If you want Candy Crush-style match-3 puzzles with no recurring events, there is no title in the currently documented group that can be confirmed as event-free. Homescapes, Gardenscapes and Balloon Paradise all have event language in their store descriptions, while the official Bejeweled franchise page does not provide enough information about a current, event-free installment. Treat these games as leads to check—not as verified answers—and inspect the listing and the game itself for your platform and region.
Define “without events” before you choose a game
“No events” can describe two different requirements. A strict requirement means the game has no time-limited activities, seasonal campaigns, passes, tournaments or rotating challenges at all. A looser requirement means those features may exist but are optional, can be ignored, and do not interrupt ordinary level progression. Those are materially different experiences, so decide which one you need before comparing games.
Storefront labels such as offline and single-player answer where or with whom you can play; they do not answer whether the developer adds recurring content. A game can load levels without an internet connection and still display seasonal events whenever it reconnects. Conversely, an event may be visible but completely optional. Only a current listing and an in-game check can establish which situation applies.
What the available listings establish
| Game | Core description | Event evidence | Offline or platform information | Purchase model and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Homescapes | Match-3 levels combined with mansion renovation, decoration and story progression. | The US Apple App Store listing displays special events named Treasure Hunt, Home Pass, and Bloom and Buzz. It is therefore not a verified no-events choice. | The cited listing is for the US Apple App Store; no event-free mode is established. | Free with in-app purchases, including randomized items, according to that listing. |
| Gardenscapes | Match-3 combinations support garden restoration, decoration and a story. | The Apple App Store listing displays a special event. An offline or single-player tag does not remove that evidence. | Google Play tags it single-player and offline. The App Store listing showed version 9.0.6 dated 2025-11-09; a Google Play result showed an update date of 2026-09-30. Store details can vary by region and change over time. | In-app purchases are noted in the store descriptions; no event-free setting is documented. |
| Bejeweled | EA’s official franchise page identifies Bejeweled as a match-3 franchise. | The consulted franchise page does not establish the event design of a specific current installment or confirm an event-free mode. | Current availability, platform and edition are not established by that page. | Do not infer the terms of a particular edition from the franchise description. |
| Balloon Paradise | Match-3 play advertised for offline use. | The US Apple App Store listing also mentions seasonal events, so it fails a strict no-events filter on the evidence available. | Offline play is advertised in the cited US listing; offline does not mean event-free. | The listing’s event language should be checked again because store copy may change. |
These descriptions are enough to separate “match-3-like” from “confirmed event-free,” but not enough to certify a permanent no-event mode for any candidate. The quoted wording illustrates the basis for the genre matches: the Homescapes listing says, “Solve match-3 puzzles to restore a wonderful mansion on a verdant street,” while the Gardenscapes listing says, “Make match-3 combinations and bring coziness and beauty to every corner of your garden.” EA describes Bejeweled as “the sparkling match-3 game franchise that started it all.” None of those statements promises an absence of live or seasonal activities.

Why a match-3 match is not an event-free guarantee
Match-3 is a puzzle format, not a business model. Two games can use the same swap-and-match structure while differing radically in how progression is delivered. One may present a fixed sequence of levels; another may add rotating maps, collectible campaigns, daily tasks, passes or competitive leaderboards. The board mechanics tell you little about those systems.
Event language is also easy to miss. A store page may place it in a “What’s new” note, a feature list or screenshots rather than the short description. A game can add an event after installation, and an update can change the home screen without changing the title. For that reason, a one-time search result is not a durable guarantee. Record the platform, country storefront, version and date when you check.

How to verify a game before you commit time or money
- Set your exact target. Write down the device family (iPhone or iPad, Android phone or tablet, Windows or another platform), your store country and whether “optional events” are acceptable. A title available in one storefront may have different descriptions or release status elsewhere.
- Read the full current listing. Expand the description, “What’s New” notes and feature bullets. Search the page for terms such as event, seasonal, tournament, pass, challenge, league, daily and limited-time. Absence of a word is not proof, but explicit wording is a reason to investigate.
- Capture version and date. Note the version number and update date shown by your store. Gardenscapes demonstrates why this matters: the App Store and Google Play entries displayed different dates and details. Keep a screenshot or written note so you know which information you relied on.
- Inspect screenshots and videos. Look for calendars, countdown clocks, event tabs, seasonal art, passes, tickets or leaderboard panels. Marketing images can reveal a live-content surface that the short description omits.
- Install without making a purchase. On first launch, examine the home screen, map and menus before buying boosters or a subscription. Identify icons labelled Events, Seasons, Challenges, Pass, League or similar. Read any “limited time” panel rather than accepting a prompt automatically.
- Test the ordinary level path. Start a standard level and check whether an event offer blocks entry, changes the objective or supplies the only route to extra moves. If the event can be closed and ordinary levels remain available, the game may satisfy a tolerant “ignore events” requirement but not a strict one.
- Test connectivity deliberately. After the initial download, enable airplane mode and launch the game. Confirm which levels remain playable and whether the event panel disappears, remains cached or prevents access. Restore connectivity before updating or synchronizing progress. An offline result demonstrates local play only; it does not prove that future updates will omit events.
- Check settings and support text. Look for switches for notifications, promotional messages and event reminders. Turning off notifications prevents interruptions but does not remove event systems, so treat it as a convenience setting rather than certification.
- Recheck after major updates. Event systems are commonly introduced or redesigned in updates. Repeat the menu and offline checks after an update, especially if a previously quiet game adds a new home-screen tile.
How each documented candidate fits different priorities
Homescapes: story-led renovation with visible events
Homescapes is a clear fit if your priority is a narrative renovation loop wrapped around match-3 levels. The US Apple App Store description ties puzzle solving to restoring and decorating a mansion, and it identifies free installation with in-app purchases, including randomized items. Its same listing names several special events. That combination makes it unsuitable for a strict “no recurring events” filter, even if you personally ignore those activities.
If you are evaluating it under the looser standard, check whether event banners can be dismissed without consuming lives, boosters or paid currency. The available listing does not establish that behavior, so verify it in your own storefront and current build rather than assuming the event controls are harmless.
Gardenscapes: offline and single-player tags do not settle the question
Gardenscapes combines match-3 play with garden restoration, decoration and story progression. Google Play’s single-player and offline tags may appeal to someone seeking self-contained play, but the Apple App Store listing also displays a special event. Those facts can coexist: offline capability describes a mode of access, while event content describes how the developer structures activities.

