Start with Untitled Goose Game. It is the closest match for Bad Magpie’s mischievous-bird fantasy. Choose Little Kitty, Big City if the part you loved was wandering a compact animal-led world, or Donut County if comic environmental puzzles mattered more than the protagonist. None is identical to Bad Magpie, so the right follow-up depends on which part of the demo stayed with you.
Quick answer: which game should you play first?
Bad Magpie combines four ideas that are not usually packaged together: a troublesome animal protagonist, a small world designed for free exploration, objects that react to meddling, and puzzles that can be solved in more than one way. The three recommendations below each share a different slice of that formula.
| Game | Best match for | What it shares with Bad Magpie | Important difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Untitled Goose Game | Bird mischief and comic troublemaking | A bird protagonist whose main activity is causing problems in an interactive setting | Its structure and puzzle design are not presented as identical to Bad Magpie’s non-linear world |
| Little Kitty, Big City | Animal-led exploration in a compact open world | A small playground, optional quests, animal characters, and room to make a mess | You play a cat in a city, with getting home and exploring as the premise |
| Donut County | Absurd environmental puzzles | Silly interactions with the world and puzzle solving driven by physical reactions | You control an ever-growing hole in a story-based physics puzzle game, not an animal in an open world |
If you want one unqualified starting point, pick Untitled Goose Game. Xbox Wire’s June 10, 2026 preview called it “the obvious comparison in concept” and described it as “a sort of simple adventure game about being a rude bird.” That is a comparison of the central fantasy, not a claim that the two games share every system.

What makes Bad Magpie distinctive?
The official Steam description presents Bad Magpie as a narrative adventure about a one-winged magpie fixated on shiny objects. Its story is designed to come through play rather than dialogue, written text, or cutscenes. That matters when choosing an alternative: a game can look similarly cute while offering a very different kind of storytelling.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The full game’s described world is dense, non-linear, and reactive. You can peck at objects, steal them, combine them, and otherwise interfere with the environment. The puzzles are described as having multiple solutions, and the central collection goal involves finding meteorite shards. Those details establish the most useful comparison axes:
- Animal fantasy: Is the appeal specifically being a mischievous creature?
- Exploration: Do you want to roam a compact world at your own pace rather than follow a strictly linear path?
- Environmental play: Are you looking for objects that can be manipulated, combined, or used in unexpected ways?
- Motivation: Do you prefer collecting and discovery, character-driven comedy, or puzzle systems that produce escalating absurdity?
The demo is described as a single-player slice of one of three areas. It introduces the magpie’s search for meteorite shards and is currently labeled “coming soon” on its Steam listing. Storefront labels can change, so check the live Bad Magpie Demo page immediately before relying on a release or availability statement.
1. Untitled Goose Game: the closest direct match
Why it fits
Untitled Goose Game is the clearest follow-up when the memorable part of Bad Magpie was the pleasure of being a small, unhelpful bird. Its official Steam listing puts you in control of a goose whose purpose is to cause mischief. That shared premise is stronger than a superficial similarity in art style: both games make the animal’s behavior itself the source of the comedy.

The appeal is not heroic progression. It is the chain reaction that starts when a creature with its own agenda enters a human space.

How it differs from Bad Magpie
Bad Magpie’s official description emphasizes a dense, non-linear, reactive world; object pecking, stealing, and combining; and a narrative built into exploration and collection. The available description of Untitled Goose Game establishes the goose-and-mischief premise and its play modes, but it does not justify treating the two games as having the same world structure or puzzle system. Think of this as the closest match for the role you play, not a one-for-one mechanical replacement.
Solo and shared play
The Steam listing supports solo play as well as shared and split-screen co-op. That makes it the most flexible recommendation here if you want to play alone after the demo or turn the same kind of mischief into a two-player activity. Bad Magpie’s demo is listed as single-player, so co-op is an additional option rather than a direct continuation of its format.
Who should skip it?
Skip this first choice if your favorite part of Bad Magpie was searching for meteorite shards, following a silent narrative, or experimenting with combinations across a non-linear map. The goose is the strongest fantasy match, but the available evidence does not establish that it reproduces those specific goals.
2. Little Kitty, Big City: the best exploration substitute
Why it fits
Little Kitty, Big City is the better choice when “like Bad Magpie” means a compact world that invites wandering. Double Dagger Studio describes a tiny open world where you can explore at your own pace, meet animal characters, complete quests, or simply cause a ruckus. That combination gives you freedom to decide whether a session is about progress or playful distraction.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.

