The Galaxy S24 FE gives you a larger screen and a higher stated battery capacity; the Galaxy S24 5G is smaller, lighter, and has higher listed peak display brightness and higher-resolution telephoto and selfie cameras. Samsung’s US launch prices differed by $150 for their base configurations, but that is a historical launch-price comparison—not a current like-for-like deal.
At a glance: Galaxy S24 5G vs S24 FE

Samsung lists Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the S24 and Victus+ for the FE. The peak-brightness figures are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent display test. The processor specifications also do not establish a real-world speed difference: the comparison does not provide benchmark scores.

Which phone is more comfortable to carry and use?
Choose the S24 for a compact phone
At 167 g and 147.0 mm tall, the S24 is considerably smaller and lighter than the FE. Its 6.2-inch display may suit you better if one-handed handling and fitting the phone into a pocket matter more than screen size.

Choose the S24 FE for a larger screen
The FE’s 6.7-inch display provides more screen area, but its 213 g weight and larger body are a meaningful trade-off. If you often read, watch videos, or work on a phone screen, the extra size may be useful; try holding the FE if weight or reach is a concern.
How do the displays compare?
Both phones have Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. Samsung lists the S24 at 2,600 nits peak brightness and the FE at 1,900 nits. That gives the S24 the higher manufacturer-listed peak figure, but the comparison is not an independent measurement of visibility in everyday conditions.

Do the cameras make the S24 better?
The listed rear camera setups are close on the main and ultrawide cameras: each has a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide. The differences in stated resolution are in the telephoto and front cameras.

- Telephoto: S24 has a 10MP camera with 3x optical zoom; FE has an 8MP camera with 3x optical zoom.
- Front camera: S24 has a 12MP camera; FE has a 10MP camera.
- Stabilization: Samsung’s comparison lists optical image stabilization on the main and telephoto modules for both phones.
These specifications do not prove which phone takes better photos or video. Megapixel counts alone are not a quality ranking, and no hands-on camera comparison is established here.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
What do the processors and storage specs mean?
Samsung lists an Exynos 2400 in the S24 and an Exynos 2400e in the FE, with 8GB of RAM in both. Its published clock table gives the S24’s top core a 3.2GHz clock and the FE’s a 3.1GHz clock. Those manufacturer specifications do not show how noticeable a performance difference would be in daily use.
Both are offered with 128GB or 256GB storage, depending on model, and storage is not expandable in Samsung Germany’s comparison. When shopping, compare the same storage capacity rather than treating the lowest price for one configuration as directly equivalent to the other.
Rank #4
- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Does the FE’s larger battery mean longer battery life?
The FE has a 4,700mAh stated battery capacity, compared with 4,000mAh in the S24. Capacity alone does not establish how long either phone lasts between charges; no comparable battery endurance test is available here.
Samsung lists 25W wired fast charging and wireless charging for both. In its US FE launch release, Samsung said 25W charging could reach around 50% in 30 minutes under its stated laboratory setup; the adapter is sold separately. That figure is a manufacturer claim under specified conditions, not a guarantee of charging time in every situation. See Samsung’s S24 FE launch announcement.
Best Value
- 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of ~2,600 nits — giving a noticeably sharper, brighter screen than the base S24.
What is the price difference?
Samsung US announced a $799.99 starting price for the 128GB S24 on January 17, 2024, and a $649.99 starting price for the S24 FE on September 26, 2024. The difference between those separately announced US base launch prices is $150.
These are historical launch prices, not a current matched-price comparison. Samsung’s US FE product page displayed “From $649.99 before eligible trade-in” when accessed, but that offer does not establish the S24’s current price or a comparable unlocked price. Before deciding which is better value, compare the same storage size, carrier or unlocked status, condition, trade-in assumptions, and total price at the same time. The launch announcements are available from Samsung US for the S24 FE and Samsung US for the S24; the current FE offer is shown on Samsung’s US S24 FE product page.
How long will Samsung support each phone?
Samsung announced seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for both the S24 series and the S24 FE. Samsung notes that update availability and timing can vary by model and market, so the announcement should not be read as a guarantee that every update arrives simultaneously everywhere. The support commitments are described in Samsung’s S24 FE announcement and S24 announcement.

Which one should you choose?
- Pick the S24 5G if a smaller, lighter phone is your priority, or if you prefer its higher listed peak brightness and higher-resolution telephoto and front cameras.
- Pick the S24 FE if you want a larger display and higher stated battery capacity, and are comfortable with the larger, heavier body.
- Compare current prices before choosing on value. The $150 figure is the difference between two US launch prices; it does not show which phone costs less today for an equivalent storage and purchase setup.
