The Galaxy S26 FE is the newer, larger-screen option, with a 6.7-inch 120Hz display, 4,900mAh battery and Samsung’s stated commitment to up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. Samsung’s US Galaxy S20 FE 5G specifications list a 6.5-inch 120Hz display and 4,500mAh battery. Their original or listed prices do not establish today’s price difference: compare the same storage and configuration in your market, especially if you are considering a used S20 FE 5G.

These specifications and prices are regional, not a universal like-for-like price comparison. The S20 FE figures describe the US unlocked 5G model; the S26 FE display, processor and update details above are from Samsung India, while its prices are from Samsung US.
What changes in the display and battery?
The S26 FE has the larger display
Samsung lists a 6.5-inch 120Hz display for the US unlocked S20 FE 5G and a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with refresh rates up to 120Hz for the S26 FE. The newer model gives you more screen area, while both cited specifications support a high refresh rate. These figures describe panel size and refresh capability, not a direct measurement of image quality or smoothness in every app. Samsung’s US Galaxy S20 FE 5G specifications and Samsung India’s Galaxy S26 FE specifications identify the models behind those figures.

The cited S20 FE 5G datasheet lists 4,500mAh; Samsung lists 4,900mAh for the S26 FE. Samsung also specifies 45W wired charging for the S26 FE and says a 45W adapter can reach 69% in around 30 minutes. The charging figure is Samsung’s claim, not a guarantee for every charger or usage condition. Battery capacity and charging speed alone cannot establish how long either phone will last in real use.

Processor and regional-model differences
Samsung’s India launch material names the Exynos 2500 for the S26 FE. The S20 FE family was sold with different processors: Samsung UK notes Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 versions. Check the exact S20 FE model and market before comparing performance, network bands or a listing’s compatibility; “S20 FE 5G” does not by itself guarantee the same chipset or radio configuration everywhere. Price difference: use a same-market comparison
For the US, Samsung’s December 2020 price list put the unlocked 128GB S20 FE 5G at $699.99. Samsung’s US S26 FE listing, observed October 7, 2026, showed $699.99 for 128GB and $799.99 for 256GB. The first figure is a historical MSRP; the latter figures are listing prices that can change. Matching the two $699.99 amounts would compare the S20 FE’s 2020 list price with a 2026 S26 FE listing—not what a used S20 FE costs today or what either phone will cost at checkout. Other markets show why prices should not be combined into one global comparison. Samsung India announced INR 79,999 for the 8GB/256GB S26 FE. TechRadar reported launch starting prices of $699, £699 and AU$1,149, with first sale on September 4, 2026. These are market-specific launch references, not current offers or directly interchangeable prices across currencies, taxes and storage tiers. - Choose your country and compare prices in that market, including tax and any checkout fees.
- Match storage capacity where possible; a 128GB phone is not a like-for-like price check against a 256GB model.
- Compare the S26 FE’s current price with the actual price of the S20 FE 5G listing you would buy, not its 2020 MSRP.
- For a used S20 FE 5G, account for its condition, battery health, carrier lock, exact model and seller return terms before deciding that a lower price is worthwhile.
No single current used-market price for the S20 FE 5G is established here, so there is no supported universal dollar or percentage difference to quote.

Should you keep, buy or upgrade?
Keep an S20 FE 5G you already own
If it still meets your needs, the published specifications alone do not make replacement automatic. The most material forward-looking difference is Samsung’s stated S26 FE support policy: up to seven OS generations and seven years of security updates from global launch. Samsung announced the S26 FE on August 27, 2026, with One UI 9; update rollout timing can vary by market. The commitment is a software policy, not a promise that performance, battery condition or physical durability will remain unchanged for seven years. Consider the S26 FE for a longer planned ownership period
The larger display, higher listed battery capacity, 45W wired charging and stated update horizon are the clearest documented reasons to consider moving to the newer model. Whether it is worth the price depends on the live local offer and how much you value those changes; the specifications do not establish a guaranteed real-world battery-life or performance advantage.

Buy a secondhand S20 FE 5G only after checking the individual listing
- Confirm the model number, regional version and carrier compatibility.
- Ask about battery condition and inspect the phone’s physical state.
- Check whether it is carrier-locked and whether the seller accepts returns.
- Compare the total cost with a same-storage S26 FE price available in your market.
Samsung’s named executive described the S26 FE as designed to deliver Galaxy S strengths, but that is a statement of design intent rather than independent evidence of quality. The practical choice is to weigh verified device details and local prices against the condition and remaining usefulness of the specific phone you would own.
