Samsung’s unreleased Galaxy A58 is reportedly keeping the Galaxy A57’s camera resolution layout: a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultrawide, 5 MP macro camera and 12 MP selfie camera. GalaxyClub reported the claim on 14 October 2026, with SamMobile describing the same leak. Samsung has not announced the A58, so its sensors, image quality, price and launch date remain unconfirmed.
What camera setup is the Galaxy A58 expected to have?
The leaked configuration contains four cameras with the same headline resolutions used by the Galaxy A57:

The leak does not report a dedicated telephoto camera. That leaves the A58 with the same basic camera roles as its predecessor: a standard wide camera, an ultrawide for broader scenes, a close-up macro camera and a selfie camera.
Is Samsung actually upgrading the A58 camera?
Matching megapixel counts do not establish that the cameras are identical. The A58 could use newer or physically larger sensors, different lenses, improved autofocus or more advanced image processing. SamMobile specifically notes that the sensor details remain unclear. Until Samsung publishes a specification sheet or independent testing is available, there is no evidence-based way to claim better low-light photos, sharper ultrawide images or improved zoom.

The Galaxy A57 provides the confirmed baseline. Samsung lists optical image stabilization for its rear camera and 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. The leak does not say whether the A58 will retain those features, change stabilization hardware or add new video modes.
How old is the reported 5 MP macro camera?
GalaxyClub describes the A58’s 5 MP macro unit as a continuation of hardware that debuted with the Galaxy A51 in 2020. Its Galaxy A57 review characterized the macro camera as dated. If the report is accurate, Samsung would be carrying a close-up camera concept from the A51 generation into the A58 rather than replacing it with a higher-resolution or autofocus macro system.

A 5 MP macro camera can still be useful for subjects photographed from very close range, but its presence does not improve distant subjects. The absence of a telephoto lens means long-range framing would continue to rely on the main camera and digital cropping.

No telephoto camera is reported in the current leak. The Galaxy A57 also lacks a true telephoto camera, according to GalaxyClub’s review. Therefore, buyers seeking optical reach should not assume the A58 will provide it. The leaked resolution list alone cannot reveal whether Samsung has improved digital zoom through a new main sensor or software.

When could Samsung launch the Galaxy A58?
GalaxyClub expects the A58 to follow the A57 in spring 2027, with March or April given as an estimate. Notebookcheck likewise places the expected launch after the A57’s 2026 release. These are forecasts, not dates confirmed by Samsung. The company has not published an A58 launch schedule, price or regional availability.
Should you buy the Galaxy A57 or wait?
Buy the Galaxy A57 if you need a phone now
The A57 is the only model in this comparison with an official camera specification. Its documented setup includes a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultrawide, 5 MP macro camera, 12 MP front camera, optical image stabilization on the rear camera and 4K recording at 30 fps. It is the practical choice for shoppers who cannot wait for an unannounced device.

Wait for the A58 if camera hardware is your priority
Waiting makes sense if you can postpone a purchase until Samsung reveals the A58’s sensor sizes, autofocus behavior, stabilization, video modes, pricing and availability. Resolution parity means the A58 may deliver better results through newer components or software, but that improvement is not established by the leak.
Do not wait solely for more megapixels
The reported A58 numbers are unchanged, so a higher megapixel count is not a reason to upgrade. Compare confirmed sensor models and sizes, optical stabilization, autofocus, low-light performance, ultrawide quality, macro usefulness, telephoto availability, video capabilities and software support when Samsung releases full specifications.

What remains unknown about the Galaxy A58 camera?
- The exact sensor models and physical sensor sizes.
- Whether the main and ultrawide cameras use new lenses or autofocus systems.
- Whether optical image stabilization and 4K/30 video return unchanged.
- Real-world photo, video and zoom quality.
- The phone’s launch date, price and regional availability.
For now, the defensible conclusion is narrow: specialist leaks point to the Galaxy A57’s 50 MP, 12 MP, 5 MP and 12 MP resolution arrangement returning on the Galaxy A58. Everything beyond that—including whether the phone takes better pictures—requires an official announcement or credible testing.
