The Galaxy S26 FE is the budget-minded choice; the Galaxy S26 Ultra adds a sharper, larger screen, substantially more capable listed camera hardware, faster charging, higher storage options, and S Pen support. Samsung’s cited US prices differ by $600, but that comparison is between the FE’s 128GB listing and the Ultra’s March 2026 256GB MSRP—not a guaranteed difference at checkout.
How the $600 price difference is calculated
Samsung’s US product page lists the unlocked Galaxy S26 FE with 128GB of storage at $699.99. Samsung’s US MSRP schedule, effective March 2026, lists the unlocked Galaxy S26 Ultra with 256GB at $1,299.99. Subtracting those figures gives a $600 gap, but the phones have different storage capacities and the figures come from different pricing contexts. Samsung says prices may change without notice.
That $600 is not a guaranteed saving on a purchase today. Samsung’s FE page also offers a 256GB configuration, and promotions, trade-ins, carrier terms, taxes, storage choice, and current checkout prices can change the comparison. Check the prices for the exact unlocked configurations you intend to buy before treating the gap as a budget.

What you give up with the Galaxy S26 FE
A smaller, lower-resolution display
The FE has a 6.7-inch FHD+ panel, while the Ultra has a 6.9-inch QHD+ panel. Both are Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with adaptive 120Hz refresh rates, so the Ultra’s listed advantages are screen size and resolution rather than a higher stated refresh-rate ceiling.

Less extensive camera hardware and a lower 4K frame-rate ceiling
The FE’s rear camera set is a 50MP main camera, 2MP ultra-wide, and 8MP telephoto. The Ultra lists a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide, and two telephoto cameras rated at 10MP and 50MP; Samsung also lists 100x Space Zoom for the Ultra. For video, the FE reaches 4K at up to 60fps, while the Ultra reaches 4K at up to 120fps. The listed megapixels, zoom figure, and video modes do not establish how photos or videos look in everyday use.
Slower listed charging, but similar stated battery capacity
Samsung lists 4,900mAh for the FE and 5,000mAh for the Ultra. The Ultra’s maximum listed charging rates are higher: up to 60W wired and 25W wireless, compared with up to 45W wired and 15W wireless on the FE. Capacity alone does not establish battery life, and the specifications cited here do not provide endurance test results.

Fewer memory and storage choices
The FE comes with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The Ultra offers 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage, or 16GB of RAM with 1TB. Samsung lists no external SD card support for either phone, so choose enough internal storage for your needs at purchase.
No S Pen support
The FE does not support S Pen functionality. The Ultra does, although Samsung notes that its S Pen lacks BLE and Air Actions. If you want a stylus built into your phone experience, this is a decisive difference rather than a feature that can be added to the FE later.

Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Galaxy S26 FE if
- Your budget is the priority and the FE’s current price works for you.
- A 6.7-inch FHD+ screen and the FE’s listed camera configuration meet your needs.
- You do not need S Pen functionality, the Ultra’s larger storage tiers, or its higher listed charging limits.
Choose the Galaxy S26 Ultra if
- You specifically want the larger QHD+ screen or the Ultra’s higher-spec listed camera system and 100x Space Zoom.
- You need the Ultra’s 4K video modes up to 120fps, faster listed charging, or storage up to 1TB.
- S Pen support is important to how you use a phone.
These are needs-based recommendations from Samsung’s published specifications, not a verdict from hands-on testing. The cited materials do not establish comparative camera quality, battery endurance, processing speed under load, software-update duration, or repairability.
One practical purchase detail
Samsung’s FE purchase page says a charger is not included in the box. Factor in whether you already have a suitable charger when comparing the total cost; the cited listing does not establish which charger is right for every buyer.
