The Galaxy S24+ is a measured upgrade over the Galaxy S23+: it has a sharper, brighter display, more listed RAM, slightly greater typical battery capacity and Galaxy AI features. Samsung lists the same rear-camera megapixel configuration for both, so the S24+ is not a megapixel-based camera upgrade. Whether it is worth paying more depends on the actual prices and terms you can get; the available seller prices are not a like-for-like comparison.

Specifications are from Samsung’s US comparison. The display measurements are diagonal; Samsung notes that rounded corners affect the viewable area. The processor comparison is specific to Samsung’s US listing and should not be assumed for every regional model.
Does the S24+ have a better display?
Samsung lists the S24+ with a 6.7-inch QHD+ display and peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits, compared with the S23+’s 6.6-inch screen. Those specifications favor the S24+ for screen size, resolution and stated peak brightness. They are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that the phones will look a particular way in every lighting condition or display setting.
Are the S24+ battery and performance upgrades substantial?
Battery capacity
The S24+ has a typical capacity of 4,900mAh, versus 4,700mAh for the S23+—a 200mAh difference. Capacity alone does not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use. Samsung lists the S24+ rated minimum capacity as 4,565mAh and says actual battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns and other factors. No independent endurance test is established here.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of ~2,600 nits — giving a noticeably sharper, brighter screen than the base S24.
Processor and RAM
In Samsung’s US comparison, the S23+ uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy and the S24+ uses Exynos 2400. Regional variants can differ, so check the exact model sold in your market. Samsung lists 12GB RAM for the S24+ and 8GB for the S23+. Both are listed with 256GB or 512GB storage. These figures establish a memory and specification difference, not a measured speed advantage for a particular task.
Did Samsung upgrade the cameras?
Samsung lists the same megapixel configuration for both Plus models: a 50MP wide camera, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto and 12MP front camera. That means the S24+ is not a camera hardware megapixel upgrade on the listed specifications. Similar megapixel counts do not prove identical image quality, and the available information does not establish a tested camera-quality winner. Software processing may differ between generations.

What Galaxy AI features does the S24+ include?
Samsung lists Live Translate, Transcript Assist and Photo Assist among the S24+’s Galaxy AI features. Transcript Assist has conditions: Samsung’s footnote specifies a Samsung account and internet connection, and limits the text length it can process in Samsung Notes. Check Samsung’s current feature terms and availability for your region before buying; the comparison page’s statement that Galaxy AI features would be free through the end of 2025 does not establish post-2025 pricing.
How much more does the Galaxy S24+ cost?
There is no defensible single price difference in the available listings. AT&T’s page, accessed October 7, 2026, says the S23+ is no longer available from that carrier and displays the S24+ at $27.78 per month under a 36-month agreement, with a $999.99 starting retail price. AT&T says eligibility and tax terms apply, and full-price tax is due at sale. This is a seller-specific offer, not a current like-for-like market comparison. See AT&T’s S24+ listing.
Rank #3
- 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of ~2,600 nits — giving a noticeably sharper, brighter screen than the base S24.
Samsung’s comparison page has also displayed $449.99+ for the S24+ and “From $999.99” for the S23+, but it does not establish matching storage, condition or purchase terms. Those figures conflict with AT&T’s displayed S24+ retail price and should not be read as proof that the newer phone is cheaper. See Samsung’s comparison page.
For a useful price comparison, match the details that can change the total cost:

Should you upgrade from the S23+ to the S24+?
Choose the S24+ if
- You want the larger, higher-resolution display and Samsung’s stated peak-brightness figure.
- You value the additional listed RAM or the S24+’s Galaxy AI features.
- You are buying a phone and find an acceptable S24+ offer for your preferred storage and purchase terms.
Keep or consider the S23+ if
- Your current S23+ meets your needs and the S24+’s display, RAM and AI differences do not justify replacing it.
- You find an S23+ at a materially lower price than a comparable S24+ with the same storage, condition, warranty and purchase terms.
- You are choosing primarily for camera megapixels: Samsung lists the same camera configuration, and these specifications alone do not establish a camera-quality winner.
Samsung describes the S24 series as launching in January 2024 and the S23 series in February 2023; the S24+ is the successor to the S23+. The generation gap is real, but a sensible upgrade decision still depends on the price of the specific phone and offer in front of you.
