain, to reduce noise and support shifting. Do not choose a cassette speed until you have confirmed the bike’s drivetrain.
- Fit the cassette and axle hardware. The trainer ships with 130 mm quick-release end caps installed. Garmin documents support for quick-release and most 12 mm thru-axles with the appropriate end caps. Follow the setup guide’s adapter instructions for your exact axle rather than assuming the installed parts are correct.
- Mount the bike. Remove the rear wheel, secure the frame to the trainer using the correct axle arrangement, and check that the bike is firmly seated before riding.
For the Zwift Cog and Click version
The Cog is preinstalled in place of a conventional cassette, so do not follow the standard cassette-installation instructions unless you are changing configurations. Attach Click to the handlebar as directed for its controls. Virtual shifting changes the trainer’s resistance; it does not move the chain across physical cassette sprockets as mechanical shifting does.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Confirm frame and axle clearance
Garmin specifies a minimum chainstay width of 62 mm, measured 25 mm forward of the dropouts. The NEO 2T does not support axles larger than 12 × 148 mm or Super Boost axles. If the bike’s axle or frame dimensions are uncertain, consult Garmin’s NEO 2T setup guide before purchase or installation.
Pair the NEO 2T with Zwift
Garmin says its smart trainers can be controlled by training apps and lists Zwift as a compatible app for NEO-series features. Pair the trainer in Zwift as the controllable trainer so the app can adjust resistance; the exact pairing prompts can vary by device and app version. The trainer supports ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth, according to Garmin’s feature documentation.

With the Cog and Click configuration, use Zwift’s virtual-shifting controls rather than expecting the bike’s chain to move between cassette sprockets. The Cog and Click bundle is distinct from the standard trainer, and the hardware listing alone does not establish whether software access is bundled.
What the NEO 2T’s documented features mean
Garmin lists power, speed, and cadence accuracy of under 1% for the NEO 2T, along with no calibration requirement. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Garmin also documents a virtual flywheel, road feel, descent simulation, and the ability to operate unplugged.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- External power: Garmin says road feel and descent simulation require external power. Unplugged operation still allows trainer control, but those two features are unavailable.
- Speed displays: Zwift’s virtual speed and speed recorded by a Garmin watch or Edge can differ. A training app calculates virtual speed, while a cycling computer may calculate speed from wheel rotations; ERG mode and virtual shifting make the distinction especially relevant.
Feature details are documented by Garmin’s Tacx Smart Trainer Features page and the NEO 2T support page.
