Game Is Full of Bugs is an in-development action roguelite built around making and cycling a custom magazine. You collect pieces from defeated bugs, turn them into bullets and modules, and use the resulting loadout while fighting through a procedurally generated hive toward its queen.
The complete game is not released. As checked on October 13, 2026, the developer offers separate Windows and macOS demo builds, while Steam lists the full release date as “To be announced.” The gameplay details below describe the advertised design, not independently verified impressions of balance, difficulty, performance, or polish.
What is Game Is Full of Bugs?
Game Is Full of Bugs is an action indie game from Alchemy Sheep, published by Alchemy Sheep and Outersloth. Its premise puts you in the role of a programmer pulled into an alien bug invasion. Rather than treating ammunition as a fixed inventory, the game presents each run as an exercise in building a magazine and discovering how far that build can be pushed.

- With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
- Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
- A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
- The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
- The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.
Steam categorizes the title as Action and Indie and uses tags such as action roguelike, twin-stick shooter, roguelite, top-down, procedural generation and gun customization. Those labels describe how the store positions the game; they are not a substitute for a hands-on review.
How the advertised gameplay loop works
1. Fight through the hive
Each run is set in a randomly generated hive. Procedural generation means the layout and encounters are intended to vary between runs, although the available material does not establish the size of the hive, the exact room structure or how much the enemy roster changes. The stated destination is the hive’s queen, which gives every run a clear end goal even when the route and build differ.
2. Collect pieces from defeated bugs
Fallen bugs provide leftover pieces that function as crafting material. The developer and Steam descriptions do not publish a complete resource list or explain whether every enemy drops a distinct component. What is established is the relationship between combat and construction: the things you defeat are also the source of parts used to shape your magazine.

3. Craft bullets and modules
Collected pieces can be turned into unique bullets and modules. Bullets are the ammunition types you fire; modules are the advertised modification layer that changes or enhances a setup. The public descriptions do not specify every effect, crafting cost or slot limit, so you should expect discovery rather than a fully documented recipe system in advance.

- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
4. Cycle through the magazine while shooting
After you assemble a magazine, you loop through its contents as you shoot. This is the feature that distinguishes the concept from a conventional twin-stick shooter with a static weapon. The order and combination of crafted bullets and modules are meant to matter because every shot is part of the sequence you built.
5. Experiment with alternate setups
The advertised progression encourages trying different bullet types, combining modules and items, and unlocking suits and starting items. These unlocks suggest both run-to-run variety and longer-term experimentation, but the available pages do not state how many suits or items exist, what each one does, or whether unlocks persist permanently.
What a run is supposed to feel like
The intended structure is a build-and-test cycle rather than a single fixed campaign. You enter a generated hive, gather components through combat, make decisions about ammunition and modules, and see whether that combination can carry you to the queen. A later run can begin with a different suit or starting item and pursue another magazine design.

That structure creates several decision points:
- Immediate survival: choose crafting options that help you handle the next fights.
- Magazine identity: decide whether your bullets and modules work toward a focused effect or a deliberately mixed sequence.
- Run investment: balance improving the current magazine against preserving flexibility for later discoveries.
- Long-term variety: use unlocked suits and starting items to change how a future run begins.
These are design intentions inferred from the developer’s stated loop. No official source currently provides measured information about average run length, enemy health, damage values, drop rates, difficulty tiers or the probability of reaching the queen.

Top-down combat and controls
Steam lists the game as single-player and tags it as a top-down twin-stick shooter. That points to an overhead combat presentation with separate movement and aiming inputs, but the store tags do not document the exact keyboard, mouse or controller layout.
SteamDB’s demo configuration lists Windows and macOS support and full controller support for the demo. Treat that as third-party configuration metadata rather than a guarantee that every input device behaves identically. A controller is optional; the available information does not say that one is required.
Is Game Is Full of Bugs released?
No. On October 13, 2026, Steam still marks the full game as unavailable and shows its release date as “To be announced.” The developer’s itch.io page is marked “In development” and provides separate downloadable Windows and macOS builds identified as demos.
Access can change as development continues, so check both the current Steam listing and the developer’s page before assuming that a demo, build number or platform option is still offered. Steam’s official store page also reports no user reviews, which means there is not yet a public review record to use as evidence about pacing, balance, difficulty, stability or performance.

