To change the password other devices use to join your Galaxy S22 hotspot, open Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot, then open Configure or the hotspot’s password details. Replace the password and save. Menu labels can vary by software version and carrier.
Change the Galaxy S22 hotspot password
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot.
- Open Configure or the screen showing the hotspot’s network details. Tap Password, enter the new password, then save or confirm the change. Samsung identifies the password as an editable hotspot setting; an S22-specific Samsung Community answer also points to Configure. - Share the new password with people who should connect. Devices using the old saved password will need the updated one to rejoin.
If your screen does not match these labels, look for the password or network details within Mobile Hotspot settings. Samsung notes that settings can differ by model and software, and carrier configuration can affect available features. Do not confuse this hotspot password with your phone’s screen-lock password, Samsung account password, or home router’s Wi-Fi password.
If a device cannot find or join the hotspot
It can see the hotspot but will not connect
Update the saved network password on that device, then try joining again with the new password. If it still cannot connect, check the hotspot’s security and network settings on the S22.

It cannot see the hotspot
Check the hotspot’s Wi-Fi band. Samsung says 2.4 GHz is compatible with more devices, while 5 GHz can provide better performance. Switching bands is a compatibility troubleshooting step; it is separate from changing the password. Samsung’s connection-options instructions.

The hotspot option is missing or unavailable
Mobile hotspot availability can depend on the carrier and account. Samsung notes that a tethering plan may be required; whether tethering is included or charged separately depends on your carrier, so check your plan if the setting is unavailable. Leave password protection enabled rather than making the hotspot open to nearby devices. Samsung Business Insights recommends securing a mobile hotspot with a password and notes that hotspot functionality is supported on the Galaxy S22 series.
