Samsung’s October 2026 security maintenance release addresses Android and Samsung security issues, but its availability depends on your Galaxy S26 model and carrier or service provider. Check the update status on your own phone rather than assuming the patch has reached every S26 variant.
What the October 2026 patch addresses
Samsung labels its October package SMR-OCT-2026. It combines patches from Google with fixes from Samsung. The Android security bulletin says patch levels 2026-10-01 or higher address all issues associated with that October patch level. Android’s October 2026 Security Bulletin was published October 5 and updated October 8.
The bulletin’s most severe listed issue is a critical vulnerability in Android’s System component. Under the bulletin’s stated assumptions about platform and service mitigations, it could allow local escalation of privilege without additional execution privileges or user interaction. This is a description of an Android bulletin issue; it does not establish that a specific Galaxy S26 build is affected, or that the issue is being exploited.
How to read Samsung’s vulnerability counts
Samsung’s displayed Google list includes 9 critical, 35 high, and 3 moderate CVEs. Its bulletin also lists four high-severity Samsung Semiconductor CVEs and 27 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. These are bulletin entries, not a count of unique new fixes that apply to every Galaxy S26. Samsung notes that some entries were included in earlier maintenance releases, some are not applicable to Samsung devices, and some SVE details are undisclosed. Separately, Samsung’s October service-update page describes an improper-input-validation issue in Samsung Internet versions before 30.0.5.24 that could allow remote script injection. That app-specific fix should not be treated as proof that a particular S26 firmware update has arrived. Samsung’s October 2026 service updates cover this item.
Has the update reached your Galaxy S26?
There is no confirmed universal rollout date or complete official October build matrix for all Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra variants. Samsung says release timing may vary by device version, model, and service version. Availability can therefore differ by region and carrier.

Samsung’s update-history page for the U.S. unlocked Galaxy S26 model SM-S942U1 showed a September 3, 2026 update with security patch level 2026-08-05. That record describes that model’s history; it does not prove the October patch was unavailable to other variants. On October 9, AndroidHIRE reported October builds for unlocked U.S. S26-series phones and AT&T. Verizon’s support page also showed a September 2026 patch-level record. These records indicate differing update timelines, not a worldwide status confirmation.

Check for the update on your phone
- Open Settings on your Galaxy S26.
- Tap Software update, then Download and install.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it.
- After installation, return to Settings and check the displayed Android security patch level. A level of 2026-10-01 or higher corresponds to the October Android bulletin’s stated coverage.
If no update is offered, that only tells you an update is not currently available to your phone through that check. Confirm your exact model number, country or CSC, carrier or service provider, build number, and installed security patch level; then consult the matching Samsung or carrier update record. What to do while you wait
Check Software update again later and use the patch level shown on the device—not a report about another carrier or model—to determine what is installed. The official records available do not establish a complete October build list or vulnerability applicability for every S26 variant, so avoid treating another phone’s build or patch status as confirmation for yours.
