The Samsung Galaxy A37 5G and TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G make different trade-offs: TECNO lists a larger, sharper, faster-refresh display and a higher-capacity battery, while Samsung states a longer software-support commitment and lists a rear macro camera. There is no reliable universal price difference in the available official launch information; prices depend on country, date, storage configuration and retailer.

The figures below are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent test results. Samsung figures and launch prices are from its U.S. materials unless a different market is identified. TECNO’s core specifications are from its Saudi Arabia product page, so local variants may differ.

Which phone has the better display?
On listed specifications, the POVA 8 Pro has the edge: TECNO states a 6.78-inch panel with 2644 × 1208 resolution and a maximum 144Hz refresh rate. Samsung lists the A37’s 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display at up to 120Hz. Those figures favor the POVA for screen size, resolution and maximum refresh rate, but they do not establish measured brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility, or whether an app or game will use the maximum refresh rate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBattery capacity and charging
TECNO lists a 6,500mAh battery, compared with Samsung’s 5,000mAh typical capacity for the A37. Samsung also states a 4,905mAh rated/minimum capacity. The larger POVA figure indicates more stated battery capacity, not a guaranteed amount of extra screen time: endurance also depends on the display, processor, network conditions, settings and workload, and no comparable battery-life tests are established here.

TECNO lists 45W Super Charge for the POVA 8 Pro. The cited Samsung U.S. specification table does not give the A37’s charging rate, so check the specification for the exact A37 model sold in your country rather than assuming a rate from another listing.
Camera differences: OIS versus a macro camera
Samsung lists three rear cameras: a 50MP wide, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro. TECNO lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide. In practical terms, OIS is the POVA’s stated main-camera feature, while the A37 is the one that lists a dedicated macro camera. The POVA also promotes an “Alive Matrix” display feature; it is a design feature, not another conventional camera.

Software updates and long-term support
Samsung states that the Galaxy A37 will receive up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. TECNO’s POVA 8 Pro product specifications identify Android 16-based HiOS 16, but a comparable TECNO support-period commitment was not verified. If keeping a phone updated for years is a priority, Samsung’s published commitment is the clearer basis for comparison; check local software rollout details and feature availability.

Price difference: compare the same market and configuration
There is no defensible single price difference to quote without a country, date, storage configuration and sales channel. Samsung announced a U.S. starting price of $449.99, with U.S. availability beginning April 9, 2026. Separately, Samsung’s Korea announcement set a launch price of KRW 598,400 for release on June 19, 2026. These are launch prices for different markets, not current prices everywhere.
No comparable official TECNO POVA 8 Pro price was established in the cited materials. For a useful comparison, check current local listings for both exact regional models with the same storage capacity, and compare final prices after taxes, retailer discounts and carrier conditions. Do not subtract a U.S. or Korean A37 launch price from a POVA price in another country.

Durability, network compatibility and regional checks
Samsung lists an IP68 rating for the A37. TECNO’s official product overview advertises IP69K/69/68/66 ratings, although its regional core-specification page does not repeat them. Verify the rating, certification and warranty wording for the exact POVA model sold locally before treating the phones as equivalent. Water-resistance ratings do not make a phone waterproof, and warranty coverage can vary.
The POVA specifications cited here come from TECNO Saudi Arabia. Before buying either phone, confirm the regional model’s supported 5G bands, storage configuration, warranty, local repair access and retailer availability. Specifications from another market do not by themselves establish network compatibility in yours.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the POVA 8 Pro if its larger, higher-resolution, up-to-144Hz display or listed 6,500mAh battery is more important to you, and you can confirm local price, network support and service coverage.
- Consider the Galaxy A37 if Samsung’s stated update commitment matters most, or you specifically want the rear macro camera listed in its specifications.
- Compare local offers before deciding if price is the deciding factor: the available Samsung launch prices are market- and date-specific, and there is no matched official POVA price here.
Neither specification sheet establishes a universal winner for performance, photography or battery life. Those judgments require comparable real-world testing of the exact regional models.
