Another Crab’s Treasure is the best-supported starting point if you want Soulslike combat but need the game to give you adjustable help. Its Steam description presents it as approachable for newcomers while still offering a challenge to experienced players, and it includes customizable assist options. It is not guaranteed to feel easy, but it lets you change more of the experience than Elden Ring’s standard options do.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the better alternative if your priority is a conventional difficulty selector and a more directed action-adventure. The trade-off is substantial: the available evidence does not establish that it reproduces Elden Ring’s open-ended exploration or build experimentation. The right choice depends on which part of Elden Ring you want to keep and which source of friction you want to reduce.

What “gentler” should mean here

“Easier than Elden Ring” is not one precise category. A player may want less punishing timing, a way to reduce incoming damage, clearer progression, more forgiving checkpoints, or simply the freedom to leave a difficult encounter and make progress elsewhere. Those are different needs, and two games can feel very different even when both are described as easier.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Do you want a visible difficulty setting? This is the most familiar form of adjustment, but it does not automatically make every fight or exploration problem comfortable.
  • Would optional assistance be enough? Customizable assists can let you keep the core combat while reducing a particular obstacle.
  • Is the problem reaction speed? Look for a game that lets you tune combat demands rather than assuming a lower overall setting will solve every timing issue.
  • Do you need to escape a roadblock? A structure that points you toward other objectives can be more forgiving than one that makes a single boss feel like the only way forward.
  • Do you mainly want Elden Ring’s atmosphere and combat ideas? That points toward a Soulslike. If you want a clearer, more directed adventure, an adjacent action game may be a better fit.

The useful comparison is therefore not a universal easiest-to-hardest ranking. It is a question of which pressure each game allows you to adjust.

Why Elden Ring can feel hard even without a difficulty slider

Bandai Namco Europe states that Elden Ring has no conventional easy-mode control: “There are no settings that can adjust this difficulty, no button you can press to activate ‘easy mode’ in the options.” That means a player looking for a familiar menu with Easy, Normal and Hard should not expect to find one.

The absence of a selector does not mean the game offers only one way to approach a problem. The same official explanation notes that “having a good friend at your side may make a difficult fight easier to handle, emotionally.” In other words, assistance can come from how you approach an encounter rather than from an options-menu setting. Do not confuse that approach with a built-in easy mode: it changes the circumstances of a fight, not the game’s underlying difficulty setting.

This distinction matters when choosing your next game. If you want to preserve the feeling of learning a Soulslike fight while having explicit control over assistance, start with Another Crab’s Treasure. If you want a clearly labeled difficulty choice and are willing to accept a more guided structure, look at Jedi: Survivor.

Another Crab’s Treasure: the closest gentler entry point in this list

Why it is the first recommendation

The game’s Steam listing describes it as an approachable Soulslike for newcomers while still challenging experienced players. That is unusually direct positioning for someone who likes the idea of Elden Ring but does not identify as a hardcore player. More importantly, the cited guide reports customizable assist options. You can therefore look for the specific help you need instead of treating “easy” as an all-or-nothing label.

Its strongest match is the combination of Soulslike combat and adjustable support. If you want boss-focused learning, defensive decision-making and the general rhythm associated with the genre, this is the recommendation that preserves that identity most clearly in the available evidence.

What it can retain from Elden Ring

  • Genre feel: It is explicitly presented as a Soulslike, so it is the natural choice when combat and boss encounters matter more than a conventional action-adventure campaign.
  • A challenge that can remain meaningful: The newcomer-oriented description does not promise a trivial experience; it also says experienced players can still find it challenging.
  • Adjustable support: Customizable assists give you a way to target a particular obstacle rather than abandoning the genre because one part of it is too demanding.

What not to assume

“Approachable” is not the same as “easy for everyone.” A game can offer assists and still require you to learn its combat, read attacks and make decisions under pressure. The available material also does not establish that it matches Elden Ring’s exact world size, build freedom, navigation or progression structure. Choose it for the Soulslike foundation and the assist angle, not because it is a one-for-one substitute.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: choose it for settings and a directed adventure

Where it helps

The Jedi formula offers difficulty settings, making it the clearer choice for readers who specifically want a conventional way to adjust challenge. A setting can be easier to understand than a collection of optional assists: select the level that fits your confidence, then change it if the game is not matching your expectations.

It is also an adjacent action-adventure rather than a direct Soulslike recommendation. That can be a benefit if Elden Ring’s open-ended structure leaves you unsure where to go next. A more directed campaign can reduce the cognitive load of deciding which region, encounter or objective to pursue.

