The Galaxy S25 is the lighter option, runs Android, and carries Samsung’s stated seven-generation OS-upgrade and seven-year security-update commitment. The iPhone 16 Pro runs iOS and has the longer native telephoto reach listed by its maker: 5x versus the S25’s 3x optical zoom. Both displays support refresh rates up to 120Hz. There is no verified same-day, same-storage price comparison here, so check live prices in your market before deciding.

The available US figures do not establish a current price difference between equivalent configurations. Samsung’s US store listing showed an unlocked 256GB Galaxy S25 at $899.99 when accessed October 7, 2026; the listing also says a charger is not included. Samsung’s January 2025 launch announcement set a historical US starting price of $799.99 for the 128GB model. Apple’s September 2024 announcement set a historical US starting price of $999 for the iPhone 16 Pro.

Those are different storage tiers and dates, so subtracting them would not give a reliable present-day comparison. Check both manufacturers or retailers for unlocked prices in your country, then compare the same storage capacity. Keep carrier financing, bill credits, trade-in values, taxes, and limited-time promotions separate from the standard retail price; availability and terms vary. Samsung’s US store listing is the source for the cited 256GB listing. The launch prices come from Samsung and Apple.
Size, display, and everyday handling
The S25 weighs 162g, compared with 199g for the iPhone 16 Pro in the manufacturers’ specifications. That 37g difference may matter if you carry a phone for long periods or prefer a lighter device. The iPhone’s stated display diagonal is 6.3 inches; Samsung’s is 6.2 inches. Both reach refresh rates up to 120Hz, while their display technologies and resolution labels differ.

These specifications describe dimensions and panel capabilities, not which screen looks better to a particular person. Consider viewing both in person if color, brightness, or one-handed reach is a deciding factor.
Camera systems and zoom
The clearest specification difference is the telephoto camera: Samsung lists 3x optical zoom on the S25, while Apple lists a 5x Telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro. The S25’s rear set also includes a 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide camera; Apple lists a 48MP Fusion main and 48MP Ultra Wide alongside its 12MP telephoto.

Megapixel counts alone do not predict which phone takes better photos. The cited specifications do not establish an overall image-quality winner or a controlled comparison across lighting, motion, video, and zoom conditions. Choose based on the camera range you use most, and consult same-method sample comparisons if image quality is central to your decision.

Samsung specifies a 4,000mAh typical battery for the S25 and a rated minimum capacity of 3,880mAh. It says wired charging can reach 50% in around 30 minutes when using a 25W adapter and cable. Samsung’s US store listing says a charger is not included, so check the package and whether you already own a compatible adapter and cable before buying accessories.

Apple’s technical page describes its battery-testing methodology but does not provide a directly comparable capacity figure in the cited material. The available evidence also does not include a matched independent endurance test, so it cannot establish a battery-life winner. A useful real-world comparison needs the same test method and conditions for both phones.

Samsung says the S25 series will receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. The Apple pages consulted do not state an equivalent guaranteed support duration for the iPhone 16 Pro, so the figures should not be treated as a like-for-like comparison of promised update years.
Operating systems and AI features
The S25 launched with One UI 7 and Galaxy AI features; Apple lists Apple Intelligence support for the iPhone 16 Pro. A 2024 Apple announcement described a staged rollout with an initial beta planned for the following month. Samsung’s launch page said Galaxy AI features would be free through 2025, a dated statement that does not establish terms as of October 2026. For current feature availability, language support, and any applicable terms, check each company’s current documentation rather than relying on launch-era rollout descriptions.
For many buyers, the practical choice is the ecosystem: consider the phone’s fit with your existing devices, apps, services, and operating-system preference. Neither ecosystem is universally better for every user.
