The Galaxy S25+ is a conventional 6.7-inch smartphone; the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra opens to an 8-inch display and also has a 6.5-inch cover screen. That larger foldable workspace comes at a substantial price premium in the available U.S. figures: $999.99 for the S25+ 256GB listing observed on Samsung’s purchase page versus a $2,099.99 Fold8 Ultra 256GB launch price reported by TechRadar. These are not simultaneous checkout quotes, so the $1,100 difference is a dated comparison—not a guaranteed current gap.
At a glance: slab phone or foldable workspace?
The S25+ keeps the familiar one-screen phone design. The Fold8 Ultra has a cover display for use while closed and a larger inner display when opened. Samsung describes the Fold’s larger screen as supporting multitasking; whether that format is useful depends on how often you want a phone-sized device to open into a broader workspace.

For the United States, Samsung’s purchase page showed the S25+ at $999.99 for 256GB and $1,119.99 for 512GB when accessed. TechRadar reported a $2,099.99 U.S. launch price for the Fold8 Ultra with 256GB and general availability from August 7, 2026. The $1,100 256GB difference is the subtraction of those two cited figures; it compares an observed Samsung page price with a reported launch price, not two current checkout offers. Display and form
The S25+ gives you one 6.7-inch screen in a conventional phone body. The Fold8 Ultra’s 8-inch inner screen is the clearest hardware distinction, while its 6.5-inch cover screen lets it be used without opening. Screen size alone does not establish comfort, image quality, or how well particular apps use the space.
Rank #2
- 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display (3120 × 1440) with adaptive 1‑120 Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — providing a large, sharp, and very bright screen.
Performance
The phones list different processor names and generations. Those labels are not a substitute for comparable benchmark or real-world testing, so they do not establish which phone is faster for a particular task.

Cameras
The S25+ has three rear cameras, including a dedicated 10MP telephoto camera. The Fold8 Ultra lists a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, with HDR support in 200MP mode. Megapixel counts and hardware descriptions do not establish which phone takes better photos; no controlled camera comparison is available here.
Rank #3
- 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display (3120 × 1440) with adaptive 1‑120 Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — providing a large, sharp, and very bright screen.
Battery
Samsung lists a 4,900mAh battery for the S25+ and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging for the Fold8 Ultra. Capacity is not a battery-life measurement, so these numbers do not show which device lasts longer between charges.
Updates
The cited Samsung S25-series specification sheet states seven years of OS and security updates. The cited Fold8 Ultra materials do not establish a matching duration. That is a gap in the available support information, not evidence that the Fold receives less support.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the S25+ if you want a conventional smartphone and the cited U.S. 256GB listing is closer to your budget. Its sheet also documents 12GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, and a seven-year S25-series update statement.
- Consider the Fold8 Ultra if opening your phone into a larger 8-inch display is important enough to justify the higher cited U.S. launch price. Check the exact local storage configuration and current offer before buying.
- Do not decide on camera quality, speed, or endurance from these specifications alone. The available figures describe hardware and capacity, not comparative testing.
