The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is a premium Galaxy S smartphone announced in February 2022. Its defining feature is a built-in S Pen, bringing Note-style writing and drawing to the Galaxy S line. It also has a 6.8-inch display and a four-camera rear system; exact specifications vary by market and configuration.
What is the Galaxy S22 Ultra?
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is Samsung’s top-tier model in the Galaxy S22 family. Samsung introduced it on February 9, 2022, describing it as a combination of Note-series functionality and Galaxy S-series camera and performance features. It is a smartphone, not a separate tablet or Note model.
Its most distinctive feature is the S Pen stored inside the phone. Samsung said this was the first built-in S Pen in an S-series device. You can use it to write and draw on the screen; Samsung also described lower pen latency than the preceding Note experience, but that is Samsung’s launch-era comparison, not an independent performance test. What are its main features?
Display
Samsung’s global launch specifications describe a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 1,750 nits. Samsung Saudi Arabia lists the resolution as 3088 × 1440 pixels. The brightness figure is a stated peak, not a guarantee of typical brightness in every setting. Cameras
Samsung’s US unlocked specification sheet lists four rear cameras: a 108MP wide camera, two 10MP telephoto cameras, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. It lists a 40MP front camera. Size and build
Samsung’s global launch document gives dimensions of 77.9 × 163.3 × 8.9 mm and a weight of 229 g. It is therefore a large, relatively heavy phone. Samsung’s US specification sheet reports slightly different dimensions and weight, so treat the figures as document- and market-specific rather than universal.

Which specifications depend on the market?
Processor, network support, memory, storage, dimensions, and weight can differ by regional model or configuration. For example, Samsung’s US unlocked sheet specifies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, a 5,000mAh battery, 8GB or 12GB of memory, and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage. Those details describe that US unlocked specification, not necessarily every S22 Ultra sold worldwide.

The clearest distinction is the S22 Ultra’s built-in S Pen and its Note-style use. It also has a 6.8-inch display and a four-camera rear arrangement. To compare it with the Galaxy S22 or S22+, consider the features that affect how you would use and carry the phone:
- Pen: the S22 Ultra stores an S Pen inside the phone.
- Display: compare screen size, resolution, and refresh rate for each model and market.
- Cameras: compare the specific camera and zoom arrangements, rather than relying on megapixel counts alone.
- Size and weight: the Ultra is a large device; check the market-specific dimensions if fit or pocketability matters.
- Configuration: verify processor, memory, storage, network variant, and the phone’s condition before buying.
Samsung’s materials establish the model and listed specifications, but do not provide an independent benchmark comparison or current price comparison.

What should you check before buying one?
- Confirm that the listing is for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, not another S22 model.
- Check the regional model code and network compatibility with your carrier.
- Verify the memory and storage configuration; US unlocked Samsung specifications include 8GB or 12GB memory and storage options from 128GB to 512GB.
- For a used phone, assess its condition separately from its original specifications. Samsung’s specification documents do not establish the condition, current price, software-support status, or present availability of a particular unit.
