In the cited U.S. prices, the 256GB iPhone 17e starts at $599 and Samsung listed the unlocked 256GB Galaxy S25 at $799.99—a $200.99 difference. The S25 has a documented 120Hz-capable display and a separate 3× optical telephoto camera; the iPhone 17e offers MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W and starts with 256GB of storage. Choose between them based on your budget, preferred operating system, display and camera needs, and whether you can use eSIM.
How much cheaper is the iPhone 17e?
Apple announced a U.S. starting price of $599 for the 256GB iPhone 17e, with U.S. availability beginning March 11, 2026. Samsung’s U.S. store listing showed $799.99 for an unlocked 256GB Galaxy S25 when the listing was observed in 2026. Subtracting those two references gives a $200.99 gap in favor of the iPhone 17e. Apple’s announcement and Samsung’s listing describe different kinds of price evidence: an announced starting price and a store listing, respectively. Prices, promotions, taxes, and availability can change, so check the total for the same capacity and region before buying.

Galaxy S25: higher stated refresh ceiling
Samsung specifies a refresh rate of up to 120Hz for the S25. That gives it a documented advantage if a higher refresh ceiling is a priority for scrolling or motion. Its display measures 6.2 inches using the full-rectangle measurement; Samsung also gives a 6.0-inch measurement accounting for rounded corners.

iPhone 17e: detailed brightness and resolution figures
Apple lists a 6.1-inch OLED panel with 2532 × 1170 resolution and 460 ppi, plus 800 nits typical brightness and 1200 nits peak brightness for HDR. The cited Apple specification page does not state a refresh rate, so the available specifications do not support a direct refresh-rate comparison. The S25 is slightly larger by the stated diagonal measurements, but the numbers use different corner-measurement conventions.
How do their cameras compare?
Galaxy S25: three rear cameras and a dedicated telephoto lens
The S25’s listed rear system includes a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Samsung specifies 3× optical zoom and optical-quality 2× zoom. The distinct ultrawide and telephoto cameras provide documented focal-length choices beyond the main camera.

What should you know about storage, SIM, and charging?
Storage
Apple lists 256GB and 512GB capacities for the iPhone 17e. The cited Samsung U.S. specifications cover the 256GB S25; they do not establish the storage lineup for every market or variant. Compare the capacity you will actually buy, rather than assuming the two brands’ configurations match.
SIM and travel
Apple specifies the iPhone 17e as eSIM-only, with no physical SIM card compatibility. Samsung’s cited U.S. S25 page lists either a physical SIM plus eSIM or dual eSIM. If you rely on a removable SIM when traveling or use a carrier that requires one, verify the exact regional phone model and carrier support before purchase.
Rank #4
Wireless and wired charging
Apple lists MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W for the iPhone 17e. Samsung’s cited specifications do not establish a directly comparable wireless charging standard or speed. Both phones use USB-C charging. Samsung says the S25 travel adapter is not included, while Apple says a 20W-or-higher adapter is sold separately for its stated 30-minute charging estimate. Check the package and adapter requirements for the model and region you are buying.