How to play the available demo
- Open the developer’s itch.io page. Look for the project marked as in development and confirm that the download section is still present.
- Select your operating system. The page lists separate PC and Mac downloads rather than one universal package.
- Download the build. Check that your machine meets the corresponding store requirements before launching it.
- Run the downloaded application using your operating system’s normal security prompts. If the system blocks an unfamiliar unsigned application, use the platform’s documented allow or privacy settings only if you trust the download source.
- Test your preferred input. Keyboard and mouse use is not fully documented in the public descriptions; controller support is specifically listed in SteamDB’s demo metadata.
The demo should be treated as a snapshot of an unfinished project. Features announced for development may not be present, and the contents can change without the full game becoming available.
Windows and macOS system requirements
The following specifications are the current requirements published on Steam. They are product specifications, not independent benchmark results or a promise that every listed machine will deliver the same frame rate or compatibility.

- A tech tree for additional progression.
- An equipable booster that upgrades an equipped bullet.
- A more polished tutorial.
The same update invited interested players to request a playtest Steam key through the developer’s Discord. Those are dated development notes. Unless a newer build confirms them, do not assume that the tech tree, bullet booster or polished tutorial is included in the currently downloadable demo.
The developer page published on October 8, 2026 still labels the project as in development. No price is established on the researched Steam or developer pages, and no firm launch date has been announced.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to evaluate the game without mistaking marketing for hands-on evidence
The public material is sufficient to explain the design, but not to answer experiential questions that normally require playing the game. Use the following distinction when deciding whether the demo is worth trying:
| Question | What is established | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| What makes the game different? | Its advertised focus is crafting and cycling a magazine of bullets and modules from bug remains. | Whether the combinations feel deep, overpowered, confusing or repetitive in practice. |
| How are runs structured? | Runs take place in a randomly generated hive and aim toward the queen. | Run duration, map size, checkpoint rules and difficulty curve. |
| How polished is it? | The project remains in development and Steam has no user reviews. | Performance, bug frequency, balance, tutorial quality and overall finish. |
| What progression exists? | Suits, starting items, bullet types, modules and items are advertised; a tech tree and bullet-upgrade booster were planned in a 2025 update. | The complete unlock tree, persistence rules and whether the planned features are in the current demo. |
This distinction matters because store copy can explain intended mechanics without proving how they play. There is currently no reliable basis for calling the game easy or difficult, fast or slow, polished or rough, or well-optimized on a particular computer.
Who may be interested in the demo?
The demo is most relevant to players who enjoy experimenting with build systems and do not mind an unfinished release. The strongest reason to try it is the unusual ammunition premise: instead of selecting from a fixed set of weapons, you are invited to construct a sequence of bullets and modifications, then test that sequence in a generated environment.
It may be a less suitable choice if you require a finished campaign, a confirmed launch date, published performance benchmarks or a large body of player reviews before downloading. Those details are not available yet.
Key takeaways before you download
- The core advertised loop is collect, craft, load and fire: bug remains become bullets and modules, which are cycled through as you shoot.
- Runs are advertised as roguelite expeditions through a procedurally generated hive, with the queen as the stated objective.
- Suits, starting items, bullet types, modules and item combinations are the main advertised sources of build variety.
- The full game is not released as of October 13, 2026; Steam lists the date as to be announced.
- Windows and macOS demo downloads are listed by the developer, and SteamDB records full controller support for the demo.
- Steam publishes minimum and recommended requirements for both operating systems, but those figures are not independent performance tests.
- A November 29, 2025 developer update mentioned a tech tree, a bullet-upgrade booster and a polished tutorial as planned additions; their presence in the current demo is unconfirmed.
Bottom line
Game Is Full of Bugs presents a clear hook: build a magazine from the remains of the bugs you defeat, combine bullets and modules, and see whether that custom loadout can carry you through a changing hive to its queen. The concept is documented more clearly than the finished experience, because the project remains in development, has no announced full-release date and has no Steam user reviews. If you want to explore an experimental magazine-building roguelite, the Windows or macOS demo is the available entry point; if you need verified balance, performance and polish, wait for a later build with broader player evidence.
