Keep your Galaxy S25 FE unless the S26 FE’s newer processor, camera and AI tools, or longer stated support runway solve a need worth your local upgrade cost. Samsung’s specifications show that the two phones share the same display size and refresh rate, rear-camera sensor resolutions, typical battery capacity, and wired charging speed. For current S25 FE owners, the decision is mainly about the new features and software—not a wholesale hardware overhaul.
What changes between the Galaxy S26 FE and S25 FE?
Samsung’s comparison lists the S26 FE with an Exynos 2500 processor and One UI 9.0, versus the S25 FE’s Exynos 2400 and One UI 8. Samsung describes the S26 FE as the newer, more capable generation, but the comparison does not provide independent benchmark results. That means there is no sourced performance percentage to use when deciding whether the difference will matter in your own apps or games. Samsung’s Malaysia comparison guide is the basis for the specifications below.
- Camera tools: The S26 FE adds My FanCam and Super Steady Video with Horizontal Lock, as well as a wider-angle front camera and newer editing features including enhanced Photo Assist and Creative Studio.
- Zoom options: Samsung lists 2x optical-quality zoom alongside 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom on the S26 FE. The rear sensor resolutions remain 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto on both phones.
- Dimensions: Samsung lists the S25 FE at 161.3 × 76.6 × 7.4mm and 190g, and the S26 FE at 161.6 × 76.9 × 7.4mm and 193g. Both are rated IP68. Check that an accessory is specified for your exact model rather than assuming a case will fit both.
Which core specifications are shared?
| Specification | Galaxy S25 FE | Galaxy S26 FE |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, up to 120Hz | 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, up to 120Hz |
| Rear cameras | 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, 8MP telephoto | 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide, 8MP telephoto |
| Typical battery capacity | 4,900mAh | 4,900mAh |
| Wired charging | 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 | 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0 |
| Samsung-listed video playback | Up to 28 hours | Up to 29 hours |
The video-playback figures are Samsung estimates, not results from an independent, controlled battery test. The one-hour difference should not be read as a guaranteed real-world gain. Since the display, rear-camera sensor setup, battery capacity, and wired charging rate are otherwise listed as the same, those headline specifications alone do not make a strong case to replace a working S25 FE.

How long is the stated software support?
Samsung says the S26 FE is eligible for up to seven generations of OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates. Those are the manufacturer’s stated support limits; they do not by themselves establish an identical calendar end date for every country or variant. For example, Samsung’s German business listing gives 30 September 2033 as the security-update validity date for its S26 FE listing, while Samsung Latin America’s S25 FE listing gives 30 September 2032. Treat those as dates for the respective regional listings, not worldwide guarantees. Check the support details for the exact model sold in your market.

Should an S25 FE owner upgrade?
Keep the S25 FE if it already does the job
If you are happy with its speed, photos, display, and battery life, holding on is the sensible default. Samsung’s comparison guide calls the S25 FE a capable choice when its camera, display, performance, and Galaxy AI features meet your needs. The value of moving up depends on whether you will use the S26 FE’s new creative and video features or prefer its newer software generation enough to justify the net cost.
Consider the S26 FE for its new creative tools
The upgrade is easier to justify if you often record moving subjects and would use Horizontal Lock, My FanCam, the wider-angle front camera, or the new editing tools. These additions are concrete reasons to choose the newer model; the available comparison does not establish how much better the resulting photos or videos are in independent testing.

Weigh the actual cost, not a generic threshold
Compare what you would pay after trade-in with the value of keeping your current phone. The relevant figure depends on your market, S25 FE condition, storage, offers, and warranty. The evidence does not support a universal price cutoff at which upgrading becomes worthwhile.

Compare the S25 FE and S26 FE at the same storage capacity, condition, and warranty, using the price available where you live. If the S25 FE is substantially discounted and its features cover your needs, the lower-cost model may be better value. Choose the S26 FE when its newer processor, software generation, camera tools, and stated support runway matter enough to close the price gap. Samsung’s official guide positions the S26 FE as the more complete option for buyers prioritizing those newer features, not as a necessary replacement for every S25 FE.