The structural trade-off

The evidence available for this recommendation does not establish that Jedi: Survivor reproduces Elden Ring’s build freedom or exploration. Its similarity is therefore partial: it can provide demanding third-person action, boss encounters and adjustable difficulty, but you should not buy it expecting the same kind of open-ended character experimentation or world progression.

Pick Jedi: Survivor when your priority is “let me choose the challenge level and follow a clearer adventure.” Pick Another Crab’s Treasure when your priority is “let me stay close to the Soulslike formula and tune assistance.”

Side-by-side comparison

Question Elden Ring Another Crab’s Treasure Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Explicit difficulty selector No easy-mode setting in the options, according to Bandai Namco Europe Customizable assist options are reported; a conventional selector is not established here Difficulty settings are part of the Jedi formula
Closest genre match Open-ended action RPG with Soulslike challenge Soulslike, described as approachable for newcomers Directed action-adventure; similarity to Elden Ring is partial
Best reason to choose it Maximum freedom to approach challenges on its own terms Keep Soulslike combat while tuning assistance Choose a labeled challenge level and follow a more guided adventure
What is not established by the available evidence — Exact match for Elden Ring’s world, builds and progression Elden Ring-level build freedom or open-ended exploration
Risk for a newcomer No menu-based easy mode Assists do not guarantee that every encounter will feel easy May not satisfy someone seeking a true Elden Ring-style open world

Choose by the problem you are trying to solve

You want Soulslike combat, but the punishment is the problem

Start with Another Crab’s Treasure. Its assist options address this need most directly while keeping the game’s stated Soulslike identity. Approach the options as tools: use the assistance that targets your sticking point, then reduce it later only if you want a tougher run.

You want Easy, Normal or Hard in a menu

Choose Jedi: Survivor. Its difficulty settings fit the expectation of selecting a level before or during the adventure. This is the cleanest answer for a player who does not want to infer difficulty from equipment, exploration or optional support.

You are overwhelmed by deciding where to go

Jedi: Survivor is the safer structural choice because it is presented as a more directed action-adventure. You are trading away some of the open-ended quality associated with Elden Ring, but that trade can make the overall experience easier to follow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You mainly want a gentler first step into the genre

Try Another Crab’s Treasure first. The newcomer-oriented description and customizable assists are specifically aligned with learning the genre without requiring you to accept a single fixed difficulty curve. Keep your expectations realistic: “gentler introduction” means more control over friction, not automatic success.

You want Elden Ring’s exact freedom

Neither recommendation is established as a complete replacement for Elden Ring’s open-ended world and build experimentation. Another Crab’s Treasure is the closer combat and genre match; Jedi: Survivor is the clearer difficulty-and-guidance match. Decide which of those two qualities matters more before you buy.

A practical way to evaluate either game

  1. Name the obstacle. Write down whether you struggle with reaction timing, repeated deaths, unclear direction, or the lack of a difficulty menu.
  2. Match the obstacle to the feature. For customizable help, investigate Another Crab’s Treasure. For a conventional setting and a guided campaign, investigate Jedi: Survivor.
  3. Verify the exact edition. Feature descriptions, platforms and editions can change. Check the current official or store listing for the system and version you plan to purchase.
  4. Start with the least disruptive adjustment. If assists are available, use the one aimed at your specific barrier rather than changing everything at once. If a difficulty selector is available, begin at the level that lets you learn without turning every encounter into a test of endurance.
  5. Reassess after several encounters. A game may feel demanding for reasons unrelated to raw damage or enemy health. If the real problem is navigation or decision overload, lowering combat difficulty alone may not solve it.

Pitfalls to avoid

  • Assuming every Soulslike has the same learning curve. Genre labels describe a family of ideas, not an identical difficulty profile.
  • Equating assistance with a free pass. Optional help can reduce friction while leaving the core combat challenge intact.
  • Choosing only by the word “easy.” A game with a lower setting may still be a poor fit if you want open exploration, while a game with assists may be a poor fit if you want a traditional difficulty menu.
  • Expecting a structural clone. The available evidence supports a close Soulslike match for Another Crab’s Treasure and a directed action-adventure alternative in Jedi: Survivor; it does not establish either as an exact Elden Ring replacement.
  • Ignoring your preferred kind of progress. Some players enjoy experimenting until a difficult fight clicks. Others prefer a clear route and a selectable challenge level. Both preferences are valid, but they point to different recommendations.

Bottom line

Begin with Another Crab’s Treasure if you want to learn Soulslike combat with customizable assistance and a newcomer-oriented presentation. Choose Star Wars Jedi: Survivor if adjustable difficulty and a more directed action-adventure matter more than reproducing Elden Ring’s open-ended structure. Elden Ring itself has no conventional easy-mode setting, so the best gentler introduction is the game whose adjustable feature addresses your particular sticking point.