- THE CLASSIC: Everyone knows the game of Candy Land. This classic edition features the original, charming artwork from the games' early days
- RACE TO HOME SWEET HOME: Kids encounter all kinds of delicious fun as they move their cute gingerbread pawn through Gum Drop Mountains, Lollypop Woods, the Molasses Swamp and more
- NO READING REQUIRED: Since it's for kids ages 3 and up, Candy Land is suitable for those who haven't learned how to read yet
- A FAMILY FAVORITE: Cherish your child's early years by making memories with Candy Land. It's called a Rite of Passage game because it has been enjoyed generation after generation
- SKILLS: All in the name of fun. Children will learn counting, turn taking, color recognition, and color matching
Version and date differences are especially important here. The App Store entry showed version 9.0.6 on 2025-11-09, whereas a Google Play result showed an update date of 2026-09-30. Such differences can reflect platform rollout timing, regional storefront data or later changes. Check the entry on the device you will actually use before treating any feature as current.
Balloon Paradise: an explicit example of the offline-versus-events distinction
Balloon Paradise advertises offline match-3 play, which addresses the need to play without a connection. Its US Apple App Store listing also mentions seasonal events. If your rule is “no events under any circumstances,” that wording rules it out on the available evidence. If your rule is “play the basic puzzles offline and ignore seasonal material,” test whether the normal level sequence remains accessible in airplane mode and whether event prompts can be closed.

Bejeweled: a franchise lead, not a verified current answer
EA’s official franchise page confirms that Bejeweled belongs to the match-3 genre, making it a sensible search term for people who want classic puzzle play. The page consulted does not identify which installment is currently available in your region, explain its event design or promise an event-free mode. Treat the franchise name as a starting point for title-specific checking. Before installing, identify the exact edition, platform listing, update date and any references to seasons, challenges or live content.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical decision rule
| Your requirement | What counts as acceptable evidence | Decision for the documented candidates |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly no recurring events | A current platform listing and in-game inspection show no event system, seasonal content or time-limited prompts. | No candidate here is confirmed. Homescapes, Gardenscapes and Balloon Paradise have event language; Bejeweled remains unverified. |
| Events may exist but must be ignorable | Ordinary levels remain available, event panels close permanently or easily, and no event purchase is required for normal progression. | Possible in principle, but the supplied listings do not establish the required controls. Test each title yourself. |
| Offline play is the main need | Your platform listing explicitly supports offline play, followed by an airplane-mode test. | Gardenscapes is tagged offline on Google Play and Balloon Paradise advertises offline play. Neither claim removes event content. |
| Story and decoration matter | The listing describes a renovation or restoration layer alongside puzzles. | Homescapes emphasizes mansion renovation; Gardenscapes emphasizes garden restoration. |
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Equating offline with event-free: Offline tags concern connectivity. Seasonal content can still exist when you reconnect or remain stored locally.
- Assuming single-player means no live service: A single-player game can receive timed challenges and promotional passes.
- Checking only the installation date: Event systems may be added later. Use the current version and repeat the check after major updates.
- Relying on another region’s listing: Store copy, release timing and feature availability can differ by country. Verify your own storefront.
- Confusing optional notifications with optional events: Muting alerts reduces interruptions but does not prove that event infrastructure is absent.
- Inferring a whole franchise from one edition: Bejeweled is a franchise, not a single documented product configuration. Confirm the exact installment.
Bottom line for a no-events search
The current documented evidence does not support naming a definitive Candy Crush alternative that is free of recurring events. Homescapes and Gardenscapes offer the requested match-3 structure with renovation and story layers but list special-event content. Balloon Paradise advertises offline play while mentioning seasonal events. Bejeweled is genre-relevant, yet its official franchise page leaves the event question unanswered. Use the verification procedure above and make the final decision from the live listing and in-game menus for your platform and region.