The match is especially strong if you enjoyed Bad Magpie as a place to poke around rather than as a sequence of prescribed levels. The city setting supplies a different kind of playground, but the underlying rhythm—notice something interesting, investigate it, and decide whether to help, ignore, or disrupt—should appeal to the same audience.
What changes when the protagonist is a cat?
You play a cat, not a magpie, and the press-kit premise frames getting home and exploring the city as the central situation. There is no reason to expect the same fixation on shiny objects, meteorite-shard collection, or peck-and-combine interactions. Its similarity is about animal-led presence, compact-world exploration, optional activities, and the ability to create chaos when you are not following a quest.
Platforms stated by the developer
The developer’s press kit lists PC, Xbox, and Switch. The listing is useful for checking whether your platform is covered, but availability, editions, and storefront details can change; verify the current store page for your device before purchasing.

Pick Little Kitty, Big City if you want the most obvious continuation of the “small animal in a world worth wandering” feeling. It is less suitable if your priority is specifically playing a bird or creating trouble as the main objective rather than balancing exploration with quests and the cat’s journey home.

3. Donut County: the puzzle-comedy alternative
Why it fits
Donut County is the loosest recommendation, but it earns a place if the demo’s funniest moments came from manipulating the environment. Its official Steam listing describes a story-based physics puzzle game in which you play as an ever-growing hole. The central joke is also the central mechanic: the world changes because objects fall into, interact with, and enlarge the hole.
That makes it a good follow-up for readers who care less about the bird and more about comic cause and effect. You are still solving problems by understanding how the environment behaves, but the interaction model is deliberately abstract and physics-driven rather than based on an animal’s actions.
What it does not provide
This is not an animal-led open-world adventure. It does not match Bad Magpie’s magpie protagonist, its described search for meteorite shards, or its emphasis on pecking, stealing, and combining objects while roaming a dense world. The match is limited to environmental comedy and puzzle solving, so treat it as a change of genre emphasis rather than a direct substitute.

When it is the right recommendation
Choose it when you want a focused, joke-heavy puzzle experience after trying a game whose appeal came from surprising interactions. If you are specifically looking for another creature to control in a freely explored space, choose one of the first two recommendations instead.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.

Choose your next game by the part of Bad Magpie you miss
- You want to be a rude bird: Start with Untitled Goose Game. It is the direct premise match, and its Steam listing also supports shared or split-screen co-op.
- You want a compact world to wander: Choose Little Kitty, Big City. Its developer explicitly describes open-ended exploration, animal encounters, quests, and optional chaos.
- You want environmental puzzle comedy: Choose Donut County. Its ever-growing-hole mechanic turns physical interaction into the main source of jokes and solutions.
- You want Bad Magpie’s exact combination: None of these should be presented as identical. Bad Magpie’s described mix of a one-winged magpie, silent narrative, non-linear reactive world, object manipulation, multiple solutions, and meteorite-shard search is unusually specific.
A practical play order
For the closest emotional handoff
Play Untitled Goose Game first, then Little Kitty, Big City. The first preserves the mischievous-bird fantasy; the second broadens the experience into open-ended animal exploration. This order moves from the strongest premise match to the strongest world-structure match.
For players who care about puzzles above all
Play Donut County first, followed by Untitled Goose Game. The hole-based physics puzzles give you immediate environmental experimentation, while the goose restores the social comedy and animal troublemaking that Bad Magpie makes central.
For a group session
Start with Untitled Goose Game because the official Steam listing explicitly includes shared and split-screen co-op. The Bad Magpie demo is listed as single-player, so this is a way to change the social format rather than recreate the demo’s exact experience.

What to check before downloading or buying
- Bad Magpie Demo status: The Steam demo listing currently says “coming soon.” Recheck the live listing because storefront availability is volatile.
- Mode: Bad Magpie’s demo is listed as single-player. Untitled Goose Game is the only recommendation here whose cited listing explicitly establishes shared and split-screen co-op.
- Platform: The Little Kitty, Big City press kit lists PC, Xbox, and Switch. Confirm the current store page for the exact device and edition you use.
- Type of experience: Decide whether you want bird mischief, open-world animal exploration, or physics-puzzle comedy before choosing. The recommendations overlap in tone, not in every mechanic.
Bottom line
Untitled Goose Game is the best first game after the Bad Magpie demo because it most directly matches the fantasy of being a troublesome bird. Little Kitty, Big City is the stronger alternative for free-roaming animal exploration, while Donut County is the right detour for players who mainly want absurd environmental puzzles. Bad Magpie’s silent storytelling, meteorite-shard goal, non-linear reactive setting, and multi-solution object play remain distinct, so choose by the specific element you want to carry forward.
