The Galaxy A57 is thinner and lighter than the Galaxy A56, adds IP68 water and dust resistance, and comes with Samsung’s stated promise of up to six Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Both have a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and a 5,000 mAh battery, so the upgrade is not a straightforward jump in screen size or battery capacity. In the U.S., Samsung’s October 7, 2026 A57 listing was $599.99 for 128GB and $679.99 for 256GB before a displayed $75 promotion; its March 2026 A56 MSRP sheet listed lower prices but marks those models end-of-life.

What changes with the Galaxy A57?
A slimmer, lighter design with a higher protection rating
Samsung’s listed dimensions make the A57 0.5 mm thinner and 19 g lighter than the A56. The A57 also carries an IP68 rating, compared with IP54 for the A56 in Samsung’s report. That is a meaningful change if you prioritize a lighter phone or stronger ingress protection; an IP rating is not a promise that damage from every exposure is covered.
Longer stated support for the A57
Samsung’s A57 U.S. product page promises up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. The A56 source records its launch software, not a comparable remaining-support term, so the available information does not support a precise side-by-side estimate of how many supported years remain for an A56 bought today.
Similar headline display and battery capacity
Both phones are listed with a 6.7-inch FHD+ screen and a 5,000 mAh battery. Samsung Spain specifies the A57’s Super AMOLED Plus panel and up to 120 Hz refresh rate. The reviewed A56 material does not establish a directly comparable refresh-rate figure, so it would be misleading to claim a refresh-rate improvement from these sources alone.

More specific camera figures for the A57
Samsung lists the A57’s rear cameras as 50 MP wide with optical image stabilization, 12 MP ultrawide, and 5 MP macro. The reviewed A56 report does not give a full array of camera resolutions. These specifications describe hardware, not comparative photo quality; no controlled camera test is established here.
Is the A57 faster than the A56?
The available Samsung material identifies the A56’s Exynos 1580 but does not identify the A57 chipset or provide a like-for-like benchmark for the two phones. There is therefore no verified performance margin to quote, and the A57’s newer release date alone does not prove that it is faster in everyday use or demanding applications.
For a performance decision, look for independent tests that compare both models under the same benchmark version, software conditions, and thermal conditions. Until such a comparison is available, treat speed as an open question rather than a confirmed A57 advantage.

What is the U.S. price difference?
Samsung’s U.S. A57 page showed the following prices on October 7, 2026, before a displayed $75 promotion. Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet lists the A56 prices below but marks both configurations end-of-life. The differences in the final column compare those listed prices only; they are not current checkout-price comparisons.

Samsung’s U.S. A57 launch announcement listed a starting price of $549.99. That launch figure, the later observed product-page prices, and the displayed promotion refer to different pricing contexts; do not treat them as one permanent price. The EOL mark on the A56 MSRP sheet also means it cannot establish what an A56 costs from a retailer now.
How to compare actual offers
- Match storage capacity before comparing prices; the 128GB and 256GB gaps differ.
- Compare the same market and warranty region, and check whether listings are unlocked or tied to a carrier.
- Account for tax, shipping, trade-in terms, and temporary promotions separately from the listed price.
- For a country outside the U.S., use local listings: Samsung’s configurations and prices vary by market.
Which phone makes more sense for you?
Choose the A57 if its support and durability justify the price
The A57 is the clearer fit if you value Samsung’s stated six-year security-update period, IP68 protection, and a lighter, thinner body. Its U.S. price premium should be judged against a current A56 offer with matching storage, not against the A56’s end-of-life MSRP as though it were a live sale price.

Consider the A56 when you find a substantially lower current offer
The A56 still offers a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and 5,000 mAh battery on Samsung’s published specifications. Since its listed U.S. SKUs are marked EOL, availability and current pricing depend on remaining retailer stock or resale listings. Check the exact model, condition, storage, seller, and warranty before buying.
What comes in the A57 box?
Samsung says the U.S. A57 package includes the phone, a data cable, and a SIM-ejection pin, but no wall charger. If you do not already have a compatible charger, include that extra purchase in your total cost. [Samsung U.S. product page]
