Choose the Garmin HRM 200 if you use a compatible Garmin watch or Edge computer and want live heart-rate and HRV data in that setup. Choose the Polar H10 if you need two Bluetooth connections, legacy 5 kHz GymLink support, or a workout recording that can be made without carrying a watch or phone. Both transmit over Bluetooth and ANT+; the available evidence does not establish a controlled accuracy winner between these two specific models.
At a glance: Garmin HRM 200 vs Polar H10
| Feature | Garmin HRM 200 | Polar H10 |
|---|---|---|
| Live connections | Bluetooth Low Energy and ANT+; Garmin lists up to three simultaneous BLE connections and unlimited ANT+ connections in open mode. | Bluetooth and ANT+; Polar lists dual Bluetooth, and its technical manual also specifies GymLink 5 kHz for heart rate. |
| HRV transmission | Garmin says the strap sends real-time heart-rate and HRV data to compatible devices. | Polar describes an electrical ECG heart-rate sensor; the specifications cited here do not establish equivalent HRV broadcast support. |
| Recording without a phone or watch | No onboard workout storage is identified in the cited product information. | Stores one session of up to 30 hours. Start the workout with Polar Beat and sync it later. |
| Battery | User-replaceable CR2032; Garmin estimates up to one year at one hour of use per day. | User-replaceable CR2025; Polar specifies up to 400 hours of use. Polar warns not to substitute a CR2032. |
| Water rating | 3 ATM; Garmin’s manual describes this as pressure equivalent to a depth of 30 m. | WR30. |
| Typical fit | Garmin watches, Edge computers, compatible fitness equipment, Tacx Training, and other supported apps. | Polar Beat and Flow, plus compatible third-party devices and apps using supported protocols. |
| Price | Varies by market and retailer; no fixed price established here. | Varies by market and retailer; no fixed price established here. |
These are manufacturer-listed features, not the results of a controlled test. For compatibility, check that the specific watch, cycling computer, gym equipment, or app accepts the strap’s broadcast protocol.
Which is better for Garmin?
The HRM 200 is the more straightforward pick if you already record training on a compatible Garmin watch or Edge computer. Garmin says it transmits live heart-rate and HRV data to compatible Garmin devices and other supported equipment or apps. The product listing also specifies up to three concurrent Bluetooth Low Energy connections, alongside ANT+ support.
That feature fit does not mean every Garmin device supports every strap function. Confirm compatibility for your exact receiving device and the metric you want to see, especially if HRV is important to your setup. Garmin’s manual, version 3 (April 2026), lists a replaceable CR2032 3 V battery and estimates up to one year of life at one hour per day. See Garmin HRM 200 product details and Garmin HRM 200 manual.
#1 Best Overall
- The HRM 200 heart rate monitor transmits accurate real-time heart rate and heart rate variability data to compatible Garmin smartwatches and cycling computers, fitness equipment, and apps
- Comfortable strap is available in two sizes (XS–S and M–XL) for the most ideal fit for your body type
- Up to 1 year of battery life with a user-replaceable battery
- Durable and built to last with a 3 ATM water rating
- Machine washable for easy cleaning
What does the Polar H10 do that the HRM 200 does not?
Record one workout without carrying a phone or watch
The H10 can store one workout session of up to 30 hours. Polar’s workflow is to start the recording through Polar Beat, then sync the stored session later. This is useful when you want to train without carrying a recording device, but it is one-session storage—not an ongoing activity archive. Garmin’s cited HRM 200 information does not identify onboard workout storage.
Connect to two Bluetooth devices or GymLink equipment
Polar lists dual Bluetooth connections and ANT+ support. Its technical manual also lists GymLink 5 kHz heart-rate transmission, which can matter with compatible older gym equipment. GymLink is specified for heart rate only; confirm that the equipment you plan to use accepts it. Garmin lists up to three BLE connections and unlimited ANT+ connections in open mode, but the HRM 200 information cited here does not list GymLink.
Rank #2
- The HRM 200 heart rate monitor transmits accurate real-time heart rate and heart rate variability data to compatible Garmin smartwatches and cycling computers, fitness equipment, and apps
- Comfortable strap is available in two sizes (XS–S and M–XL) for the most ideal fit for your body type
- Up to 1 year of battery life with a user-replaceable battery
- Durable and built to last with a 3 ATM water rating
- Machine washable for easy cleaning
Polar specifies a user-replaceable CR2025 battery and up to 400 hours of use. The CR2025 is not rechargeable, and Polar warns that a CR2032 must not be used in the H10. See Polar H10 product details and Polar H10 technical specifications.

Does either strap have better accuracy?
The available information does not establish that either the HRM 200 or the H10 is more accurate in a controlled, direct comparison. Polar describes the H10 as an electrical ECG sensor and promotes it for high-intensity training, but that manufacturer description is not proof of a model-versus-model accuracy advantage. Treat claims about absolute or relative accuracy cautiously unless they cite a controlled test of these exact straps under comparable conditions.
Rank #3
- Sends accurate real-time heart rate and HRV data to compatible Garmin smartwatches and cycling computers, fitness equipment, and apps
- Comfortable machine-washable strap is available in two sizes (XS–S and M–XL) for the most ideal fit for your body type
- Understand how much you slow down when your foot hits the ground with step speed loss, and improve your running form with additional running dynamics, including stride length, vertical oscillation and ground contact time balance (requires compatible smartwatch)
- During activities where you can’t wear a watch, such as team sports, HRM 600 will record the workout and sync data, including heart rate, calories, speed, distance and more, directly to the Garmin Connect smartphone app
- Tracks daily metrics, including estimated steps, heart rate, calories burned and more, and syncs that data directly to the Garmin Connect smartphone app
Neither should be treated as a medical diagnostic device. These are training heart-rate monitors; choose based on supported connections, storage needs, and compatibility rather than an unproven accuracy ranking.

Battery estimates use different measures
Garmin’s estimate is up to one year at one hour of use per day, from its April 2026 manual. Polar specifies up to 400 hours of use. Because those claims use different measures and do not specify identical usage assumptions, they do not establish which battery lasts longer for a particular training schedule. Both cells are replaceable, but the sizes differ: CR2032 for HRM 200 and CR2025 for H10.
Rank #4

Water ratings are not a blanket activity guarantee
Garmin lists 3 ATM and describes it as pressure equivalent to a depth of 30 m; Polar labels the H10 WR30. These are the manufacturers’ stated ratings, not a guarantee that either strap is suitable for every aquatic activity or diving. Check the relevant device guidance for the activity you plan.
