To enable Privacy display on a Galaxy S26 Ultra, swipe down to open the Quick Panel, touch and hold the Privacy display icon, switch on Turn on Privacy display, and tap Done. You can also go to Settings > Display > Privacy display and turn it on.
Turn on Privacy display from Quick Panel or Settings
- Open Quick Panel. Swipe down from the top of the screen. If needed, swipe down again to expand the panel.
- Open the feature controls. Touch and hold the Privacy display icon.
- Enable it. Switch on Turn on Privacy display, then tap Done.
If you prefer, open Settings > Display > Privacy display and enable the feature there. Samsung documents both routes in its US setup guide.
Use the Side button shortcut
Samsung says you can toggle Privacy display with a double-press of the Side button after enabling the shortcut in Settings > Advanced features. The exact controls may depend on your device software; see Samsung’s US Galaxy S26 Ultra product page.

In Privacy display settings, look for Conditions for turning on. Samsung lists options to activate it for selected apps, when entering a PIN, pattern, or password, or when notification pop-ups appear. When conditions are configured, the display can turn on only when those conditions apply rather than staying on continuously. Available options and wording may vary by software version and region; Samsung describes conditional use in its Australia guide.

Choose maximum privacy protection
Samsung’s setup guide says Maximum privacy protection narrows the viewing angle further, but dims the screen and may slightly blur the image or change its colors. Samsung also notes that Privacy display may look darker in bright surroundings. Its guide describes the feature as limiting viewing angles; it does not provide measured viewing angles or a quantified effectiveness guarantee.
Fix common Privacy display problems
An app condition does not trigger
An app can use a different package name while running, so the name shown in the condition list may not match its visible name. Samsung recommends checking Recents > app icon > App Info, then selecting the matching app in Privacy display settings. See Samsung’s troubleshooting instructions.

Privacy display keeps turning on
Open Settings > Display > Privacy display and review Conditions for turning on. A selected app, credential-entry condition, or notification pop-up can activate the feature automatically. Turn off or adjust the condition that is causing the behavior.
The menu or icon is missing
Samsung’s menu labels can change with software updates and regional releases. Install the latest available device software, then check Settings > Display and the expanded Quick Panel again.

Built-in feature or screen protector?
Privacy display is a built-in Galaxy S26 Ultra feature; a third-party privacy screen protector is not needed to enable it. Samsung cautions that a separate privacy protector may reduce screen brightness.
